Tory Party conference in Manchester

Seems MPs have rejected an attempt by the government to adjourn parliament to allow Tory politicians to attend the Conservative party conference in Manchester.

The event, due to start on Sunday and continue until Wednesday, comes the weekend after Labour held its party conference in Brighton and two weeks after the Liberal Democrats held theirs in Bournemouth.

Thoughts on this?

WWMK2 and trisher does it make you feel superior ganging up and belittling another poster?

WWMK2 your post today 10.09 is really unnecessary and very rude.

Resume of yesterday’s conference

The star billing was to have been Geoffrey Cox, but he is now persona non grata as he buggered up the trial so he was wiped from the programme and Kit Malthouse was drafted in to fill his slit.

Unfortunate choice as Malthouse is both mediocre and junior.

He started off ok. “We in the Tories” he announced “ will increase the police numbers by 20000”
“This will be the biggest increase since err, err”
I can help you Kit - the biggest increase since the Tories cut the numbers by - You’ve guessed it - 20000.

He seemed to lose the audience entirely after that.

Patel seems to have made a speech that was guaranteed to piss off a number if minority’s including the Jewish contingent in north London and the Muslim contingent in the rest of the country.

It was unfortunate that her message of the Tories being the party of law and order doesn’t appear to have reached either her comatose audience nor the wider party at large.

(JohnCrace)

Psycho Geoff was on his way home after being kicked out by the police for having a punch up at the conference.

The Party Leader has been accused of channelling public funds to a “friends with benefits” American Company

The party leader has been accused of groping at least two woman in public

The government refuses to accept the law of the land, because it doesn’t want to.
It is in a full out search to try to get around a law passed by the sovereign parliament

Mark Francois commits crimes against his own sanity.

Patel is even willing to starve the Irish into submission.

What happened in the 90s then? I was watching Jeremy Vine yesterday and someone mentioned that crime was higher back then. Which appears to be true if you care to google.

So we had labour in power, no austerity. Why were we all being so terribly violent?

Impartialandeducated Wed 02-Oct-19 09:45:39

Poor old Grany. The whole of W Europe does not have a heartless Tory govt. However I have recently visited Greece and Italy and the austerity here has been much worsevthan anything we have seen. Old age pensions here in Italy are at 500 euros per month, very few having a second pension, like public sector employees in UK, unemployment is at 9.5% compared with 4% in Uk, working age tobrise to 67 before pensions are payable...I could go on but would be accused of ranting. What I would likevto hear from all the Labour bigots, deluded at that, is their ideas, not their negativity. Lefties on here fo NOT want brexit, do NOT want a deal, do NOT want businesses making a profit. The same seems to apply to the labour MPs who want to frustrate everything. Austerity, if it exists, was clearly necessary throughout W Europe, it was not desirable but sometimes you have to take the rough with the smooth.

The Tory Party in action -Be afraid, Be very afraid! While they sleep Boris is busy!

Grany Wed 02-Oct-19 08:37:56

How anyone can vote Tory now is beyond me. The unnessessary Austerity that caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. Cuts to police, underfunding, education NHS You are complicit in their deaths.

And where does jo Swinson's money come from the the same place as Johnson and no deal backers. She is a Tory she voted more than some Tories for austerity cut to the minimum wage. She still backs austerity.

Lots of garbled and incomprehensible posts on this thread. A bit like the current political situation.

GRANDAD missed the point again.!!!!!!

Grandad1943 Tue 01-Oct-19 20:51:55

Apologies should be stated in my post above not started. ?

Grandad1943 Tue 01-Oct-19 20:50:19

Impartialandeducated your above post also makes no sense. Do you have any links to where the Labour Party has started it will give amnesty to any criminal who has been tasered in the course of their arrest?

If there are no such links it would seem your post contains little in the way of an educated statement.

Impartialandeducated Tue 01-Oct-19 19:43:44

Laibak Dont worry, if they use the tasers, thecriminals will be given amnesty and compensation by the next Labour government and the policemen hauled before the courts. Mind you they'll all be dead and buried by that time and us grans certainly will be

Firecracker123 Tue 01-Oct-19 19:06:13

Yawn

GillT57 Tue 01-Oct-19 18:59:39

Come on leavers put your thinking caps on, they are short of ideas it seems. Any daft idea accepted.

David Allen Green
@davidallengreen

Dominic Cummings appears to have tasked each Brexiter MP to come up with an ingenious legalistic way of blocking the Benn Act

By any daft means necessary

This is just the political equivalent of Wacky Races

Labaik Tue 01-Oct-19 18:01:17

The party of law and order; they have, over the years, reduced the number of police dramatically but, hey, they're going to give the ones that are left lots of tasers. Sorted.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 01-Oct-19 17:56:21

Statement from Geoffrey Clifton Brown “ There was a minor verbal misunderstanding. The police have not contacted me at all. I am mortified that something so minor seems to have been blown out of all proportion and if anyone has been offended, I apologise unreservedly. I will co-operate with the Party in any investigation”

Impartialandeducated Tue 01-Oct-19 17:41:51

GRAPEFRUIT....Why do you think you have the right to try to curtail Lemon's comments.
She talks a lot of sense. Don't bully her.
