I always thought that photo of Cherie in her nightie was quite endearing- it was the morning after the election I think and she answered to door to a flower delivery. All tousled haired and not yet transitioned to her new role - having to open her own front door. Clearly had just fallen out of bed when the bell went. I remember thinking, she’ll never be doing that again.

Boris is a serial cheat so there could well be a trail of women through his door ,is that what you want from your PM? Think of the decorating bills as every woman wants to put her stamp on no 11 .I think Boris should get his bidey in a nice wee place nearby for booty calls ,and IF they marry or commit to a long term relationship she can move in .
Being in a long term relationship myself I dont understand all this off with the old and on with the new stuff he does ,maybe he should grow up!

Not at all offensive (why would it be?) - these women decided their own place and that was to pursue their own interests, their own path, not just as an accessory to their husbands who happened to be Prime Minister.

On the contrary! Both may have stayed mainly out of the limelight - their own choice - but both contributed so much in their own way.
Dame Norma Major, author and philanthropist, still does today.

My meaning is that these women are not defined by their husbands' role, they found their own place in society.

They found themselves in a position they may not have wanted to occupy but still pursued their own interests and remained quietly strong-minded women.

Cherie seems to have whole-heartedly embraced the role of PM's spouse to the extent that she was erroneously referred to as First Lady (which she was not).

Cherie Blair was politically active before her marriage, she continued with her career when married. What the press chose to call her is suddenly true ?

If we are talking purely of the arrangements of the sitter in No 10 what should the public condemn more if that is their want.

1). A man / woman who has been separated for a while, divorcing and has been in a long term relationship with a new partner and is living with him / her.?

2) A man / woman who is still married, living in the marital home but having an affair behind his/her spouses back.?

I know Johnson can be accused of both but if the issue is about who Johnson is ' allowed' to have as his partner in No 10 to suit the clamour of the public surely he is not going to stop living with his partner just to please them. Why should a couple living together be separated to please the public.

Does no other Gransnetter have a son or daughter who is living with a partner waiting for divorce?

If so does he/she deserve the wrath Carrie Symonds is getting for having the cheek to live with a partner awaiting divorce?
