I know we knew this would happen but it didn't stop my heart sinking when it was confirmed. It's not even about party politics. It's about him. The country is in such a terrible position and the thought of him being the one trying to solve all the problems is farcical at best and utterly depressing.

humptydumpty Tue 23-Jul-19 13:00:47

You're right suziewoozie I should have said curse! - just assumed others would know that...

Gonegirl Tue 23-Jul-19 13:04:12

Stella14 piccaninnies, letterboxes, bum boys

It's probably that kind of stuff that got him elected by the paid up members of the Conservative Party. grin

Nicenanny3 Tue 23-Jul-19 13:06:41

Well I'm pleased its Boris, pleased that ? liar May will be gone.

Elegran Tue 23-Jul-19 13:07:26

Let's just hope he has the sense to appoint people who have the knowledge, ability and experience to give him good advice and then the humility to take it.

We can always hope.

???

Anniebach Tue 23-Jul-19 13:10:58

Nightmare, but so is the opposition leader

Kandinsky Tue 23-Jul-19 13:12:13

No surprise.

Poppyred Tue 23-Jul-19 13:18:44

Let’s wait and see..... can’t be worse than Tony Blair (the worst ever prime minister in my opinion) John Major (useless) Gordon Brown (gormless).......and it goes on

mallows Tue 23-Jul-19 13:20:17

Boris this side of the pond, Trump the other...............heaven help us.

Perfectly summed up

craftyone Tue 23-Jul-19 13:21:44

yay. Well done Boris. Optimism at last, its been a long time coming

kittylester Tue 23-Jul-19 13:22:07

And, we would have got confused if we had 2 Jeremies.grin

The election of Boris and the disarray evident in the Labour party will, I hope, be a catalyst for large scale change in British politics.

maddyone Tue 23-Jul-19 13:22:27

I like him, it will be an interesting time now.

I didn’t like Theresa May, Tony Blair, or John Major. I liked David Cameron and quite liked Gordon Brown.

varian Tue 23-Jul-19 13:25:09

Trump has congratulated Boris. He can't wait to have the UK become a "vassal state" of the US, which would be inevitable if the brexit nonsense is not stopped.

maddyone Tue 23-Jul-19 13:25:51

I don’t dislike Jeremy Corbyn, but I think he’d be useless as PM. I hope he never is, but I think John McDonnell is dangerous.
Boris is definitely better than the opposition.

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 13:26:09

We now have buffoons on both sides of the Atlantic - you really couldn't make it up.

I am genuinely concerned, both in terms of what this means for Brexit and for the UK. We can only hope that the wiser, more moderate and more experienced politicians with a wider view of the world can steer this madness through the difficult times that lie ahead.

maddyone Tue 23-Jul-19 13:26:41

I really don’t think that’s right Varian, I think you’re exaggerating.

Luckygirl Tue 23-Jul-19 13:31:51

He can joke as much as he likes but he is a known liar and a cheat. I do not want our country represented by such a person.

Lessismore Tue 23-Jul-19 13:37:01

maddy, What did you like about Cameron? Do you think he could pop back and sort out the country he destroyed?

Xrgran Tue 23-Jul-19 13:39:41

Very scared we face a frightening future. How have we come to this.

westendgirl Tue 23-Jul-19 13:45:02

I can't help but think of the Emperor's New Clothes.
Gone Girl can I ask you what you mean by "do you want everyone to behave like 80 year olds ?"? How do you think 80 year olds behave ?

phoenix Tue 23-Jul-19 13:49:05

nicenanny3 and of course Boris has such a good reputation for always telling the truth.....................!NOT

KatyK Tue 23-Jul-19 13:50:38

The world's gone well and truly nuts. (In my opinion).

Gonegirl Tue 23-Jul-19 13:51:58

* westendgirl* grin I was waiting for that. Probably like I behave. I'm edging ever closer.

Gonegirl Tue 23-Jul-19 13:53:33

varian that worries me too. And it won't be stopped (Brexit).

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 13:55:46

I really don’t think that’s right Varian, I think you’re exaggerating

Let's imagine for a moment that the UK does become a vassal state. Do you think that would be good thing?
