To the polls we go then...
It would be really interesting to know your most pressing issues when it comes to voting in December. What do you most want to see addressed in your party's manifesto?

I can't keep to three.
1. Proper funding, management and protection of the NHS. To include a revived Sure Start system and care for the elderly (cradle to grave).
2. Massive investment in an integrated, affordable and nationalised public transport system. Not HS2!
3. The provision of decent, affordable social housing.
4. Support for our overstretched emergency services, including a shake up of the criminal justice system.
5. Better safety nets for those who need it, so that nobody has to rely on food banks or live on the streets.

growstuff I worked in housing for many years and I saw firsthand, particularly in the few years before I retired 7 years ago, that ‘some’ who had just been accepted onto a waiting list were housed as soon as a property became available, when at the top of that same list were others in dire need who would have been waiting in most cases a very long time.

There is only one real issue Brexit most will tactically vote.
All the other promises will be much the same, promise the earth and worry about paying for it later.
Very unpredictable, the question is how many votes will Corbyn loose Labour.

Labaik Wed 30-Oct-19 18:55:26

Wondering who's commissioned this survey?

absthame Wed 30-Oct-19 19:11:28

Tactical vote to stop the Tories, stop Corbyn ensure there is a hung parliament with labour the largest party.

GabriellaG54 Wed 30-Oct-19 19:37:52

Leaving the EU.
UK tightening it's borders 'til the pips squeak.
Harsher prison sentencing and full terms served.
Tightening of prison security including stopping the influx of mobile phones and drugs by using visitor centres with plexiglass windows at visiting times a la USA.
Streamlining the NHS and curbing their wasteful buying habits.

Build social housing (and don't sell it)

Protect our public services (all of them)

Stay in Europe

growstuff Wed 30-Oct-19 20:46:54

As a matter of interest, who were the "some"?

From what I know about social housing in my area, there's a dire shortage, but the allocation seems fair.

absthame Wed 30-Oct-19 21:10:23

* GabriellaG54* I assume that you would also like to see the return of flogging and public beheading angry

GabriellaG54 Wed 30-Oct-19 21:52:11

Very probably. Sounds good to me in many cases.

lemongrove Wed 30-Oct-19 21:52:23

abshame We were asked by LaraGransnet what we would like to see, not to pick holes in others choices or to insult.

3 things
Leave the EU with a deal in place
Sort out care for the elderly
Do much more for those with mental health problems.

Eloethan Wed 30-Oct-19 22:35:52

There are so many things that are messed up that it's difficult to stick to three things. However, my absolute priorities would be:

Stop privatisation of public services and PFIs
Treat housing as a national emergency
Reduce spending on the military

Lilypops Wed 30-Oct-19 22:49:57

Eloethan, Why reduce the military, we need it more than ever with the constant threat of terrorist activity in the world,

Lilypops Wed 30-Oct-19 22:51:07

Sorry meant why reduce military spending,

GracesGranMK3 Wed 30-Oct-19 22:59:12

**Renewal of Social Housing
*Proper funding of NHS and properly structured and paid for Care System
*Genuine living wage
*Genuine living pension
*Equality of spending on transport and infrastructure in all areas of the UK
*Remain in the EU
*Citizens assemblies on contentious issues
* Teaching of our democratic system in all schools
(not necessarily in that order)

harrigran Thu 31-Oct-19 07:29:04

GabriellaG54 said exactly what I was going to say.

I agree with Gabriella that we need better prison security because access to mobile phones coupled with drugs is a major problem in our prisons.
It does not mean a return to public flogging and beheading!

* more police officers over and above getting back to the levels we once had ie more than the promised 20,000
* more prison officers
which should help to start to tackle drug and knife crime

* a real clampdown on social media sites which ignore warnings about targeting young people to self-harm
* increased use of brownfield sites for building homes, both private and social although I notice that this is happening already locally
* the infrastructure to support all this increased housing, starting with roads to direct the traffic away from down centres
* more sensible solutions to pollution in cities - which does not mean banning buses at certain times of the day as surely we need more, not less, public transport at peak times?
*stop HS2 but spend that money on better public transport links countrywide.

Callistemon Thu 31-Oct-19 09:39:04

* as mentioned above, the care system for the elderly needs a thorough overhaul

JenniferEccles Thu 31-Oct-19 09:42:31

My three would be:-

Leave the EU
Invest in the NHS
Tough policy on crime

All of the above would be delivered by the Conservatives

I am convinced they will win with a good majority.
All the other parties are a complete joke aren’t they?

AllTheLs Thu 31-Oct-19 09:42:52

1. Brexit
2. Animals
3. Education

GabriellaG54 Thu 31-Oct-19 09:58:13

JenniferEccles
Yes.

mostlyharmless Thu 31-Oct-19 09:59:28

1. Remain in the EU
2. Protect and invest in the NHS
3. Local authorities to build much more social housing

Calendargirl Thu 31-Oct-19 10:03:49

Where will the money come from for all the extra NHS, social care, police, prisons, social housing et al?

Callistemon Thu 31-Oct-19 10:12:35

If we want better services we have to be prepared to pay for them.
I should have added - make large corporations pay their dues.

But we are only allowed three (my list could be combined into three).

growstuff Thu 31-Oct-19 10:16:34

People in social housing pay rent.
