Farage has just said his company will not stand candidates against sitting Tories. Has he been bribed?

Damn you grow there you go evidence, facts, research - will you never learn?

growstuff Mon 11-Nov-19 15:16:33

I don't think I should repeat in public what I'd do to promote him out of harm's way. Hint - it would include a rocket launcher, an orifice and outer space or sending him to sea in a sieve like the Jumblies.

growstuff re your 50p bet:
would that be promoting him out of harm's way?

I'm not betting btw

On another thread, Urmstongran (I think) mentioned that a million low-income people have recently registered to vote. I read the whole of the JRF report which made the claim.

Apparently, there are signs that low-income people (bottom quintile) are showing more interest in politics.

It's a very detailed report and makes a number of interesting points:

1 The majority of these "new" voters don't think Brexit is a priority and a small majority voted to remain (if they voted at all).

2 The majority intend to vote Labour, even if they don't like Corbyn. Only a small subset (known as elderly traditional working class) intend to vote for Brexit.

3 Farage is the most unpopular party leader.

4 Their top priorities are housing, health and restoring benefits to the link with inflation. Brexit isn't even in the top five.

Those kind of opinions don't indicate a Brexit & Co landslide to me.

If they're surprised by his duplicity, more fool them! I don't have an ounce of sympathy for anybody who has ever donated a penny to Brexit & Co.

You hope Firecracker grin

It seems those who had been persuaded to stand for the Brexit party, paid their money to do so and prepared accordingly- are NOT happy at all- as Farage has dumped them without any discussion or forewarning- They learnt theay had been dumped in the Press....

I will bookmark this thread for the 13th December

I say , I say , I say , I was on the way to the House of Commons when....

Firecracker123 Mon 11-Nov-19 14:26:57

It will happen Labour voters who voted Leave in the referendum feel betrayed by Corbyn. Brexit is the major issue in this election.

suziewoozie Mon 11-Nov-19 14:24:01

Wanting something to be true doesn’t make it true Fire

Jabberwok Mon 11-Nov-19 14:23:44

Hopefully!!!?

Firecracker123 Mon 11-Nov-19 14:22:09

Labour will be wiped out up North, the Midlands and Wales.

suziewoozie Mon 11-Nov-19 14:19:48

On fire today trisher

trisher Mon 11-Nov-19 14:18:14

It doesn't matter if country is put before party they both come a long way behind Farage.

suziewoozie Mon 11-Nov-19 14:15:07

Firecracker you should take up a career in stand up ???

Firecracker123 Mon 11-Nov-19 14:14:51

The Brexit Party will wipe the smile off Corbyn's face that's for sure.

Firecracker123 Mon 11-Nov-19 14:13:13

The Brexit Party is putting country before party.
They are targeting Labour leave seats.

suziewoozie Mon 11-Nov-19 14:12:54

Spot on trisher

suziewoozie Mon 11-Nov-19 14:12:00

Did anyone really think he was going to be able to find 600+.candidates that would pass the Twitter test?

trisher Mon 11-Nov-19 14:11:33

Oh come on surely no one realy believes that Farage has ever really wanted or believed in anything apart from the advancement of Nigel? He's worked out he probably won't get many seats so he's done some sort of deal. A title may be in the offing but I still think he'd like Ambassador as well.

Thank you for this link Maizie, especially the Dominic Cummings blog where he stated "Creating an exit plan that makes sense and which all reasonable people could unite around seems an almost insuperable task. Even if one succeeded, the sheer complexity of leaving would involve endless questions of detail that cannot be answered," he wrote. "There is much to be gained by swerving the whole issue."

The detail of how Brexit would actually work was, basically, too hard a sell. If people had got a glimpse of the decades of difficult trade-offs and punishing stalemates through which we are currently living, they would never choose them.

Much easier to cynically promise simple, brilliant, no-downside deals, concluded over a cup of tea in one afternoon, then pin the blame onto someone else when they do not materialise. Ireland, the EU, May, Johnson, parliament, judges, 'Remoaners' - anyone would do.
