Is Harry less popular now?

Reading on the BBC News page that Harry is less popular since booking up with Megan. I thought I liked Megan and that she would be a calming influence but now I think she’s influencing him to a ridiculous degree and they are both behaving like Hollywood divas. What are your thoughts?

Anniebach Tue 20-Aug-19 11:26:26

How insulting to postmen ?

Lessismore Tue 20-Aug-19 11:27:42

My F in L used to be a postman and is also an author. Think he's pretty bright.

I feel that Harry is defending his wife (and her opinions) rather than quoting his own beliefs and their advisors need to pull them in a little.
As for William /Harry split , I'm more of the opinion that Harry found out what William was getting up to and that is the cause of the upset . Perhaps William told Harry to keep his nose out . As Usual the wives are bearing the brunt to take the pressure off the royals .

SirChenjin Tue 20-Aug-19 11:49:51

What’s William being getting up to?

SirChenjin Tue 20-Aug-19 11:49:58

Been

Anniebach Tue 20-Aug-19 12:38:14

I too would like to know what ‘William was getting up to’ and who are the wives bearing the brunt ? There has been no criticism of Kate so who are the wives ?

Iam64 Tue 20-Aug-19 13:15:00

Anniebach, I hadn't forgotten the death of your husband, or the ages of your young family when that happened. Apologies if my comment felt in any way personal

My point stands though. To lose a parent in adolescence is seen as particularly difficult because it occurs at the time when establishing identity as particularly significant. Harry is considered by most of us to have been the more vulnerable boy, based on his behaviour.

Anniebach Tue 20-Aug-19 13:32:22

Iam when a parent dies all the bereaved children are vulnerable. I speak not just as a mother of two bereaved children but as a grandmother of three bereaved grandchildren.

In my personal experience , not expert opinion, the eldest / elder child feels protective to the younger and the younger gets more attention ‘aw he/she is the youngest

Age does not lessen or increase vulnerability.

In my opinion William suffered so much, trying to comfort a mother who was mentally unbalanced, then not being the
‘Aw look at that little boy behind the coffin’ .

Most of you think differently? really

It seems to me that the Journalists have done an excellent job. They have managed to convince many of us that what they write about H & M& Meghan’s family ( plus anyone else they can earn a living from) is true.
I have no doubt that there are elements of truth , but much of it is worded & presented in an inflammatory way.
Prince Charles for example ( imo) rarely gets recognition for the projects he is involved with, people do not want to read about plants or projects which are actually providing jobs & careers for many young people .
I don’t know if Prince Harry, travels more often on fuel guzzling planes than he did before Meghan was around.
Presumably there are records & statistics ref Private money & Public money, does anyone know if this information is available to public scrutiny?

Callistemon Tue 20-Aug-19 14:35:47

I think any public money is allocated by the Queen out of the Sovereign Grant to those members of the family carrying out duties on her behalf Bridgeit.
Other income comes from the Duchy of Lancaster and her own private money.

I'm not sure how the Google save the planet trip was funded but presumably by Google, not by the taxpayer or by Harry or Meghan out of their private money.

Apparently the founder of Fox News 'rocked up' in his 2,300 horse power diesel 'yacht'.
Presumably he offset his carbon footprint by digging some holes and planting some trees.

Bridgeit Tue 20-Aug-19 14:51:06

Callistemon, thank you for your informative reply.
I think it helps how we view situations if we are furnished with the facts, sadly all too often we pass judgment when we are not.

Callistemon Tue 20-Aug-19 20:36:55

I hope that was right, Bridgeit!

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7378525/Jameela-Jamil-extraordinary-online-rant-defending-Prince-Harry-Meghan-Markle.html

According to Jameela Jamil. Who she? We've all lost our marbles in England She doesn't mention Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland because they obviously know how to treat celebs or....maybe she doesn't know they are part of the United Kingdom. grin

Callistemon Wed 21-Aug-19 12:14:27

Of course we do, that's why Tom Jones, Catherine Zeta Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Sheen et al all live in the States and not deepest, darkest Wales grin

Callistemon Wed 21-Aug-19 12:19:58

What she has spouted is racist.

I doubt anyone notices Megan is mixed race.
Everyone thinks her (black) mother is wonderful, lovely, dignified.

People do not like hypocrisy wherever it emanates. Nor do people like 'luvvie' behaviour from their royals.

Callistemon Wed 21-Aug-19 12:24:23

Whoever this Jameela Jamil is, merlot, a piece in that link says that she doesn't speak to her parents any more.

Perhaps they're English.

merlotgran Wed 21-Aug-19 12:26:56

So it's OK for this woman to refer to us all as 'absolute muppets' but any criticism of hypocritical behaviour and out comes the race card.

She's doing H&M no favours at all with this childish rant.

Callistemon Wed 21-Aug-19 12:31:53

She must be a friend of Meghan as she was one of 'the chosen' by Megs to go on the front page of Vogue.

Where are all Harry's friends these days? Keeping a low profile or abandoned?

maddyone Wed 21-Aug-19 12:34:17

What an extraordinary racist rant! No discussion of the issues , just a racist rant.

Bridgeit Wed 21-Aug-19 13:15:06

I believe the media Choose what they report & how they word the report, so if you aren’t seeing anything other than these negative S__t stirring stuff it’s because that’s not what the media chooses to report.

mabon1 Wed 21-Aug-19 13:18:25

Who cares?

Bridgeit Wed 21-Aug-19 13:19:39

Lots of people seem to judging by this thread?

SirChenjin Wed 21-Aug-19 13:52:06

There are plenty of other non judgemental threads to choose from if you feel this one isn't for you smile

Anniebach Wed 21-Aug-19 13:54:26

You English need to understand , Megan and Harry travel by private jets to save your lives ?

I am Welsh so can say they fly by private jets because they are
hypocrites

TerriBull Wed 21-Aug-19 14:32:28

It does seem to me that those famous vociferous green folk, who subscribe to caring about the environment, but not enough to stop larging it up by flying here, there and everywhere, are closing ranks around each other. Collective guilt maybe hmm I think I read that Ellen DeGeneres, is the latest to say "lay of Harry and Meghan, the most down to earth people you could possibly meet" allegedly confused in her world maybe, but the ordinary mortal might well question that with as "as opposed to whom" It does seem the longer you rub shoulders with the great and the good, the more likely it is to lose touch with reality. Moreover, the more these "superiors" prattle on in such a vein and trot out the cliche ridden, smugly odious "I've planted a few trees" every time they jet off, the more transparent and lightweight they become. But if Ms DeGeneres et al were truly down to earth that would be apparent hmm
