Boris getting tough with EU

It sounds like the gloves are off. Merkyl has now told Boris EU will never agree deal unless NI is fully within CU. Boris reply is Conservative manifesto will state we leave with no deal as new policy if EU fail to agree to his deal. He will also offer 'front of the queue deal' to any country vetoing UK Brexit delay but countries approving one will 'go to the back of the queue'. He will also refuse to negotiate any further with EU after Oct 31st. He may refuse to share our security with EU and appoint Nigel Farage as UK commissioner to EU. The great pity is our own parliament sabotaged Boris doing deal with EU by forcing him to ask for yet another useless extension on Oct 19th, costing £1 billion gross every month, so now EU think they don't need to negotiate with Boris just sit tight. Now we will most likely end up leaving with no deal.

Imagine going into a car showroom for example and the car salesman knows you will HAVE to leave with a deal on a new car. He’s not going to come up with his best offer is he as he doesn’t have to - you WILL be leaving with a car

Or more realistically, the reality of Brexit which is - you are persuaded that your existing car is costing you too much money and the sales rep can give you a much better car - but you don't know what make or model it is, you don't know if the boot is big enough, or if it's manual or automatic, or how much it's going to cost you each month, or if you like the colour, or if your family will fit in it and so on and on. No-one in their right mind would sign on the dotted line without knowing what they were signing up to.

I agree, Varian. Or you go to the showroom just down the road instead, as there are plenty of them to choose from.

Seems like a crazy analogy to me!

MamaCaz Wed 09-Oct-19 12:55:13

Even better, SirChenjin. Well put.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 13:05:12

Nope.

Brexit = buying a new car. From the car showroom you walk into (aka the EU). You want a deal.

The salesman wants to give you a deal. Then someone locks the door! You CANNOT leave without ‘a deal’ (say the Remainer MP’s).

You can’t just go ‘to another car showroom’.

So you’re stuck. You try getting a good deal under these circumstances - it’s crazy!

This is much nicer

Whitewavemark2 Wed 09-Oct-19 13:12:19

Court ruling.

Johnson is having his feet held to the fire.

If he hasn’t signed by the 21st then he will have demonstrably acted illegally, and the court will intervene.

link, please (wow)

SirChenjin Wed 09-Oct-19 13:28:34

No Urm - my anaology is better, because it's exactly what you and other Leavers did 3 years ago when you put your cross on the ballot slip.

growstuff Wed 09-Oct-19 13:39:49

Wish there were a "like" button SirChenjin because that's exactly what most who voted to leave did.

growstuff Wed 09-Oct-19 13:40:20

And then washed their hands of clearing up the mess.

jura2 Wed 09-Oct-19 13:48:47

and say it is unfair that we will expect them to carry the burden of consequences. Because, NO, we are not in this together- at all.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 13:53:13

You and I don’t seem to share an opinion on what ‘nice’ is WWmk2

Just as bad as the first poster really.

Polar views from het up and nasty people.

jura2 Wed 09-Oct-19 14:12:47

well, perhaps the word 'nice' was not the best word to use. I call it realistic. And no, it is not as bad, at all - because we all know Wwm2 would have never ever have even thought of it- let alone published it.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 15:02:31

Well she did - on here!!

jura2 Wed 09-Oct-19 15:20:45

as a reaction to the awful, appalling, dreadful one by Leave UK.

mcem Wed 09-Oct-19 15:28:37

Oooh! Just read a tweet pointing out that retailers are reminding us that there are no vast stocks of loo roll!
Hurrah! We can return to the much-vaunted 'good old days' of tearing up newspapers into squares. (That's about all some msm are good for!)

Whitewavemark2 Wed 09-Oct-19 15:35:49

Yes loo rolls are one (amongst many) things that arrive on a daily basis. No stocks are held.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 09-Oct-19 15:37:03

ug if you think that the second poster is as bad as the first then you need to give your head a wobble.

pinkquartz Wed 09-Oct-19 15:41:32

I could not help that thought though.......how come Germany is getting to tell us and Europe what will be ?

Sad to think this way but really is right for Germany to be in charge?

pinkquartz Wed 09-Oct-19 15:42:54

Oh dear I got it wrong......
this one is re Boris and I agree.
I hate both of them!!

and why is he in charge.
we didn't vote for him

pinkquartz Wed 09-Oct-19 15:48:42

I don't know anymore what I even want to happen.

such a mess......I have been back and forwards changing my mind the entire time.
I disliked the EU but hate the Govt we have.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 16:02:49

Michel Barnier just now:

“If there is goodwill on both sides, I think an agreement is still possible.“

Chestnut Wed 09-Oct-19 16:08:42

Latest polls show Boris has most of the country behind him. People are sick to death of the uncertainty and want it over with by 31st October so we can move on. However, he is stuck between a rock and a hard place with remoaners snapping at his heels on one side (to extend or cancel Brexit) and the Brexit Party on the other side (no deal is better than a bad deal). If we don't leave on 31st October the Brexit Party will step up and who knows what will happen then.

jura2 Wed 09-Oct-19 16:11:41

Even his own Conservatives MPs are against his No Deal plan - could you do the maths please. 21 + 50 = what kind of majority in HoC?

From Guardian today: 'Tory MPs react with fury to talk of no-deal Brexit manifesto promise.

More than 50 MPs could refuse to stand at election if no-deal pledge is in manifesto'

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 16:15:54

It’s making me dizzy trying to keep up with all the twists and turns! It changes by the day.
