I agree Paddyann, none of this asuterity was necessary, and apart from anything else, it hasn't worked. Jennifereccles that money has already been spent on shoring things up here while we prepare for the economic disaster that Brexit will bring, but hey, as long as you read it on the side of a bus it must be right. A point about the 20,000 Police Officers though; this headline figure may have satisfied some of the tabloid press but the truth is that it will take quite a while to recruit and train new officers assuming that there are the trainers and colleges there to accept this huge intake of course. Then, when this newly trained phalanx of officers is let loose, where do they go? Most Police Stations around here have been sold for housing and officers need a base, a place for paperwork, cells to hold the masses of criminals that Pritti Patel assures us will be swept off the streets. Where is all the equipment coming from and the senior officers who do on the street training and mentoring of newly qualified officers? I am glad that they have finally admitted that the 20,000 cut in officers was a huge mistake, but headline announcements need to be looked at closely.
