I love Jerusalem. We had it at my much loved Mother's funeral last year.

normally, I'd say yes, and yet - look at the change between today and yesterday- yesterday she was bent and hesitant, looking in pain, face broken, voice broken. Today she was straight, relaxed, face opened and smiling - a different person for 2 very different occasions. Clear.

Sadly you must feel a very underwhelming person Gonegirl if you thought I was trying to be clever. You, on the other hand, do not have to make any effort, it seems, to be rude.

Isn't the Queen's Speech always a sombre affair? I thought she sounded/looked much the same as she has done on previous occasions. She's not going to be beaming and smiling.

Not sombre, but very official and 'sober' - but there was no need for that bent over body posture and 'sombre' look.

The Tory party has sent out to its branches election propaganda leaflets assuming the election will happen after October 31st when we are still in the EU.

To all the people complaining about the cost of all the ceremonial, do you think it would be any different if we were a republic? Do you really think that President Johnson or Corbyn wouldnt jump at the chance of ermine and glitter and a procession through the streets?

The Queen was ‘bent over’ yesterday? The woman is 93, maybe she has a bad back, osteoporosis, dowager’s hump, whatever.
I am nowhere near 93, but often catch myself looking ‘bent over’ if I glance in a shop window or mirror.
Goodness knows what I ‘ll be like when I’m her age, if I make it that far, but if I look half as good I’ll be happy.

I bet those ceremonial robes are heavy too. She's bound to look more bent over than she does in a normal loose fitting coat.

I was amazed she was able to walk up the few steps to the throne without holding on to Charles.

Calendar Girl - she was bent over on Speech Day, nice and straight the next day at Westminster- is the point - totally different posture and body language for 2 separate occasions.

Maybe it was the weight of the robes, she didn't feel well, something outside our knowledge ( where is Phillip these days?)

Nobody knows. But I do feel I am entitled to make an observation, share a thought without such rudeness coming my way.

Ceremonial robes are extremely heavy and although the "Diadem" is not as heavy as "The Crown" it will still weigh more than a hat. She was in a reading position, I suggest you look at your profile when reading or on electronic gadgets.

The following day she was in her everyday wear, less weight, knee length dress and jacket, much more comfortable and easy to move in.

Queen Elizabeth II is 93, doing remarkably well.

I don't think it's a joke against the queen at all. More against parliament perhaps.

You do know that old saying ?"he who pays the piper calls the tune"Well as long as Lizzie has her hand out for cash from goverment of any hue she has to do what they say .

Of course it's not a joke against the Queen: the cartoonist is in sympathy with her because of the way she has been manipulated by Boris Johnson. Why do some Gransnetters have to score off by suggesting people don't get the joke. People who put others down generally do it because they have a superiority complex. You should never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up Gonegirl.

There are several ways you could read that carton. I still like the idea that the Queen has requested the horse muck to be collected for her roses. Or, your interpretation could be correct.

I suppose it was the It's time we went Republic and had a true democracy instead of this farce with hypocritical kowtowing to an unelected bunch of royal millionaire that gave me the idea you are not a fan of the Queen.
