Now the news is out Liam Fox will be negotiating post Brexit deals with none other than Ivanka Trump....the news just gets better and better .Can any Brexiteer tell me why this is good news for our trade or lack of with the good old US of A?
Why in all thats happening accross the pond and here is America happy with trump's daughter working in a n official capacity ?

I can excuse vulgarity Mcrc, but not blatant lying, misogyny, sexual abuse, nepotism, vindictiveness, intimidation, childishness, fraudulent business practice, disregard for legal process and eye-watering vanity. I don't think any other president has managed to achieve such a comprehensive portfolio of awfulness.

I do not think that Ivanka's elevation into the realms of international diplomacy and trade is appropriate, but she and Melania appear quite wholesome compared to their adult male blood and marital relatives.

Wouldn't we all be up in arms if maggie Thatchers son or Blairs daughter sat in on important meetings and negotiated deals for their country? I know I would .the people we VOTE for are the ones who should be doing that work not somebody's daughter or SIL .I'm not interested in her looks but then neither were the world leaders whose conference she attended last month who clearly thought she had no right to be there and who literally turned their backs on her as she waffled on .

Yes Jane, I think it does. Michelle Obama would be a very good candidate in my opinion. It would be fantastic for the USA to have a female president wouldn’t it?

Jane43 Fri 12-Jul-19 13:49:14

If she does stand for President it needs a credible woman like Michelle Obama or Oprah Winfrey to take her on.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 13:42:41

And yes, Dolly Parton is a fantastic role model in my humble opinion.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 13:42:00

That comment is incredibly rude isn’t it petra? And of course it is an opinion, to which of course the writer is entitled.

What really bothers me about these descriptions is the way women, I’m presuming that most of us are women, are so easily able to slip into the kind of comments that are so sexist, against their own sex! If men were saying these things, there would be uproar.

petra Fri 12-Jul-19 13:34:16

she looks like a barbie doll by the way and I guess her head is just as empty
They said that about Dolly Parton. Once known as one of the toughest women in Hollywood.

mcrc, well Suzie thinks Ivanka Trump does not have any ability, so maybe everyone should ask her.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 13:17:24

It’s a shame you’ve lowered your standards suzie. The art of proper and dignified discussion is to never lower your standards, imho.

Mcrc Fri 12-Jul-19 13:16:17

I believe Ivanka has an MBA? I am afraid I would not hink Congresswoman Cortez is any sort of proper as she blames everyone for everything. Who determines one's ability to work or govern?

Mcrc Fri 12-Jul-19 13:14:09

Oops! I forget I am on this site. I should have said "getting mad!" lol

Mcrc Fri 12-Jul-19 13:12:50

Jobs are up, wages are up, economy and stock market is great. I don't think about Trump being an embarrassment. I am sure there were many vulgar presidents before but we never knew.

MaizieD Fri 12-Jul-19 13:09:25

Getting pissed sounds like quite a good thing to do!

suziewoozie Fri 12-Jul-19 13:08:20

I comment on her looks etc to demonstrate my utter contempt for the fact that she is no way qualified or experienced to be fulfilling the role she does. I never comment on the appearance of proper female politicians but would on their policies, behaviour in office etc. She looks like a Barbie doll by the way and I guess her head is as empty

Mcrc Fri 12-Jul-19 13:06:48

When was Hillary CLInton elected in the 90's when she worked health care? etc. Ivanka is a businesswoman. Maybe she can do some good things. sooo tired of everyone immediately jumping all over things because someone is a Trump or works with them. No matter what they do they are at fault. They could solve global warming and it would be blamed for causing crop problems or anything that could be imagined. I just turn off the news, read a book, garden and enjoy my lake home. Life is too short to get pissed about everything.

maddyone Fri 12-Jul-19 12:40:50

Indeed quizqueen.

Whatever one thinks of Ivanka Trump, I despise some of the comments on here about her clothes and hair. I thought we women had thrown off the shackles of women being judged by their clothes and looks. Discuss her politics, discuss the nepotism, but leave off the judgments and catty remarks about her looks.

Gonegirl Fri 12-Jul-19 11:30:03

I think she'd be a better President than him! I like her.

All Presidents have assistants don't they?

Margs Fri 12-Jul-19 11:27:19

Ivanka is the queen of the gravity-defying beehive hairdo....I wonder if she gives Donald tips on his (weirdy) hair, much to the annoyance of Melania?

Liam Fox obviously fancies the Mature Barbie look (brains optional)......

Annaram1 Fri 12-Jul-19 11:09:01

Oh my! So much jealousy about the pretty Ivanka! I met a few Americans on the train recently, and during our chat they said that Trump is an embarrassment to the US. Ivanka isn't. I think both she and Melania are an asset.

Jaxie Fri 12-Jul-19 10:46:26

I feel sorry for the Queen ( and I'm a republican) having to host vulgar upstarts like the Trumps.

4allweknow Fri 12-Jul-19 10:22:05

Nothing to say, still trying to breathe after hearing this!

Barmeyoldbat Fri 12-Jul-19 10:03:35

Tory shame Liam Fox is my MP and he spends a great deal of time in the US sucking up to DT and family but not getting the deals. As for Ivanka, well words fail me, she didn't even start at the bottom and work her way up, just floated into the top with a dim look on her face. It must be really embarrassing for some Americans.

anenome9 Fri 12-Jul-19 09:52:30

I think she’s always eyeing the camera for good photo shoots of herself. For her, looks are everything, hence the extensive dental work, cosmetic surgery, hours at the gym, expensive outfits and glued on smile. Going to faraway photo shoots like the G20 makes for a new background that flatters her. She’s compiling a portfolio for future awfulness.

seadragon Fri 12-Jul-19 09:30:22

Grannycool52 - indeed: how did we come to where we are? Something we joked about (Trump and Johnson both in power) about to become a reality

quizqueen Fri 12-Jul-19 09:04:33

I expect she was ( non) elected by the same sort of team who thought an failed old drunk was suitable to be the President of the EU Empire.
