Today Nissan have announced the complete end of the nightshift at their car plant in Sunderland . Speaks volumes.
The announcement said there will be no job losses (yet?)

Sunderland based travel company Hays Travel announced that they were to take over ALL of the Thomas Cook travel shops securing over 2000 jobs countrywide. How this will work long term I have no idea as Hays themselves have their own shops close to old Thomas Cook shops. They won't need both on the same high street .

Oh Lord, I am so sorry. My spelling is absolutely atrocious just now. Well, not spelling, just trigger thumb!

So sad.

I live and work in Washington. I worry for the families around us being a nursery nurse we receive families from the Nissan families. It will be a knock on effect for us all. The north east is a forgotten area.

Why oh why did the folk in Sunderland vote for brexit?

Surely their sense should have told them what would happen?

What a con brexit is.

God only knows....

There were warnings from Nissan in 2016 but quite a lot of folk in Sunderland chose to ignore them.

The North East has always been a forgotten area, full of lovely people - and I was born in the south.

At the time of the referendum there were several strange results in elections - like Trump winning (!), and odd things in France and other countries. I wonder if they were all due to dissatisfaction with the status quo rather than a desire for the thing being voted for.
