What would you do? (Trust dilemma)

I’m sorry, but I’m not sure which forum to post my dilemma on, so I hope it’s ok here.

The thing is, I have got someone lined up to do a job for me in the house, well actually it’s to install a new central heating system and boiler.

He seems like a really nice guy, ever-so posh and a really good laugh. He has promised me that he will get the job done quickly and has given me a really good quote for the job.

The thing is, I’ve asked around and found that he has never actually completed any job to anyone’s satisfaction, has told one lie after another and is a bit of a ladies’ man (although this last doesn’t bother me). He is apparently being investigated for fraud in one job he did. I even asked his sister what she thought and she said she wouldn’t trust him.

He has promised me that he will get the job done by 31st October or he'll die trying, but to be honest some of the things he is planning to do to cut corners seem a little bit left of the law to me. I am also a bit concerned that he has not actually signed the quote he has given me.

I would really value everyone’s opinion – do you think I should trust him and let him into my house?

Very funny!

GabriellaG54, I sympathise completely. My credulity, too, has been sorely taxed as I see Johnson's popularity rise with every revelation concerning his dubious past dealings that emerges.

It may not be your cup of tea, but some people have enjoyed following this thread and have found it a bit of light relief. smile

It was a clever play on words and a welcome change from the 'seriousness' of the RL scenario.
I don't hang my hat on BJ but if he gets us out then he'll become Boy Wonder for leavers, bluster or no, dalliances, lies, whatever.
All will be forgiven by leavers if he comes up with the goods.

Does anyone know - Is there any truth in the rumour that pet shops are doing a booming trade at the moment in the sale of lemmings?

MawB Wed 23-Oct-19 23:36:47

? ? ? moment GabriellaG?
Not like you to be so slow on the uptake gringrin

MawB Wed 23-Oct-19 23:38:17

No Amagran they are in short supply as many have already headed to the cliffs ready for 31 October

Amagran Wed 23-Oct-19 23:45:55

I have heard that the lemming costume is selling out quickly for Halloween ? ?‍♀️

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 09:57:51

Gratifying to know that so many people need a dressing-up costume, SirChenjin! thlwink thlgrin

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 10:31:57

Amagran there is something very ironic in the fact that the mass suicidal behaviour of lemmings is one of the best examples of fake news going in the natural world.

Nonnie Thu 24-Oct-19 10:54:47

Oh I do wish I could find something as witty to say as you guys!

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 11:14:56

Nonnie, I think you just have! smile

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 11:18:46

Quite so, suziewoozie, - I can't stop smiling at the irony. grin

Nonnie Thu 24-Oct-19 11:22:13

If my son wasn't so busy I would ask for his help, he would be brilliant at this. Keep it up please all, I need some laughs today.

Labaik Thu 24-Oct-19 11:36:01

I know someone that's dressing as a chlorinated chicken for Halloween....

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 11:41:19

I think this thread's a bit mean. Clever, but mean.

Why do it?

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 11:47:32

To warn others of the dangers of falling for lies peddled by posho boiler salesmen of course.

Nonnie Thu 24-Oct-19 12:01:12

Nothing original I'm afraid but apparently this is the party going on in EU right now.

It was very amusing not mean at all - some people have no sense of humour at all. Honestly ?

No. I have no sense of humour whatsoever.

grapefruitpip Thu 24-Oct-19 13:35:24

You bloody need one to survive on GN , that and rhino hide.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 13:39:25

GG if you haven’t got a sense humour then you can’t really comment on whether something is funny or not can you?

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 13:39:55

It’s like commenting on a smell when you have lost your sense of smell
