I can imagine we will be horror struck as next week plays out. The cabinet will be a sight to behold.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Jul-19 16:53:07

Dinahmo, I was posting Emily Thornberrys comments, not my opinion.

Jura2 Sadly many people, some of them on GN, believed the lies told by BS which is one reason why so many people voted to leave. During one Question Time programme (I forget whether this year or last) an audience member mentioned straight bananas (to uproar from the audience) and she wasn't joking.

Dinahmo Mon 29-Jul-19 16:46:24

GG13 Don't you think that a 4 year old or an elderly woman, presumably ill if she needs care, wouldn't be frightened by someone wearing a burqa?

Bute House. Lots of film footage by the BBC, but so far NO sound.

Why? Because of the huge amount of booing. It was enormous! Well done Scotland.

UPDATE: Boris Johnson has dropped the inquiry into govt minister, Mark Field, who was suspended for grabbing a Greenpeace protestor during a dinner in June. The PM's spokesperson said that this issue "was a matter for the previous PM"

Johnson has course been making up lies re 'silly and unfair' EU rules for a very long time - all of them utter rubbish. Several of us here on GN, have asked many times, please, give us ONE Rule, just ONE that was imposed on the UK by the EU. But nobody ever comes forward.

Anyway- funny, yes! Spot on, for sure!

So, a wannabe Prime Minister, in his last days of campaining- does the whole 'KIPPER' speech

- wtihout having a clue on many points

- so clueless that he does not even realise how stupid his comments were, and that they would backfire against him. British rules, not EU.

- and admitting he had met that day with the Editor of a National newspaper. Which one, I wonder - and why?

OK, you say- it was just a joke about a kipper! Apart that it was not a joke- and refer back to the above.

And today he decides to leave Javid and his 4 kids in a small apartment, whilst he lords it in the large house with just his 'partner'. So indicative of the man.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Jul-19 15:16:48

The Isle of Man holds neither membership or associate membership of the EU and lies, outside the European Economic Area.

Protocol 3 permits trade in Manx goods without non EU tariffs.

“Ruth and I are as one”

More lies???

Unless NI politicians start doing the job they're paid for, then there may be no option.

Laibak like Scotland and Wales NI has Westminster politicians, some of whom turn up to do their duty and speak for their constituents, and also an Assembly, none of whom have turned up for over two years.

Surely they want to have a say in what is best for their country? I am astonished that Direct Rule has not been implemented before now.

jura2 Mon 29-Jul-19 14:38:19

THAT Labaik is a question I have been asking for a while, and no-one seems to have an answer.

BTW and at a tangent- is the Isle of Man in the EU? I thought the whole point of Brexit is to protect Tax Havens and Tax Evasion by the very rich? Have we been kippered?

Labaik Mon 29-Jul-19 14:32:36

So, if N Ireland doesn't have a government as such why are the DUP have control of the balance of power in this country?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Jul-19 13:49:07

I think he is calling the N.I. Politicians bluff!!

The people of NI have been without their government for approximately 21/2 years, MPs getting paid for not doing their jobs?

Shoequeen53 Mon 29-Jul-19 13:45:25

It’s a threat to get N Irish politicians back to Stormont. If they’ve got any sense at all they’ll heed the warning and do it.

In less than a week, this country feels like a very scary place. I fear we’re going to be living under a dictatorship before much longer.

Labaik Mon 29-Jul-19 13:00:49

So there's now talk of 'direct rule' in N Ireland. Can anyone explain to me what this means and what the implications are likely to be? Don't seem to remember it being mentioned by him in his leave campaigning, either...[although he must have realised Ireland would be a problem, surely?]...

Lessismore Mon 29-Jul-19 12:51:11

If somebody was looking after a female largely indoors, they would not be wearing a burqa at all. It is outdoor wear.

I know of no occasion where somebody dressed head to toe in a burqa has been employed to look after a 4 year old.

GracesGranMK3 Mon 29-Jul-19 11:35:29

When Johnson said was offensive and, I would suggest, defined to appeal to those who like to hear Muslims offended.

This is what Emily Thornbury said m.youtube.com/watch?v=P2sSzQp-pM0

This is put out by an anti-Labour organisation. I don't think what ET says is in any way compatible with what BJ said personally. However, we all have the capability of making our own minds up.

jura2 Mon 29-Jul-19 11:27:37

As Boris has cancelled the promised investigation of islamophobia in the Tory Party ...because he knows what will be found.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 29-Jul-19 10:47:23

The other difference is that Labour are actively examining racism in the Labour Party.

The Tories aren’t.

Anniebach Mon 29-Jul-19 10:46:58

I didn’t know Thornberry said that ,

suziewoozie Mon 29-Jul-19 10:45:19

I actually agree with ET re the wearing of a burqa re interactions with certain professionals - I could add more - intimate physical examinations, counselling for starters.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Jul-19 10:21:58

MaizieD I am aware of that, and neither was Boris at the time he wrote the article.

MaizieD Mon 29-Jul-19 10:12:46

Emily Thornberry is not our Prime Minister, GG13

MaizieD Mon 29-Jul-19 10:11:50

Just to remind those who believe the lie about 'no deal' being talked about in the referendum campaign:
