I don't think there has ever been much doubt that the Tories would like to privatise the NHS, whether or not we are a member of the EU. One of their number once called the NHS a 60 year mistake.
What has been more of a surprise, to me at least, is that the Liberal Democrats seem to agree with them.

As a result of an EU procurement directive contracts for NHS and other public services whose value is over a certain amount are obliged to open the bidding to the rest of the EU and countries that have trade deals with EU.
This is why we already have part privatisation of these services with EU companies and indeed the US (who has a trade deal with EU) has resulted in them having some of the largest contracts. These being won because UK companies cannot compete because they offer their staff better salaries and conditions and the level of service provision higher.
Just review staff conditions when a NHS or Council service has been won by an external provider. Just take note of the level of service given.
I know in my area, rubbish collections and control of the places where you can personally take your rubbish are now run by Veiola a Spanish co. The restrictions on who can enter the tipping yard and what can be tipped has been severely restricted because of contract terms, this resulting in mounds of rubbish being fly tipped all over the place.

Oh dear, autocorrected and I didn’t check!

Just seen a headline stating they voted not to save the NHS from privatisation and the LibDems abstained.

So is the NHS safe in their hands? I think not!

Setting us up for takeover from the USA. Shame on them for wanting public services in the hands of profiteers.

It also feeds in to my concerns about care homes for the elderly. Health and Care should NOT be in the hands of money makers.
