Privatisation of utility’s (lots of people have their pension funds invested in these)

Inheritance tax and gifts to children.

Increase in personal taxes

All the above (and many others) were mentioned in their “think tank paper” and have been widely publicised.

Funny to some, but we have worked hard for what we have and are not overly keen on giving it away, and we already pay enough tax thank you.

I happen to think utilities-power and water are something which should be available at a reasonable price to everyone in a civilised society and run on a not-for profit basis. If your pension fund is in them lobby to get it moved.
There already is inheritance tax and gifts to children are taxed if made just before death. The increase in personal taxes is for those earning huge amounts.
You may think you pay enough taxes but most people wouldn't mind paying a little more to see a better NHS. Nobody is asking you to give anything away. Simply that the weakest in society should be properly supported.

Trisher I have no problem with the policies particularly, but have a great deal of an issue with Corbyn and the cabal that surrounds him. The man as a backbencher was the most treacherous member of the parliamentary party and is a guarantee of the dangerous narcissistic Johnson continuing to lead a vicious Tory government for the next 7 years.

The problem is that that clique and their followers are willing to sacrifice the weakest in society on the alter of imagined purity of socialism when it it is the alter of popularism.

But hey why should I worry, I'm not that vunerable, just like Corbyn, but I do worry. I've seen it all before when similarly misguided idiots let Thatcher wreak havoc for 3 terms.

Trisher I am sure you must have read that Corbyn wants to allow a lifetime gift cap that parents can only gift £125k to each child that is so much lower than the current inheritance tax.

Other ill thought out ideas JC and McD have been discussing is only working a 4 day week but getting paid for 5 days. Just think if doctors and nurses stayed at home 1 day each week what would that do for patients needing treatment?

I can not see how JC could be trusted with national security when he has tea with the IRA and supports Hamass and most other terrorist.

Why do you say most people would not mind paying more tax? How do you know what 'most people' would mind paying? People who earn more money already pay more tax. Why should they pay even more?

I have noticed the more wacky his policies the less support he attracts.

My FiL who has voted Labour all of his life has now said even he can't vote for JC again. I never ever thought that would happen as he is red through and through. It seems interfering in football is just a step too far even for him.

Corbyn is the best advert the Labour Party have to ensure more people vote for other parties. Long may he remain!

That is me. I am one of the lucky ones. I am not so selfish as not to realise that, and wish to help others in worse circumstances. Only Labour's policies will do that. Even if it makes me a bit worse off in the process, it is the right thing to do.

According to fullfact.org the top 1% of "earners" pay about 28% of all income tax collected.

Households earning toe top 10% of incomes pay about 27% in total of most direct and indirect taxes, according to Office of National Statistics. This figure has remained roughly constant since 2009/10.

The law according to GN seems to be one of envy if anyone dares to admit they are "comfortable" and the biggest sin of all is to admit to voting Conservative.

Of course it's a sin to vote Conservative GG13. It has resulted in more in-work poverty, more homeless families, less money for schools, less money for the NHS, less numbers of police. If you don't have a social conscience I suppose it's OK. And actually I have more respect for people like JRM who really believe in a small state and let the weakest go to the wall, than I do for hypocritical posters on GN who pretend that they really care but prove repeatedly that they don't.

trisher Just because I have always voted Conservative does not mean that I do not care. Unfortunately I do not have faith or believe anything that comes out of the Labour Party, and I could never vote Lib Dems (not liberal or democratic)

I am not a Boris Johnson fan, but I have an extremely good constituency MP, who works relentlessly for the local area and its people. Which is why whilst she is standing for reelection I will always vote for her.

I think the reason Labour are not popular is JC takes too much notice of crackpot ideas like this. It is human nature to want to leave what you have already paid tax on to your children when you die. I don't agree with inheritance tax of any nature because of this. How anyone would know how much you had given to your children including allowing them to live with you without contributing really could not even be measured. Madness indeed.

Then take some responsibility for the results of your vote GG13 and for foodbanks,lack of social housing, the struggling NHS and schools where even headteachers have spoken out. By all means vote Conservative but don't pretend you care about others or our society.

When I give to charity I like to choose where the money goes. When government taxes us we get no choice.

So you think that people should depend on charity newnanny. Well how Victorian can you get?

I do care about society, have been involved at a national level with a national charity. Make time for fundraisers, support two local charities.

Not "most posters" lemon just a few prolific ones. Those of us who have actually looked at the policies and believe in a better society where the poorest and weakest are protected and people are cared for just don't post that often. Perhaps because we know that we will be immediately dismissed as Corbynistas and there is no point in trying to change reactionary old GNers.

GG13 I refer you to my earlier post about charity. It has its place but is no substitute for a real support system (the Victorians thought it was)

trisher. As this is an anonymous forum, I shall be careful what I say. There is definitely a support system out there, it is unfortunately open to abuse, and I know that to be a fact.

I totally agree that when it goes wrong and people fall through the safety net it is appalling .

However, I have not seen or heard anything from the other parties that gives me any faith that they would do any better.

trisher I do not think people should rely on charity. They should be either working if at all able or retired and on pension or disabled and on benefits. I am perfectly happy to pay tax on income earned but do not agree with inheritance tax, because tax has already been paid on this at source of income.

trisher did you know that Sajid Javid is planning to raise the minimum wage to £10.50 by 2014 which is higher than JC wants for workers.

I do give to charity but as i say I like to choose which ones I give to and that is Cancer Research, charities like McMillan, Help for Heroes and Operation Christmas Child are my favourites.

Actually GrannyGravy13, I think the biggest sin on GN is to like Boris. I am a Boris fan and I will be voting for him and so will my dh and 2 ds's, so 4 votes there for Boris. We like a party to stick to their manifesto promises.

I know a close member of BJ's family, if he pulls off "Brexit" and gets elected at the next GE, he will get my endorsement.

Of course it's not quite as simple as Conservatives are the bad guys and Labour are all kind and caring.

Surely though, even the most ardent Conservative can see that the gap between rich and poor is bigger than ever. This is not some fanciful notion but is backed up by research from reputable bodies such as the Rowntree Foundation.

People can't just get on a bike and find a job.

The old school almost gentlemanly style of Conservative politics has been replaced by something very unpleasant indeed.
Is it OK to step over people on your way to the theatre? Of course not.

There were people sitting in the street under the last Labour government ( and they gave away money with wild abandon).
The population has exploded since then.
Employment figures at the moment are high.
Of course it isn’t Labour guys all good and caring and Conservatives the opposite, but many people only cope with things in either black or white unfortunately.
