It has been pointed out that JRM is very tall, the loud speakers are placed in the back of the seats which are quite low - perhaps he was trying to ensure that he heard every word that was being said. It should also be noted that the HofC was almost empty at the time so he was hardly stopping anyone sitting down.

There was a furore several months ago when a Labour MP was pictured in a similar position with eyes shut, he was hard of hearing and had positioned himself close to the inbuilt speaker.

There are bigger things to worry about than a slouching MP in an almost empty House of Commons.

They can all stand on their heads stark naked with a flower in their derrières if that is what it will take to sort out this mess!!!!!

People with all sorts of disabilities seem to manage quite well but yes tall is problematic.
