Boris getting tough with EU

It sounds like the gloves are off. Merkyl has now told Boris EU will never agree deal unless NI is fully within CU. Boris reply is Conservative manifesto will state we leave with no deal as new policy if EU fail to agree to his deal. He will also offer 'front of the queue deal' to any country vetoing UK Brexit delay but countries approving one will 'go to the back of the queue'. He will also refuse to negotiate any further with EU after Oct 31st. He may refuse to share our security with EU and appoint Nigel Farage as UK commissioner to EU. The great pity is our own parliament sabotaged Boris doing deal with EU by forcing him to ask for yet another useless extension on Oct 19th, costing £1 billion gross every month, so now EU think they don't need to negotiate with Boris just sit tight. Now we will most likely end up leaving with no deal.

What wrath, punishment and ostracism jabberwock?

GracesGranMK3 Wed 09-Oct-19 10:44:44

I wonder if the polls would be different if somebody like Starmer were Labour leader.
I personally don't think the problem is the leader of the LP. There is obviously a reasonable percentage that wants the party this leader is giving them.

I don't know anything really about Starmer's political views except that he is fighting to stay in the EU. I believe he is an honest man who is judicious in his speech.

As I have said before, I don't the LP is missing a leader I think the country is missing a party (and PR).

Wasn't it the EU who suggested that the UK deserved to be punished to daring to try to leave? A special place in hell was waiting for brexiteers?! Surely if a Treaty contains a 'get out clause', the signatories to that Treaty must expect that maybe one day someone (country) may decide to use it, and not be too surprised, or in this case, angry if and when they do?!

On 12th Nov 2014. Juncker stated, "When it becomes serious, you have to lie".

Google it if you don’t believe me.

Old dog, same old tricks.

It would never happen. Commissioners have to be approved by the parliament. Those pesky democratic representatives have already blocked two nominations for the new Commission.

Dinahmo Wed 09-Oct-19 11:28:24

BBC Breakfast this morning - breaking news. Parliament is to meet on Saturday 19th October to discuss Johnson's deal. If that is rejected they will then have another vote to include whether to leave with no deal or to cancel Brexit. This apparently was from Laura Kuenessberg. A little glimmer of hope?

GracesGranMK3 Wed 09-Oct-19 11:30:07

Yes Petra. Thank heavens for our democracy and our representatives in parliament. Without the the strength they have shown half the country could have gone completely unrepresented as far as many are on here and in the Brexit cohort generally are concerned.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 11:35:56

The goverment have called Parliament in on Saturday 19th. Maybe Boris wants the MP’s to watch him sign the Surrender bill in person.

Outside it’s the big protest rally by Remainers ...

Should be an interesting day.

GracesgranMK3
It wasn't me who posted at 11.25.48.
The poster is Petera

GracesGranMK3 Wed 09-Oct-19 11:44:03

It's because there is government business UG. That is the day the Prime Minister must have complied with the 'Benn' Act. The court is holding over until 21st to see that it does happen.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 09-Oct-19 11:44:45

Oops. Sorry Petra.

MaizieD Wed 09-Oct-19 11:48:31

Still no Leaver's comments on that disgusting poster?

SirChenjin Wed 09-Oct-19 11:55:23

It's the Benn Act Urm - stop with the silly surrender hyperbole, it's important to be factually correct if you want people to take your arguments seriously.

lemongrove Wed 09-Oct-19 11:59:34

Yes MaizieD have just seen it.....it’s a disgusting poster.

lemongrove Wed 09-Oct-19 12:00:31

Petra I can forsee many name mix ups!

jura2 Wed 09-Oct-19 12:10:05

Mrs Merkel has seen it- all the Germans have seen it- all the EU have seen it, all the world has seen it.

gagsville Wed 09-Oct-19 12:12:42

Whilst we are all busy 'Boris' bashing, I would like to hear who people think could genuinely get us out of this mess. Jeremy Corbyn. really? Parliament as a whole are a bloody disgrace and this country should be ashamed of voting any of them in. I voted leave; if there were to be another referendum (making a total mockery of our democratic system), I honestly wouldn't know how to vote.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 12:12:58

I certainly don’t agree with that poster either MaizieD as actually I like Angela Merkel. I think she is good at finding a compromise if she can. I think she seems a compassionate person.

jura2 Wed 09-Oct-19 12:14:02

... and we know what they think of it. They see it as coming from us, the British people- and it really, truly, does not help. And there you go again, calling it the 'surrender' bill- with all the overtones it implies.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Oct-19 12:21:40

Well I happen to agree with Boris on that jura it IS a Surrender Bill. It ties our hands big style. Who on earth negotiates anything without being able to walk away if the other side are being difficult? Imagine going into a car showroom for example and the car salesman knows you will HAVE to leave with a deal on a new car. He’s not going to come up with his best offer is he as he doesn’t have to - you WILL be leaving with a car!

gagsville Wed 09-Oct-19 12:25:19

And yes MaizeD it is an awful poster. The person who designed this needs to stop and think about the troops on both sides who showed each other compassion when coming upon an injured person whatever their nationality. This sort of s**t does not put the leave voters in a very good light (including myself). Whatever happened to decency and kindness?

gillybob Wed 09-Oct-19 12:25:47

Imagine going into a car showroom for example and the car salesman knows you will HAVE to leave with a deal on a new car. He’s not going to come up with his best offer is he as he doesn’t have to - you WILL be leaving with a car!

Excellent analogy Urmstongran I think I will use it and pretend I thought of it wink .

newnanny Wed 09-Oct-19 12:30:02

I clearly recall Tusk stating the UK had 'shot itself in the foot by voting to leave and it was the job of EU to shoot it in the other foot'.

I also recall the comment Jabberwock about the special place in hell for Brexiteers and other generic comments made by Macron about the EU must make sure the UK is punished for daring to leave the EU. That we must be given such a bad deal no other country would ever want to leave; hence May's deal.

newnanny Wed 09-Oct-19 12:43:34

That is exactly how it is Urmstongran. I just wish the Parliamentary Remainers' could see it. It is as if they have been radicalised by EU.

varian Wed 09-Oct-19 12:47:53

If you drive to a car showroom, park outside, go in and discuss buying a new one, then if you don't get a good deal, you walk away and drive home in your old car. You have not lost anything. If we leave the EU we will lose big time. That is the true analogy.
