I would just like one thread for brexiters only please.

I voted leave. I would vote leave again and again and again. There has been nothing to change my mind. I have been hardened by the views of remainers.

I would really like to talk to other brexit minded posters.
Thanks.

MaizieD Surely they should be reported as they are all part of the “wonderful EU”.

Eloethan Mon 28-Oct-19 10:25:38

So, Morrissey says "Fuck the Guardian" and says the decision to leave the EU is "magnificent".

If I were a leaver, I wouldn't be too keen to advertise the views of this man who has taken exception to the Guardian reporting some of his comments. He has often said his remarks (eg describing Chinese people as a "sub-species") have been twisted or taken out of context. However there's no denying this statement he made:

“There is only one British political party [For Britain] that can safeguard our security.”

The party’s leader, Anne Marie Waters thanked Morrissey for his support.

Re For Britain, from Wikipaedia:

"The party received the support of Tommy Robinson, the former leader of the English Defence League. Its platform includes reducing Muslim immigration to the UK to near zero, and to "bring the entire EU project down".

"Sean O'Driscoll, writing in The Times described the proposed party as intending to fill the space left by the demise of the British National Party (BNP).

"The party fielded fifteen candidates in the 2018 local elections, none being elected. The party expelled two of its local election candidates after Hope Not Hate linked one of them to the proscribed neo-Nazi group National Action and the white nationalist group Generation Identity and showed another as having posted racist and antisemitic content on social media.

"In September 2018, the media personality Katie Hopkins and writer spoke at For Britain's conference."

Urmstongran Somewhere you can call people names and peddle myths?

MaizieD Mon 28-Oct-19 10:13:08

Of course the MSM does not report this, as it goes against the EU agenda of all is wonderful.

Unless you can show, GG13, that the problems in France, Sweden and, although it doesn't feature on your list, Spain, are directly linked by the protagonists to EU membership I really can't see why you should cite them. These are internal matters in sovereign countries and for the respective countries to sort out themselves.

I seem to recall that for the first 30 years of the UK's membership of the EU we had an appalling civil war in Northern Ireland* which frequently and nastily touched the mainland of Great Britain. I don't recall anyone citing this as a 'problem with the EU'. They didn't because the Troubles weren't anything to do with the EU.

And unless you can conclusively prove otherwise, neither do the problems in those member states. As far as I can see they would be happening whether they were in or out of the EU.

*I seem to recall that we had some 'problems' with the Welsh Nationalists, too. Also unconnected with our EU membership.

P.S our MSM reports very little of what is going on in the rest of the world...

Greta Mon 28-Oct-19 10:09:02

GrannyGravy13, you are right, there were explosions in Stockholm last week. Perhaps the reason why they were not given space in the media is that they were 'low key', quickly dealt with and nobody was injured.

The question I asked was why do we prefer to compare ourselves with southern European countries instead of northern ones. I was not referring to violent attacks. There have been many terrorist attacks all over Europe and we are all vulnerable. We need to join forces, work together and show solidarity.

Urmstongran Mon 28-Oct-19 09:37:25

I think it’s enormously generous of the EU to agree to this 3 January flextension.

They want a deal too. I hope we all get one and soon.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 28-Oct-19 09:11:46

Grandad1943 I have Swedish relatives, the only UK "presenter" to mention this is Andrew Neil, I suggest you look up his twitterfeed. Or just google explosions in Stockholm/Sweden.

Urmstongran Mon 28-Oct-19 09:09:03

I think Grandad1943 that us Leavers who post on here are just enjoying a like minded bubble of consent. Nothing wrong with that - it’s only one Brexit thread.

I’m just surprised how many Remainers want to join in!

Urmstongran Mon 28-Oct-19 09:05:55

Power struggle In the PV movement. Farcical really how the opposition can’t get their act together (over anything really).

Grandad1943 Mon 28-Oct-19 09:01:54

GrannyGravy13, in regard to your post @08:52 today could you please provide links to what you state as I have seen no reports of bombs in Sweden.

I am aware that you stated it was not reported in the mass media, but you must have obtained your information from somewhere, therefore could you please share?

Grandad1943 Mon 28-Oct-19 08:56:40

Oviously this thread was set up for levers as they have no explanations of how withdrawal from the European Union will benefit Brtain.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 28-Oct-19 08:52:09

Greta we could compare the UK to Sweden, where in the last 8 days there's have been 4 bombs go off in Stockholm (over a hundred in the last 12 months all over Sweden) or France which is into the 53rd weeks of riots in Paris and other cities.

