Just that

Urm not a good start to the day. Who’s going to disagree? I’m not going to plead for balance as you did yesterday. This rollercoaster has 5 weeks to go and all parties will have ups and downs. Calling that out is absolutely fine as long as facts are posted on which opinions are based.

Labour election not going well either, is it?

So far everyone agrees about the appalling start for the Tories. It seems to be about the man with no plan. They seem to be cocking-up just as much as they have cocked up in the last nine years.

I don't agree with you about Labour and we are only just beginning to see where the smaller parties are saying. I will keep my counsel on all but the Tories who are patently weak and waffly at the moment.

I just posted exactly the same words at the same time as you onanother political thread!

I saw that Urm well we are both on the money there and there’s no problem is there in posting the truth about what happens during the ride. I doubt any individual day will be equally bad for all parties but as long as posts are truthful..So far as I’m concerned, I try to be careful about that, particularly when it’s something that I want to be true. It’s easy to triangulated a ‘fact’ before posting.

I have to say reading up further about Alun Cairns has left me a bit ? - there is a deeper issue there about the state of the Welsh Conservatives which anyone who is one should be concerned about. But good news for other parties.

WWM2 - to pick up on your comment about Johnson's launch looking well-supported when the room was almost empty - do you think he's following Trump's approach? Waving, cheering supporters serving as a backdrop!
Didn't work in his favour when be tried that technique at the police college, did it?

Maw I thought that it has been reported that James Cleverley was never booked in to appear on Sky News?
Kay Burleigh could being investigated by Ofcom over the claim.

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 11:49:13

Exactly Callistomen ( that’s on the trending news anyway)
It may have been a mix up about studios as he was supposed to be doing an interview there, but not with Birley.
When there is so much fake news and info being passed around, I do hope, that the truth will come out.

It’s one thing ( and bad enough) when posters on social media leap in with falsehoods, but quite another if radio and tv interviewers are doing it.

SirChenjin Thu 07-Nov-19 11:55:18

And worse still when politicians lie to the whole country and the Queen

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 12:03:34

Am not into comparing lies/ fake news SirC there is too much of it around, and it’s getting worse on social media.

SirChenjin Thu 07-Nov-19 12:14:57

That’s odd - your post seemed to suggest a ranking in that it was bad enough when posters leap in with falsehoods, quite another when interviewers were doing it.

I’m sure no-one would argue that the PM shouldn’t be lying to the country or the queen and I’m happy to rank that as the most serious level of lying.

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 12:20:26

I think it’s clear from my post ( other than pedantry) what I meant.....that it’s even worse when presenters do it, and not what we expect of them.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 07-Nov-19 12:23:53

Am not into comparing lies/ fake news ...

Short-term memory issues? That is exactly what you did and why you got the reply.

SirChenjin Thu 07-Nov-19 12:24:50

And yet you’re still not comparing them?!grin

I’ll say again - the worst set of lies has come from our PM and his acolytes, but I suppose if there’s a culture of lies and deceit coming from the top then there’s a real risk it will permeate down.

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 12:33:55

I expect politicians to lie, but not broadcasters or posters on GN ( although I will expect it now.)

SirChenjin Thu 07-Nov-19 12:46:57

I suppose if you expect your politicians to lie to the extent that Boris et al have been then it’s easy to excuse their behaviour.

Do you expect the PM to lie to the Queen?

suziewoozie Thu 07-Nov-19 13:09:35

The KB case is still full of contradictions. I hope Ofcom do an investigation as hopefully that will establish the facts. I’ll carry on however not believing a word James C says without checking it against various sources. Don’t know anything about KB as I haven’t got Sky.

moggie57 Thu 07-Nov-19 13:11:29

i wouldnt vote for that bunch of clowns .uk/brexit all the way...

jo1book Thu 07-Nov-19 13:42:12

People will vote for Johnson (warts and all) because the prospect of Corbyn is frightening and the LD's look a wet bunch. I was a remainder but will go along with Johnson's deal; we need to move on.

MaizieD Thu 07-Nov-19 13:53:43

There are actually more important things at issue than Brexit, jolbrook. Like punitive 'social welfare', NHS falling apart, cuts to police & education, climate change etc.

Johnson's 'deal' (which is only the Withdrawal Agreement, lots more to come after that) is not a good deal for the UK and, with only 11 months left in which to negotiate an FTA (impossible say the trade experts), the likelihood is that we'll end up with 'no deal' after all. Which will be an economic disaster for the UK or what's left of it).

SirChenjin Thu 07-Nov-19 13:58:32

Agree * Maizie* - be very clear what you’re voting for if you vote for <vague wave of hand> Brexit under a very right wing Govt. What follows will shape so many aspects of our lives - I believe in social justice and don’t trust Boris et al to deliver that.

jo1book Thu 07-Nov-19 14:09:14

Corbyn is the basic problem. If Labour chose to support far left socialism, they will pay a price. I think the best thing for Labour (a party I sympathise with although rarely support) is to lose this election; lose Corbyn and Momentum and regain the respect of more voters.

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 16:33:29
