Unless by "innovative and green" *lessismore" means something along the lines of electric tandem/triple bikes. Or rickshaws.

Is Prince Andrew's protestation too little too late?
(294 Posts)I think the Palace would have been wiser to have kept silent. It's short statement, filled with all with all the strong emotional words describing what any decent person feels concerning child abuse, only begs the question;
Why now?
Why so strong, now? Everyone knew this a decade ago. Andrew knew his friend had made a deal to avoid these kinds of charges in 2008. Why become so appalled now when he, Andrew, stood by Epstein even after some of his offending came to light?
Epstein died in a New York prison cell on 10 August as he awaited, without the chance of bail, his trial on sex trafficking charges.
In the announcement made on Sunday 18th August, Prince Andrew has said how appalled he is about the sexual behaviour with young girls his former friend Jefferey Epstein is accused of.
Yet he kept in contact with the billionaire sex offender after his 2008 conviction. He knew then that Epstein was on the Sex Offenders Register (USA). The photo of the two men walking in Central Park in 2010 led to serious criticism of the prince concerning his judgement about spending time with a sex offender and staying at his house. He was himself photographed with his arm around 17 year old scantily clad Virginia Roberts at Epstien's house, where he is also filmed smiling and waving through the door at young girls leaving.
To quote Jonny Dymond, BBC Royal Reporter:
"But to see him inside Epstein's house, as young women come and go, looking for all the world as if he was a happy house-guest, is a disturbing sight. And strong though the palace statement may be it, it fails to answer the central question.
Just what was Prince Andrew doing visiting the house of a convicted paedophile?"
It seems far too late, for me, that the Palace issue this statement after the death of Epstein. Why did not the Prince dissociate himself from this man's vile behaviour in 2008?
This was when he received an 18-month prison sentence, after a controversial secret plea deal, when he avoided up to 45 years in prison if convicted of sex trafficking and conspiracy charges, to which he pleaded not guilty, by instead pleading guilty to a lesser charge of soliciting a minor for prostitution.
It is too striking that this public protest of revulsion about the depravity of his erstwhile friend's activities has been made suddenly after that man's death.
Could it be that while Jefferey Epstein was still alive, there was a reason why he could not say, "the suggestion he would condone, participate in or encourage any such behaviour is abhorrent." ? Would his erstwhile friend, perhaps, have testified with evidence to suggest otherwise?
Well, yes, they have been trialed.
OK here, is an example, the property I refer to did put on small buses from a local depot. The service was withdrawn unfortunately.
annepl I agree that the logistics of arranging transport are impossible as a regular service. However, if the NT were to commit to encouraging a wider range of members, as well as publicising its monthly dd and picnic areas etc, maybe during the school holidays, some properties could trial putting on a bus service one day a week, using local media etc to publicise it and see how it goes. The bus could run from the nearest rail station for example
Possibly Suzie. You may have a point in that they could publicise information a lot more. It does same a shame that a large section of the population are excluded from enjoying these lovely places. Theyre often quitecempty. I myself am a member and didn't know you can pay by DD. It seems unfair that only pensioners get concessionary membership. I think I might write to the trust.
Your idea of a bus trial during summer holidays is a good idea. Maybe on a Saturday.
They're often quite empty! excuse errors.
What are these buses to do when they are not ferrying people to & from NT properties? The local town buses where my mum lives don't run in the afternoons because that's when they're picking up school children to take them home.
No one can afford to have buses sitting idle.
Just looked at NT properties I have visited in Kent. They generally give public transport directions. The problem seems to be the long walk after this and maybe the trust could help at this point- perhaps a volunteer with one of those buggy things that they have.
We should have had a separate thread for this.
Looked at Hever Castle incidentally (not NT). Very expensive and directions for taxi from train station!
Sue hence my suggestion - it’s obvious there couldn’t be a regular service but occasional one offs could help.
Is this a thread about costs of days out?
Oops

Are things beginning to unravel for “air miles” ?
I thought this thread was about Andy, not travel?
I think he should stand trial.
I certainly think he has a few questions to answer . Should be interesting . Of course mummy might still pull a few strings yet. Maybe a call to Mr T asking him to “leave it” in return for a stay in a castle
Is there proof ?
Yes sorry. Back to Andy. Needs to be investigated.
I agree that it needs to be thoroughly investigated and if there's sufficient evidence he should go to trial.
I don't agree with the woman making as far as I'm aware, vague accusations and anyone being tried by media. If she has specific accusations to make she should do so to the relevant authorities and not make vague ones to the world's press.
Proof of what Annie? That he spent a fair bit of time with his chum Epstein and co. ? I think we know this to be the case.
Surely only a court could establish whether airmiles was in on it too.
I agree that trial by media is neither right nor fair, but neither is potentially getting away with a serious crime because of who you are.
The woman claims she was forced to perform sex acts with many men, yet for the press yesterday she named only one , why not the well known prime minister, the foreign president, the hotel chain owner from France .
gilly was spending time with Epstein a criminal offence?
Despite some protestations to the contrary, Andrew, tge Queen’s (yes as in Queen) son carried on a friendship with a convicted paedophile. This is a fact and nothing short of a complete and utter disgrace regardless of anything more he may or may not have done. He is morally guilty at the very least. And I’ll repeat that I thought less of the Q for staging a photo op going to church with him. I agree with gilly completely and think very little of those posters opinions that seem to want to defend the RF whatever and don’t seem to understand the concept of moral culpability regardless of legal culpability. As I’ve said before, I can usually take or leave the RF but they should damn well behave themselves
gilly was spending time with Epstein a criminal offence?
Of course one can choose the company one keeps Annie and if one decides to keep company with paedophiles and the likes one shouldn't be surprised if one gets caught up in the sh*t that goes with it.
By choosing to spend time with Epstein, airmiles has left himself totally open to all kinds of accusations. Only a trial will get to the bottom of it. Having said that, we know what happens to those who know too much, speak out etc.
Are the rf going to wiggle themselves out of this one? Probably .
Questioning what is a criminal offence and not a criminal offence is not defending anyone .
I haven’t read one post which defends the friendship.
gilly you want everyone who spent time with Epstein prosecuted ?
I don’t get excited about conspiracy theories, just look at the facts.
I would like to see those who knew what he was really up to, to be made accountable (withholding evidence, condoning criminal behaviour...etc.) for their actions or non-actions. Whether this results in a criminal trial/conviction or not. Just because airmiles is the queens son he is not above the law or indeed beyond moral duty and that goes for presidents, ex presidents and whoever else kept his dirty, not so little secrets
One could be forgiven for ending a friendship and distancing themselves once things became apparent but that didn't seem to happen did it?
I'm puzzled how anyone defend a friendship with Epstein.
