In response to the Leavers having a topic all to them themselves, I am starting one for the Remainers. So feel free to vent your delight in how we are doing. to stop this mess. So Remainers only please others have your own site.

The Independent has reported that tactical voting could cost Johnson 60 seats.

I would imagine that the next election will be all about tactical voting, particularly if Brexit hasn’t yet taken place.

I for one would vote tactically if necessary.

Re Singapore - my understanding is that 80% of the housing is social. I'm sure that the ERG won't want the government to fork out for that.

From the New European

Those who do not want to leave the EU wish Britain to continue moving towards equality of opportunity, protections for people at work including health and safety, statutory maternity leave and paid holidays together with effective action on climate change. It is a progressive mindset with the European social model at its core, which seeks fairness and balance together with international co-operation.

The Leavers have a very different views of the world. Their models are Donald Trump's America and Singapore, as founded by Lee Kuan Yew - small state countries with a supposedly thriving entrepreneurial culture where the winner takes virtually everything. Countries which follow this path are inevitably divided according to income and along racial lines. They do little to protect their populations and spend the bare minimum on health and social welfare.'

I saw Heseltine too. He was, indeed, damning and you wonder just how he feels about his Party or perhaps he realises it a totally different one now.

barmey you have to take the rough with the smooth on here ?. And some are pretty rough.

Hope your eye improves soon, it must be frustrating.

Barmeyoldbat Wed 23-Oct-19 20:53:36

Sorry Dinah... din't read it properly. I am having difficulties even with my glasses on as I have an infection and swollen eye at the moment, even Spec Savers can't help me.

I am so pleased I put this thread on, I have learnt so much and there hasn't been any of the name calling we usually have. Can't say the same for my other thread about my daughter, but there you go.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:32:14

No jura I didn’t see Hesteltine but I keep reading about it, as well as other prominent political leaders.

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 20:28:47

Thanks; I didn't know who was saying it; he did mention having worked for The Mail and The Telegraph I think. My tv in the kitchen isn't working so if I'm flitting in and out of the living room I miss things. What did Peston say? Oops; just read WWM2's post properly now. Shall I go out and come back in again [or perhaps get a good nights sleep and start again tomorrow...] blush [or turn myself off and turn myself back on again...]

jura2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:26:35

Did you hear Heseltine's assessment of his recent behaviour and lies? Damning, 100%.

You’re all thinking:
another extension.

I am thinking:
another three weeks listening to Farage

Whitewavemark2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:23:21

It wouldn’t be so bad if Johnson lied with skill (well it would?) but he lies with such idiocy, they spill out of his mouth just like a 3 -4 year old who thinks you won’t know when he lies.

He surely can’t continue as Tory leader, even they couldn’t tolerate such ridiculous behaviour could they?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:17:10

TBH I don’t suppose it comes as a surprise to any of us.

It is simply welcome for it to be confirmed by someone who knows what he is talking about. He was chief political editor of the Telegraph and now writes for The Mail.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:16:35

Sorry Labaik. I hadn't seen you post. I am always behind because I record stuff. Preston has replied apparently.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:14:28

Just catching up with C4 News and they have picked up on this and are interviewing Peter Osbourne.

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 20:13:34

I'm not very good with twitter; only tend to see twitterings when they make their way onto facebook.

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 20:11:58

This has just been discussed on Ch4 News; both Kuensberg and Peston were mentioned. I need to rewatch it...I'm desperately trying to get my house tidied [yes, the neverending springclean] for the weekend and I'm not paying proper attention to anything. I was showing my ''man who fixes everything for me' some photos today and a 'Remain' one popped up. He is an arch brexiteer and we both grinned and said 'we won't mention that'.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:10:29

I saw Jura. Not her usual comments to make her sources feel good - and that's the issue. They're all climbing up the greasy pole and "sources" matter.

Go choice of sadly true poem WW. I do like Gibran. I have his ' On Children' on my computer screen.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:05:07

This is what comes of journalists repeating stuff without first checking the veracity of it.

Their integrity is at rock bottom at the moment and deservedly so,

Whitewavemark2 Wed 23-Oct-19 20:03:09

Anyone seen the #downingstreetsource on twitter

??

There are some very witty people.

jura2 Wed 23-Oct-19 19:59:34

Laura Kuensberg called Johnson a double liar re his performance in the HoC today - a first I'd say- as she has been so biased so far.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 23-Oct-19 19:57:05

Cummings has definitely overplayed his hand hasn’t he?

Brian Harris
@harrisimo

The longer the #DowningStreetSource hashtag keeps trending the more difficult it becomes for any journalist to use it on here without facing ridicule. Would leave Kuenssberg with almost nothing to post...

You can only "game" things for so long and then life happens and takes you by surprise. So glad to hear Cummings has been put in his place. One of the questions on PMQs was suggesting that Johnson could get rid of one if his short Cummings (it wasn't funny then either). Perhaps his day is over.

I'm glad your lunch went well Jura.

Labaik Wed 23-Oct-19 18:17:00

...maybe Cummings is realising that Johnson no longer needs him now he's got those people to help him get support from people on facebook. As ever Johnson will just cast him aside when he's no longer useful.
