No Deal Brexit Leaflet...

The country is divided 50/50 over Brexit, so of course half will complain if there is a leaflet and the other half if there isn't. Please can someone explain the justification for it, since we are constantly being told by Leavers on these threads that they understood perfectly what the risks were when they voted Leave in the first place? So who needs a leaflet? And wouldn't the sides of a few buses cost far less and be much more effective?

GracesGranMK3 why do you think there will be extra checks at borders? - we regularly visit Montenegro, who aren’t part of the EU, going through passport control is no different to going through passport control in Spain, France, Portugal or any other country currently in the EU. The only difference is, we get a stamp in our passport!

Whitewavemark2 what makes you think that - like I said I visit regularly and I would say that the consensus of opinion is, that they may have changed their minds!

And the point I was making was, that they are not members at present, and border controls are the same as, if not easier than EU member countries.

Montenegro has signed a border check agreement with the EU. EU citizens can visit for up to 90 days without a visa. That is why you are finding it so easy.

Presumably this leaflet will be advocating brexit, but which type of brexit? Even keen ;leavers have never been able to agree on what brexit they think they voted for. The first step must be for brexiters to agree on that.

The next step should be to put the question to the people "do you want this brexit which this government is now pushing or would you rather the UK remains in the EU?.

The taxpayer should then fund two leaflets giving both sides of the argument.

When 80% of our national press plus the Brexit Broadcasting Corporation are already inundating us with pro-brexit lies, as they have done on a daily basis for years, we need a bit of balance, not more one-sided propaganda at the taxpayers expense.

Each time there is Referendum in the direct democracy that is SWitzerland, and totally different to the Parliamentary Democracy that is the UK - the Government has to publish an adivsory leaflet, often 10+ pages.

It has to show clearly the pros and cons- and the advice from each party. It has to be approved by all sides of the Government (which is always a coalition) and be seen to be absolutely impartial. In fact, a Ref last year was over-turned due to a slight bias in the leaflet. That is how it should be- not Party Propaganda.

Are they going to include this paragraph from a Leave HQ document from 2016?
‘One can say, unequivocally, that the UK could not survive as a trading nation by relying on the WTO Option. It would be an unmitigated disaster, and no responsible government should allow it. The option should be rejected.’

Oh, that's my favourite Leaver (or his son) Dr North, Nandalot. The UKIP founder member. I posted something from one of his blogs a few days ago. He's been researching the EU for years and years, co-wrote an anti-EU book and had a carefully thought out, and probably workable, plan for leaving the EU.

He's as firmly anti crashing out now as he was 3 years ago.

Pardon my mistake .....it was Cameron who sent the leaflets out.I & everyone else in my family voted to leave,most people in the area/county where I live voted to leave......

Urmstongran our Sainsbury's local, had that problem, they had closed all their chiller aisle with a notice stating it was due to the hot temperatures that they had overheated!!

Somewhere on the leaflet is a publishers name and address... I shal be popping mine directly into an unstamped envelope and returning it ....

Let’s face it whatever happens will be blamed on Brexit,already is.There are always going to be unhappy people wheather we leave or stay but the democratic vote was to leave & leave we must.We can make our country great again,we just need to all pull together .......stop being so pessimistic.I realise that I’m in the minority on Gransnet but I really couldn’t give a damn.......I may not have a degree or be academically brilliant but I have a voice & a vote & love my country.

By the way Varian,it said nothing on our referendum slip about any deals.......was just stay or leave ......no ties at all .
