33 days to go .... What’s the Brexit plan?

Something’s afoot!

The SNP’s embrace – with a public show of reluctance – for the idea of sending Jeremy Corbyn into Downing Street shows the mounting tetchiness among Remainers that somehow Boris will be able to get around the Benn Act, and thereby leave the UK hurtling towards a no deal by the end of next month unless they take action.

What are your thoughts on what’s going on?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 13-Oct-19 11:39:13

I think what we must never forget as far as Corbyn is concerned is that he is a Bennite, through and through.

Look at that philosophy and you’ll understand Corbyn.

He has never wavered.

Whitewavemark2, I feel your above source could possibly be right, but having never heard of him/her before I would tend to be sceptical.

I will wait and see if other media report the story, and if they do so what Jeremy Corbyn has to say himself in regard to the matter. Time will tell on that.

I am far more concerned that some so-called Labour MPs are thinking of supporting this withdrawal agreement when Johnson has removed all the protections placed in the Theresa May agreement in regard to workers rights conservation.

That could have a huge fundamental impact on employment in Britain especially in regard to women.

grandad there are loads of other reports.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 12:34:33

Monday - Queen's Speach + the first day of debate on the Queen's Speach
Tuesday - second day of debate on Queen's Speach
Wednesday of debate on Queens Speach
Thursday - Crucial two-day summit of EU leaders begins in Brussels. This is the last such meeting currently scheduled before the Brexit deadline.
Saturday - Special sitting of Parliament and the date by which the PM must ask the EU for another delay to Brexit under the Benn Act, if no Brexit deal has been approved by Parliament and they have not agreed to the UK leaving with no-deal.

I can't see why Corbyn's office would be issuing a change of appointments if we don't even know if we will have a government on that day. I imagine we will hear more as the week progresses.

Sir Malcontent has an axe to grind. I don't think Corbyn has attended any of the People's Vote events, has he?

You surprise me at times, GGMK2

Crunch sort of day, whatever the circumstances, and you don't see why Corbyn should change his plans?

Grandad1943 Sun 13-Oct-19 12:51:01

We do not even know if there will be an agreement to vote on. So, why change a calendar at this stage, as it may well be in the hands of the courts by next Saturday if Johson has no asked for a extension in the light of no deal.

MaizieD Sun 13-Oct-19 13:00:38

Perhaps at least indicate preparedness for a change of calendar?

Corbyn loses lots of support every time he appears indifferent to events. Particularly his indifference to Brexit.

lemongrove Sun 13-Oct-19 13:01:25

Whatever you think of Corbyn ( like him or loathe him) he is the LOTO and absolutely must be in the HoC next Saturday.A dereliction of duty otherwise.
He has no need to be in Liverpool on the Friday either.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 13:10:08

I expect he will Maizie but to what? On Monday the Queen's speech could be voted down. If things don't change during the week I will wonder why.

Imagine me to be as patient as I actually am and you will get fewer surprises smile

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 13:12:45

Patient but, I realise as I read other posts, I don't suffer fools gladly.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 13:15:06

It is a question of perception Maizie. I don't perceive him as indifferent to Brexit.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 13:28:59

Last thought on this. How do we know it's is even true? Those who want it to be true seem to believe a man who calls himself Sir Malcontent even though saying it with no reference yo anything we might normally accept as a good source. If it was something you were not so intent on believing you would be asking for proper proof.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 13-Oct-19 14:04:36

gg3 that is just one link there are a lot of others.

MaizieD Sun 13-Oct-19 14:15:52

You're not on twitter, are you, GGMK3?

Wwmk2 was just reporting one tweet among many, I've seen several to that effect this morning. Even been told what time the rally is grin (7pm)

Fine. It is where they are and what he sees as best at the moment. It doesn't change my mind that, at this moment, it is not the end of the world. I shall continue to watch and listen to what Johnson is doing. At this moment in time his moves seem much more worrying.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 15:04:58

Links not working UG.

Urmstongran Sun 13-Oct-19 15:21:24

Neither is Labour.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 13-Oct-19 15:41:13

Possibly, possibly not but it doesn't change the fact that I can't find the page you directed me too.

1️⃣7️⃣ days to go.

?

The MPs who have shouted, screamed and stamped their feet for extra time to debate Brexit, to allow meaningful votes and indicative votes, to win control of the Commons timetable, and to legislate for delay are about to come unstuck.

Ultimately, they want to stop Brexit whilst just insisting they want No Deal.

And now, because Boris appears close to a deal – which they had believed was impossible – they are terrified they will miss their chance.

It’s going to be a very interesting week isn’t it?

GracesGranMK3 Mon 14-Oct-19 09:32:36

And now, because Boris appears close to a deal

Really? Who, other than perhaps the DM, who have noticeable led with a completely different story but perhaps says something inside, has said that. Where are you getting that information from?
