Jabberwok an interesting list and some of the reasons why some of my (non-thick, non-racist) friends and one or two family members voted to leave.
They were all considerations for many of us but I think that i and many others voted remain for security and a case of being nervous of the unknown therefore 'better the devil you know' in an increasingly uncertain world.
No-one should be gloating, we should all be hoping for the best deal possible and an alliance in place of membership.

Get over it.

We too face an uncertain future, a lot of our suppliers are in Germany, and although they have tried to make preparations for a no deal, we don’t really know where we are.
We are a small company, but five members of our family are dependent on it, plus another half a dozen young men with mortgages and families, and a few older part timers.
I voted remain, but I accept we’re leaving, just want to get on with it.
I believe that those rights will be enshrined in UK law, as thus has already been committed to trisher.
I agree and these were the reasons I voted, after a lot of thought, to leave, but why are left wing politicians so enamoured?! Surely the culture of the EU flies in the face of left wing politics?!
Certainly Tony Benn was no advocate for the EU! Nor was Corbyn in a previous role.
Could it have something to do with Russia though?
Sara65, I am truly sorry for all the worry this has brought you and your family and like callistemon I too believe these rights will be enshrined in UK law, and just wish, after three long weary years that we could get on with it and settle down!!
Kandinsky Why do you interpret the statement that "most remainers just want it over" as "most remainers want to leave"?
I've just looked at a summary of the polls which shows that for many months more people want to remain and more people think it wrong to leave the EU.
I find the OP shameful. Its only aim is to stir and upset others; others who are already upset and worried. There was a poster some months ago who posted similar childish comments: andi (andy?). I wonder whether the clue is in
K andi nsky.
It would have been better to leave this OP well alone.
For those who just want it over with I am sorry to disappoint but it won't be over for years. The trade negotiations will take years and most of us will probably be dead before the country has recovered to anything like the position it is in whilst we are still in the EU. But, hey, we'll have taken back control.
Someone on here has complained about remainers posting links and references to other documents. That's something leavers very rarely do. And the reason (IMO) is that leavers just believe and remainers are attempting to give facts and figures data to back up their statements.
No Tony Benn was very against joining Europe, as was Enoch Powell!! The only time they shared a platform, understandably!!!! At that time of course we were told emphatically that it was a Trade block, and would never ever be anything but that! In those days of course we believed our politicians! How wrong we were!! If it were still just a trade block, I'm sure most of us would be perfectly happy to remain, I know I would, it's what it's become that is the problem!!
Those who believe that human rights and employment laws will be enshrined in UK law are wrong I'm sad to say. There are no guarantees that will happen. Laws can be repealed and if the present government want that to happen, it will, provided that they have a sufficient majority.
I think the OP is being mischievous.
I am a Remainer - not a Remoaner. I don't moan, merely think that we are in a perilous state and all because of lies meted out to us by our politicians.
I believe that incorrect statistics/'facts' were bandied about at the time of the referendum and these were believed and thought true by many, hence the narrow victory for 'Leave'.
However, as the years have trundled by, it has been shown that many of these statistics were inaccurate and now some Leavers have changed their mind; if there were another vote (which there probably won't be) I wonder if the Remain vote would prevail. I'll never know.
Does anyone remember when the International Monetary Fund were in Britain every few months to bail/sort us out? All pre-EU membership.
A question for Leave voters: are you stocking up on anything?
It’s not attractive to be a sore loser and take your anger out on people who just voted a different way from you. But Kadinsky that is exactly what you are doing.
The pot calling the kettle black is the phrase that springs to mind. Can you think of any cause anywhere ever where both sides have not included an unpleasant lunatic fringe?
I am so sorry that someone said something nasty to you and upset you, let me offer you the compassion and love you so surely deserve.
Although I do see the original poster’s point it’s important to remember that we haven’t actually left yet.
Unfortunately there are many MPs determined to stop Brexit happening at all, and they dress it up as just objecting to a no deal escape.
I will rejoice properly only once we have left.
All that rejoicing because people will lose their jobs, small farmers will be obliterated, we will be vassals of Trump. Marvellous. Still millionaire tax dodgers can rip up the EU tax avoidance legislation and move all their money in euros as many have done already. And back to IRA bombs even better.
Mightn’t it be wiser to just stop posting on this thread?
"Does anyone remember when the International Monetary Fund were in Britain every few months to bail/sort us out? All pre-EU membership. "
Hi there, Candelle.
We joined the EU in 1973.
The Labour Government applied to the IMF in 1976.
"Unfortunately there are many MPs determined to stop Brexit happening at all, and they dress it up as just objecting to a no deal escape."
JenniferEccles why is it "unfortunate" that people have a different view to you? I haven't seen anyone dressing up the fact that they don't want the UK to leave EU. It seems to me they have said it loudly, clearly and often. There are others with a more centrist view. Again, why are they not allowed to hold that view and why suggest that is not their view. When did we not only get closed down not only on offering our point of view but even thinking it?
You make it sound like some sort of thought crime. If that is what you want I suggest you should be careful what you wish for.
Once again why are the far left so keen on the capitalist EU?!!
Because the far right government of the UK is a very scary prospect!
And will introduce a period of unregulated capitalism with the extension of zero hours contracts, even more tax evasion and a low pay economy. But hey it's only poor people who will suffer.
That could depend who or what you are describing as "far-left".
Perhaps you could clarify Jabberwok, then someone could try to give an answer.
Sorry it is a nasty post. And as for calling remainers remoaners, remember that we had a referendum back in the 1970s which decided to remain back then. Ever since then there have been people moaning about leaving, moaning for40 years.... showing that if you go on about something long enough you'll get another vote. Just following in their footsteps really
Opal: ' what are "my values"?'
we can only guess Opal. The values of someone who is prepared to allow people to really suffer, be it in losing their job, losing their farm, losing their right to live in the country where their family is, where they have been for a lifetime, working hard, contributing. The values of someone who is prepared for people not to get their lifesaving medicines or treatment (never mind HRT), and to see the country going down the shute and becoming vassals of Trump- with all the lowering of standards for the foods we eat, and puts our lives at risk with hormone and antibotics feed cattle and chlorinated chickens - never mind the husbandry and welfare issues, and on, and on.
We can only guess - and it does not look good. This is not a snide, nor an insult- just fact.
