Election canvassing

We get Election leaflets delivered with the post. The only people who actually walk here are the Jehovah Witnesses. I always joke that the first party who knocks on my door I will vote for !!

So far just a LibDem leaflet, no canvassers. Also not seeing any supportive posters in the houses. I wonder what the candidates are actually doing?

No leaflets yet but we did get a letter from Boris in the post this morning!

Just one leaflet here so far, from an independent, pro-Brexit candidate.
If it had been better written, my pro-Brexit OH says he might have voted for him, in the absence of a BP candidate in our constituency.
He won't vote Conservative this time, because he doesn't think Boris's deal really constitutes leaving, and says he probably won't vote at all this time!

Just one leaflet, Lib Dem, advising a meeting in the town. Went along as did loads of others. No sign of our MP Liam Fox, I think he believes he onto a winner with his 16,000 majority and doesn't need to bother. Would love to see him kicked out.

Swamped with leaflets for the Lib Dem candidate, but it will take a good deal more effort before she overcomes the poor impression she created at the service of Remembrance, where she made a huge fuss because the MP had a reserved seat and she hadn't. She complained loudly until one of the veterans told her that the service was to remember those who didn't come back, not those who were there, and if she didn't like it 'she could bugger off.'

I think they are concentrating on marginal seats because that's where the election is won or lost.

I have Labour posters up so it puts off canvassers anyway but am expecting eggs thrown at the window as I live in a Tory/Brexit area.

I actually had a phone call from our local Labour candidate yesterday, the first time I have ever spoken to a candidate. She probably wished she hadn't phoned after I told her my views.

we used to be always targetted by Tories at our UK home- because they assumed the length of the drive and the size and style of house meant we were bound to be Tories ...
They used to get quite a shock ;)

We were discussing the putting up of posters in our windows last night and agreed that it has quite an uplifting effect if you see a poster of your party of choice in someone's window. Having said that it has the opposite effect when we see UKIP/Brexit company posters/placards. It's only really the Conservatives and Labour that have the money to run election campaigns.

I saw our Tory candidate (was MP) and AM member walking purposefully along our road last week but we were just heading out.

Pity, as I had a list of questions to ask him none of them to do with politics!

Interesting to hear that some of you don't get canvassers. In previous years we have always had candidates knocking on doors so that's why I am surprised that this year we haven't. Since this is such a crucial election I thought there would be more electioneering all over the country. Perhaps they are all just too tired of politics.

I've never ever seen an election candidate wherever I've lived, town or country. We don't get leaflets here, either...

The only leaflets we’ve had so far are LD. No canvassers yet but I’ve lived here 35 years and never had other than a LD round. It’s one of the safest Tory seats in the country and we have one of the most famous MPs for being completely unknown.The constituency voted remain.

I haven't seen an election candidate for several years, neither for general or local elections.
We are on the very outskirts of town but town is small enough for the High St. to be in walking distance. We get forgotten out here.

No leaflets, no knocks at the door. Nada! Not that i see the point in it as if they do knock its only at election time.

Although I am an activist, I never go canvassing because I'm not much good at it, but a Jehova's Witness knocked on our door the other day and I think I may have persuaded him to vote LibDem.

Was it Billy Connelly who said ''Don't vote - it only encourages them''?

DH had a chat with our MP recently. She was out with her husband leafleting around the village. She's not hugely popular but she is accessible.

We never get canvassing around here it’s always been a solid Labour seat, I’m wondering how it will turn out this time as our long-standing MP has retired. We did get a Green leaflet.

My husband has, along with others, been out canvassing. Feedback has been promising for our Party of choice, but a huge loss of respect for other parties from what are often long term supporters. We haven't had any other Party knocking on our door.
