I am livid to see this and well done to Caroline Lucus for calling him out on it.

I wonder how his fans here regard this behaviour?

Imagine a female, possibly even an overweight one ( !) behaving in such a manner or a left winger or Diane Abbott or just about anybody really!! It is quite unbelievable.

That image will haunt JRM fore the rest of his political life, which, with a bit of luck, will be cut short at the next election.

This image of a “ Lying Tory” was projected onto Edinburgh castle yesterday. I thought he’d live to regret that image.

He is practicing for the House of Lords.

Quote "Boris Johnson is nothing like Winston Churchill.

"I don't think anyone has called Boris a diplomat or statesman.

"We all know the pluses and minuses, everyone he has worked for says the same thing: he writes beautifully [but he's] deeply unreliable."

Labaik Mon 09-Sept-19 11:27:59

I didn't know that. I believe Caroline Lucas isn't going to let him drop the things he said about that doctor even though he has made a half hearted apology. Have people forgotten that the ERG's initial attempt to oust May failed; they're not as clever as they think they are. I need to read the complete article by Soames; he supposedly said that Johnson really does think he's Churchill shock.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 09-Sept-19 10:13:03

Anyone been wondering what Soames meant by “a piece of ginger stuck up his ass”

I have. Well now I have found out

It is used to liven up an old nag that is up for sale.

???

It was rude, arrogant, appalling - and seen as such all over the world, in the world's Press and in the world's TVs- including the EU, of course.

I thought JRM's behaviour was utterly rude and what he himself would call 'ungentlemanly'. When Caroline Lucas (and others) called him out on it he only had to apologise but he was too superior even to bother with that. I suppose we plebs should be grateful that he didn't put his shoes on the bench.
He can be courteous enough sometimes but chose not to bother to be on that occasion.

Have a cuppa EnglishRose.

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 20:16:21

Soames is obviously not as important or well informed as English Roses 'friend' obviously...

M0nica Sat 07-Sept-19 20:08:37

Labaik, I have just read them grin grin grin

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 20:02:11

So you haven't read Nicholas Soames thoughts on Rees Mogg then?

EnglishRose Sat 07-Sept-19 19:55:30

Whatever ??

Lessismore Sat 07-Sept-19 19:54:06

Do you know what dear English Rose, silly old me t'was in fact a jolly jape by the dear chap.

Yes indeed erudite and honest by Jove. What a fool that damnable Lucas woman is. Far better off at home pruning rose bushes, or whatever it is she does.

varian Sat 07-Sept-19 19:49:46

When I saw the lout Rees-Mogg mocking our parliament so blatantly it reminded me of the two Russian "tourists" talking about their trip to Salisbury. It said "I can do or say what I like. You all know I am lying/ being deliberately disrespectful, but what are you going to do about it?"

EnglishRose Sat 07-Sept-19 19:45:50

I’m not livid ?. I thought it was funny and thankfully his body language was totally nonchalant, rather as if he was saying....now now, what’s all this fuss about.

Love JRM. Always erudite, always honest.

I thought the Lucas woman was just angling for attention. JRM has been on a discussion panel with her last year. She was hysterical. And I don’t mean in a funny way. ?

M0nica Sat 07-Sept-19 19:43:34

It is not the sleeping, I doubt he was, but the languid pose, like an odalisque on a divan artuk.org/discover/artworks/odalisque-reclining-on-a-divan-4991. He is the Leader of the House, he should have been alert, attentive and watching what was happening.

Even in the House of Lords those who hold responsibility for proceedings there, The Chancellor on his woolsack or his deputies, and the Government whips there do not snooze during proceedings

Lessismore Sat 07-Sept-19 18:26:24

How can anyone be 'livid' about JRM half lying on a Commons bench

Because he represents constituents, the House , the people, his beloved political party at a time of national importance and he sees fit to lie down?

How can anybody not be livid please?

EnglishRose Sat 07-Sept-19 17:57:56

Where did you get that Labaik? I heard otherwise from a friend who works in the HoC and although she is under the OSA she can state an opinion.

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 17:53:41

Why are people on here defending him when even his fellow MP's are angry at his behaviour?

varian Sat 07-Sept-19 17:37:12

JRM is supposed to be the Leader of the House of Commons and leaders are supposed to set an example.

I was hardly a fan of the last leader, Andrea Leadsom, but I cannot imagine her behaving in such a boorish manner. Can you?

EnglishRose Sat 07-Sept-19 17:35:03

How can anyone be 'livid' about JRM half lying on a Commons bench ??? Surely that takes it all too far? Be livid about the attack on our democracy by all means, but a simple repose from a politician. Good Lord. What have we come to.

They sleep in the House of Lords. Camera footage has caught them many a time. I suggest perspective is called for here!

Jabberwok Sat 07-Sept-19 16:20:44

I think the Speakers comments to Michael Gove were way more insulting than JRM having a well earned zzzzz in the H of C but no one seems bothered by that! Look hard enough and you'll see politicians of all persuasions having the odd forty winks, usually in the middle of some stultifying debate!

varian Sat 07-Sept-19 15:42:21

In the Local Elections earlier this year in Rees-Mogg heartland, angry voters turned to the Lib Dems because of the Brexit chaos.

For the first time in living memory, the Mendip ward where Rees Mogg lives has elected a councillor who is not a Tory.

In each of the last general elections Mogg's majority has been reduced. If there is a "Remain Alliance" at the next election, he could be booted out.

I would think that his insulting behaviour in the House of Commons must increase the chances of that.

Labaik Sat 07-Sept-19 11:59:32

Well, Farage was never there supporting the people he was supposed to be supporting [eg the fishermen].Only turned up to criticise the EU. Don't think the new Brexit MEP's bother to turn up either, do they?
