What a pity that people feel the need to start political campaigning on Gransnet. Nothing wrong with political discussion but this sort of posting is a step too far on this site.

Pantglas Aren't politics based on belief systems? hmm

gangy5 Fri 08-Nov-19 11:47:49

Well GracesGranMK3 your post says it all

GracesGranMK3 Fri 08-Nov-19 10:30:08

The bitchiness and 'I am the only one who is right' attitude is not worth giving time to.

So your answer to the issue you raise gangy5 is to call members, other than yourself of course, bitchy. What a wonderful example of your unconscious sexism to add to your abuse of you fellow members. You also seem to be saying that, in regard to particular threads you believe you are, in fact, considering yourself "the only one who is right", so much so that you think your views deserve a whole thread!

I suggest you look to yourself be for criticising others.

Anniebach Fri 08-Nov-19 10:03:55

When I first joined this forum the political threads were ok, posters who supported different parties, not now

Pantglas2 Fri 08-Nov-19 09:41:26

Unlike you gangy5 I’ve never had much interest in politics but come on these threads to learn more about the differences between each party.

However I struggle with how people end up attacking not just a different viewpoint on one subject but their whole belief system instead of simply, politely stating their case.

I’ve been rubbished by partisans for trying to find the middle ground and seeing the other side of the equation as if that was a bad thing. Very few things in life are black and white and I would hate to be so biased that I couldn’t countenance another sincerely held view.

In the beginning of Gransnet, I used to enjoy posting on here quite a lot. I have a great interest in politics and enjoy discussing things with anyone willing to listen. The bitchiness and 'I am the only one who is right' attitude is not worth giving time to.
I certainly don't have the time to spend on here as many others seem to find and certainly not to discuss politics in a fashion that is rife on here. I am pleased to be the person who points this out and am prepared for all the brickbats coming my way.

And what trisher said

suziewoozie Thu 07-Nov-19 22:43:04

gangy why did you deliberately start a thread you knew would be a bun fight. Bored were you?

trisher Thu 07-Nov-19 22:17:13

I think the appropriate response to the OP is the old one- "If you don't like the heat get out of the kitchen"

GracesGranMK3 Thu 07-Nov-19 21:52:39

Thank you!

janipat Thu 07-Nov-19 17:18:36

GGMK3 the post tooting is referring to is the very next post timed at 8.38 and is by WWMK2

GracesGranMK3 Thu 07-Nov-19 17:12:06

Are you on the right thread tooting. The post at 8.10 says nothing about snowflakes and it's by MawB.

gangy5 Thu 07-Nov-19 17:01:31

Funny how the aggressive perpetrators seem to know who they are. I'm quite happy to be labelled a snowflake - a far less unpleasant person and very happy with that.

Anniebach Thu 07-Nov-19 16:46:33

Callistemon they do get everywhere ?

Tooting29 Thu 07-Nov-19 16:41:35

WWM2 was your comment at 8.10 about snowflakes really necessary?

Callistemon Thu 07-Nov-19 11:31:54

Princess Anne Whitewave? grin

Anniebach [

I see that the Royal Family are having a respite at the moment but one tried to creep into the discussion anyway!

GracesGranMK3 Thu 07-Nov-19 09:56:47

But you recognise them Urmstongran, don't you? We aren't, at least most of us aren't, stupid and we check anything we distrust and ignore blind prejudice.

Urmstongran Thu 07-Nov-19 09:53:17

That’ll be most of us on the political threads then GGmk3
?

GracesGranMK3 Thu 07-Nov-19 09:36:14

I wouldn’t use GN as a source of information ? The amount of fake news is astounding!

I wouldn't use it as my only source of information but I think most of us know who we can trust and who just spouts their prejudices.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 07-Nov-19 09:21:02

Not sure where Anne came from ?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 07-Nov-19 09:20:27

I apologised as soon as realised my error, with regard to Cairns.

With regard to Cleverly I simply quoted what I saw with my own eyes.

Now gg13 and I are in conversation about that Anne what actually happened. She is presenting further evidence and I am talking about it with her.

That is how it works.

So stop throwing away silly remarks and have a conversation about stuff.

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 09:15:06

WWM2......you accused Alun Cairns of rape yesterday, and many posts from you of James Cleverly running away from an interview by Kate Birley.
Now, I haven’t found out yet about the interview and empty chairing, but am waiting for your next gaffe.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 07-Nov-19 09:10:01

Then call it out lemon with the correct information.

Simples

But I suspect that is just another throw away remark with nothing to back it which is your stock in trade.

lemongrove Thu 07-Nov-19 09:08:12

Why do some people think it's their job to define what may be on GN. As has been said before, if you don't like it don't go there. I never look at the games threads. It's not that difficult.

It's a election. You may not want information but others do. Dictating to others is such a poor level of discussion and very bad manners.
