Well ‘business needs certainty’ is the clarion call of the CBI.

The Pound was hovering at its highest levels for months today amid rising optimism over a Brexit deal!

Sterling was above 1.146 versus the euro - rates not seen since May.

Michel Barnier and Steve Barclay fuelled hopes that a Brexit deal is close this morning as they insisted it is 'very possible' to seal a package for a crunch EU summit this week.

If we are still in the EU at that point Grandad the "No Deal" vote would be split with Brexit too.

If Boris Johnson enters the forthcoming General Election campaign on a ticket of a no deal leave, the Tories will be wiped out in parliament.

The polls consistently show now that less than 30% of the Electorate wish for Britain to withdrawal from the European Union with no agreement whatsoever.

If it comes to a GE Boris will still do well in my opinion. The electorate (well Leavers!) know how difficult it’s been trying to get anything done without a majority.

I think that’ll change in a few weeks!

Ah right. No wonder we can’t keep up with developments! They made such a big thing of the fact that Parliament hadn’t sat on a Saturday since the Falklands war.

I think it is yet to be confirmed UG by the government and this may not happen until the business bit of parliament on Friday.

I think the Saturday sitting IS still on GGmk3? The MP’s have to vote on the deal if it’s ready, I think. If it’s not ready then I think that’s when Boris has to be forced by law to send a letter to the EU begging for (another) extension.

I hope they don’t give us one. But they will. The EU have Remainer MP’s whispering in their ear who still hope to connive, thwart and plot to overturn Brexit so it doesn’t happen at all.

It made me laugh when I read someone describe the Bill or Act (?) by Hilary Benn being called ‘The Benn Dover Act’.

Isn't interesting that we saw an attack on Corbyn because he hadn't cancelled a long-term arrangement for Saturday on one of the threads on here and only this morning I hear that the government has not yet confirmed the Saturday sitting will actually take place. Lots of smoke and mirrors I feel in order to 'place' people's own favourites or the opposite.

I just wish I could find a reliable source of facts.

Reading this morning it seems the EU may vote Johnson's deal through (but not this week) but then they voted for May's Deal. They can hardly be seen as the bad guys. Apparently the numbers are growing for attaching a confirmatory vote though.

Tusk has just told Johnson that a deal cannot be agreed by the European Council this week. So Johnson will have to apply for an extension

I’m not so sure about ‘a deal’ as such growstuff as it would always have to get ‘watered down’ to pass a vote (to be acceptable to the EU as well as the HoC) so to be PURE a referendum would definitely have to allow (no shenanigans after the vote!) Leaving with No Deal if the EU were intransigent and Remain.

I honestly think now, it’s a black or white as that.

I don't get the fear of the second referendum either. If there is a majority either for or against we know what the country wants. I really don't see why they don't want a democratic vote before making the biggest decision in decades. It seems those who want to leave will try and do it even if the majority turn out not to want it and they are scared of a confirmatory vote for that reason.

I know what I want to happen - second referendum with a choice between the current "deal" and a full explanation about what that actually means and revoke.

What an absolute farce that they're still playing at party politics with people's futures.

There are signs that Tory Eurosceptics are moving towards backing an agreement, partly because they fear that Labour could try to push for a second referendum instead of an election.

It was so badly done in the first place UG that we could go on forever. My thoughts are still, revoke, get a deal worked out, hold Citizen's Assemblies so we all know what it means and then vote on the actual, possible deal and, for the first time in three-plus years, let's get back to behaving like decent human beings.

Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, used an interview in the Austrian press to say that if there was a British request for a Brexit extension, it would be granted.

Former Cabinet minister Owen Paterson was exasperated by the EU’s demand for the UK to give further ground.

He said: “They keep chiselling for more concessions that dilute what appears to be a very generous offer for them. The point comes when you have to say enough is enough.”

A deal has to get through Parliament. If the EU keep asking for concessions (their strategy) it won’t pass the HoC.

Actually much as I don’t want No Deal I think after a GE which I think Boris/Farage will win by a landslide, I think this will be Boris’ plan.

You’re probably right GGmk3 - appearances CAN be deceiving! That said, it does ‘seem’ to be the closest we’ve been to a finale in months.

I’m fed up of it all - the posturing, the brinkmanship - I just want something to happen now.
