Well anyone who thinks it’s appropriate to use that phrase is a wanker

Hetty58 Wed 13-Nov-19 12:42:34

Gonegirl, 'prim little old ladies' - there seem to be an awful lot on here!

Pantglas2 Wed 13-Nov-19 12:37:28

I remember my bible from Sunday school and RE lessons and obviously didn’t realise what it meant until I was an adult. Not sure it’s any more polite a term than the one that rhymes with banker.

Callistemon Wed 13-Nov-19 12:36:05

GN is a fount of knowledge!

Callistemon Wed 13-Nov-19 12:34:15

Well, I had to Google to find out what it meant.

I didn't think I'd led a sheltered life (not work wise anyway!) but that word passed me by.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:52:41

Bye

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:50:48

Got a morning to get on with now. Only came on to catch up on the clothes threads.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:50:23

Hardly lasting, it was only the other week. Don’t flatter yourself.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:49:20

Exactly gfp but there are some on GN who think they can make it all up as they go along.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:49:08

That's true. grin You have an excellent memory.

How did I come to make such a lasting impression on you?

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:47:49

Ooohhh Gone here comes the ageism and sexism now.

grapefruitpip Wed 13-Nov-19 11:47:22

anybody who tells people to fuck off on GN is not really in a position to be lecturing others on their choice of language.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:44:15

You have with your ridiculous post.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:43:52

You actually agree that it doesn't matter what the context is Annsixty? Unbelievable.

Has everyone on Gransnet got only the minds of prim little old ladies, whether you are one or not?

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:42:20

Bloody hell * Gone* what’s rattled your cage this morning?

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:41:27

I have a suspicion Gone that you are not happy with BJ using the phrase and so are deflecting your feelings onto me. It’s not mock horror at every little thing - what a childish response.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:40:28

As everyone knows exactly what he means, then of course it's appropriate. For adults only of course. Perhaps not you susiewoozie.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:38:52

Yes * Gone* we all understood what he meant by what he said. The question is whether that’s appropriate in political discourse.

annsixty Wed 13-Nov-19 11:38:37

I agree suziewoosie just felt I had missed some other stupid utterance from our PM.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:38:32

It wasn't funny. Well, only to you.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:38:00

Of course it matters how he is saying it! Content is everything.

Do stop throwing up your little girl hands in mock horror at every little thing.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:37:33

I thought my use of the word in the context of the thread was quite funny - I still do.

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:37:01

He is saying that Corbyn just wants the pleasure of being at the centre of attention for another few years whilst trying to work out another Brexit deal. He's right.

(ie Corbyn pleasuring only himself)

Gonegirl Wed 13-Nov-19 11:35:03

Anyone who uses the word "wanker" on Gransnet could be so described themselves.

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:32:40

Of course you do Gone

suziewoozie Wed 13-Nov-19 11:31:28

Does that really matter annsixty? It has no part in public political discourse does it ?