Of course the MSM does not report this, as it goes against the EU agenda of all is wonderful.

(All the above verifiable on the line)

Urmstongran Mon 28-Oct-19 08:46:14

No explanations are needed on this thread.
Oh joy!
?

Greta Mon 28-Oct-19 08:30:10

Peonyrose: Grow stuff, what country in Europ would you rather be, Greece, Italy, Spain the list goes on.

I've always found it interesting that when Leave voters compare the UK with other European countries they choose Greece, Italy, Spain. Why not compare ourselves with more northern countries, we are after all a northern European country?

It makes you wonder what would or could happen if they got control, there is no room in their agenda for anything other than getting what they want fair or foul.

Are you describing our own government here?

Opal commenting on how we were known as the poor man of Europe.
Really? Where is your proof of this?

Plenty of so called proof, Opal. I arrived in the UK in 1971 and felt as if I was stepping back in time. I have written about this some time ago on another thread but when I mentioned all the things that to me seemed very old-fashioned and 'poor' leave posters did not want to hear.

Free movement of labour - the very thing that we DON'T WANT. We need immigration, yes, but it MUST be controlled and it must be to provide the skills we need.

So why did we choose not to control immigration?

Pantglas2 Mon 28-Oct-19 08:19:13

Oh how I wish I was as biased as all you right/left wingers! To have that certainty in my genes that I was always right, without questioning anything I read, always refusing to acknowledge anything that didn’t agree with my core beliefs. It’s like a religion and I feel left out!

crystaltipps Mon 28-Oct-19 07:58:24

I’m not sure how Morrisey wearing an anti Guardian t shirt in the USA is relevant. Explain. If it was Stephen Fry writing an anti government article ( which he just has) he would be dismissed as a “luvvie”.

Urmstongran Mon 28-Oct-19 07:52:30

In the Graun this morning:

‘Morrissey has performed in Los Angeles on Saturday wearing a vest with the slogan “Fuck the Guardian”.

The former Smiths frontman wore the top during a concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, weeks after he described this newspaper as “the voice of all that is wrong and sad about modern Britain”.

The 60-year-old singer, who has repeatedly expressed support for the far-right party For Britain, has increasingly been lashing out at the Guardian in recent months.’

growstuff Mon 28-Oct-19 07:29:43

That's no way to talk about your PM, his puppetmaster and their acolytes! Show some respect! hmm

Grandad1943 Mon 28-Oct-19 07:28:57

Urmstongran Quote [ Morning Brexiters I wonder what fresh hell awaits in the HoC today from the plotters and thwarters?] End Quote.

Urmstongran, do you mean those who wish to ensure that Britains NHS is not put up for sale.

Do you mean those who wish to see employee rights protected?

Do you mean those who wish to see Britains manufacturing and Finance industries remain in the UK?

Do you mean those who wish to see workplace safety maintained at the high level it serves now for workers?

Do you mean those who wish to see the Union maintained as now with Northern Ireland on the same status as the rest of the UK?

Do you mean those who wish to see Britains security remains in strong working cooperation with other European nations to the benefit of all?

If so Urmstongran I am sure those plotters and thwarters will be doing all they can to ensure they gain their goals in the House of Commons.

For Peonyrose flowers grin

crystaltipps Mon 28-Oct-19 06:29:49

Yes I would see the EU as protection from useless /extreme U.K. governments whose answer to a financial crisis is to close libraries , cut police an other public services, rather than tax their cronies.

Peonyrose Mon 28-Oct-19 06:04:27

Opal, spot on. Unfortunately this thread has been hijacked by very unpleasant people, it's frightening. Grow stuff, what country in Europ would you rather be, Greece, Italy, Spain the list goes on. They are in severe financial trouble. Before you post you should check your facts.
I am afraid Brexiteers, on these threads there is no question of not being hijacked by such people. It makes you wonder what would or could happen if they got control, there is no room in their agenda for anything other than getting what they want fair or foul. I know a lot of remainers who are decent and law abiding, accepted the referendum and want to move on, they are as exasperated as we are, they can't all be tarred with the same brush.

growstuff Mon 28-Oct-19 04:42:47

Joelsnan I don't think I've ever witnessed a heated argument when anybody has threatened to murder somebody.

Even if I have and it's normal, do you think it's normal for people to set up a crowdfunding page to kill Gina Millar? This is what happened.
