What would you do? (Trust dilemma)

I’m sorry, but I’m not sure which forum to post my dilemma on, so I hope it’s ok here.

The thing is, I have got someone lined up to do a job for me in the house, well actually it’s to install a new central heating system and boiler.

He seems like a really nice guy, ever-so posh and a really good laugh. He has promised me that he will get the job done quickly and has given me a really good quote for the job.

The thing is, I’ve asked around and found that he has never actually completed any job to anyone’s satisfaction, has told one lie after another and is a bit of a ladies’ man (although this last doesn’t bother me). He is apparently being investigated for fraud in one job he did. I even asked his sister what she thought and she said she wouldn’t trust him.

He has promised me that he will get the job done by 31st October or he'll die trying, but to be honest some of the things he is planning to do to cut corners seem a little bit left of the law to me. I am also a bit concerned that he has not actually signed the quote he has given me.

I would really value everyone’s opinion – do you think I should trust him and let him into my house?

OK Effing sooziewoozie!

I have got a sense of humour. Just not on this level.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 14:08:56

You on the other hand, sound a right bundle of laughs. Not.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 14:25:21

GG so charming.

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 15:27:09

Gonegirl Please see my post of Tues 22nd Oct. 23:58:19. Who do you believe I have been mean to? If any Gnetter believes I have been mean to them on this thread, I will apologise.

I did not intend this thread to be mean to anyone, certainly not Gnetters.

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 15:34:27

You weren’t being mean and no-one apart from GG has complained (which is hardly unusual). It was a very funny thread which provided a much needed break from the many more serious Brexit threads. Always better to laugh - otherwise you’d cry smile

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 15:34:50

But you did trick well-meaning Gransnetters into giving you advice.

I just don't like it.

And it sounds like one of those silly things that go round on the internet.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 15:44:28

The only mean person on this thread is GG she also called me effing <sob>

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 15:45:38

Gonegirl, did you actually read my post of Tues 22nd Oct. 23:58:19? If you didn't, it is unfair to pass judgment.
No one has complained on or off the thread, so I repeat, who are the victims of this alleged meanness?

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 15:47:32

Yes, I read it.

I've already explained.

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 15:47:54

Oh, and silly it maybe, Gonegirl, that is a matter of personal opinion. But going round the internet: no it is not, not at my hands anyway.

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 15:54:38

It was funny and witty - not silly at all.

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 16:11:16

You don’t have to like everything on Gransnet GG <shrug>

Drum1234 Thu 24-Oct-19 16:16:57

Love this thread! Very clever, and very witty. Made me laugh out loud. Keep it up, ignore the negativity.

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 16:35:11

flowers Gonegirl. No meanness intended, as I said in my Tues post (Not OP).

Amagran Thu 24-Oct-19 16:41:03

As posted on another thread, with speculation as to reason, Laura Kuenssberg is apparently in No 10 conducting a hastily arranged interview with someone about a CH contract.....

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 16:45:22

Don’t bother Amagran it’s not worth it.

Labaik Thu 24-Oct-19 16:52:23

Maybe Gonegirl is just envious that someone can write something so witty and clever #justsaying

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 17:41:09

Watch out for the comment about the # Labaik wink

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 18:05:15

I have already said that it's clever.

The thing is, some GNrs went to the trouble of giving good advice to Amagran having taken the post at face value.

Not envious Labaik. It would never have crossed my mind to write it. Not greatly into the Brexit stuff at the moment.

Probably making too much of this. So will shut up.

Drum1234 Thu 24-Oct-19 18:09:43

Well, if any of those GNers who gave the advice in good faith think this thread is a bit mean, they can say so. I'm willing to bet that once they realised it was a joke, they saw the funny side.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 18:11:07

Ok.

Bridgeit Thu 24-Oct-19 18:29:23

I’m with you GoneGirl, I never did get this sort of humour ? Is it humour ?
(Probably due to being the butt of a teachers so called humour when young )

suziewoozie Thu 24-Oct-19 18:31:41

Yes it’s humour - just because you think it isn’t doesn't mean it it isn’t #wetblsnket

SirChenjin Thu 24-Oct-19 18:38:47

Humour is subjective - if you don’t find it funny that’s absolutely fine, but plenty of us did.

Bridgeit Thu 24-Oct-19 18:47:22

Yes I get that .
