Boris cycling on pavement!

Two days ago, it was widely reported that Boris owned up to cycling on pavements, saying it was the "naughtiest" thing he had ever done, at least that he was prepared "to admit".

Well, judging by the views expressed by many Gransnetters on previous threads regarding this particular crime, this should blow his election chances right out of the water!

Surely they couldn't possibly now vote for a man who admits to committing this heinous crime? grin]

He is a blustering blithering idiot- allegedly.

FlexibleFriend Tue 10-Dec-19 13:00:24

Oh please.

Gonegirl Tue 10-Dec-19 13:02:54

grin grin grin

I read that too.

Poppyred Tue 10-Dec-19 13:03:23

Wait for the onrush! ??

Gonegirl Tue 10-Dec-19 13:03:34

Boris and I are obviously very wicked people.

Nothing would surprise me about you gonegirl. Just don’t ride up behind me that’s all. I’m too old to be frightened tchgrin ....and no bell ringing either ?? ?

eazybee Tue 10-Dec-19 13:28:06

I am glad he considers it to be naughty; most of the cyclists I encounter regard it as their 'right of way.'

Doodle Tue 10-Dec-19 13:28:08

Ahem. Those are two bells by the way, even though they resemble something else. ?

Gonegirl Tue 10-Dec-19 13:28:29

I haven't got a bell. The bike shop didn't put one on this bike! shock

I don't go very fast these days. Used to whizz along. sad

lemongrove Tue 10-Dec-19 13:28:30

Am shocked to the core MamaCaz ?

Gonegirl Tue 10-Dec-19 13:29:20

They look like bells to me. #allinthe mind hmm grin

How one cycles makes a difference. So do pavements.

If one cycles flat out on a town pavement, obviously this is a mortal sin.

Where I live it's okay to cycle on places where people also sometimes walk so long as you take care to trundle along slowly enough and ring your bell if there are any bends.

Cyclists and walkers share canal tow paths no bother.

janipat Tue 10-Dec-19 18:48:04

Except it's legal to cycle on towpaths and other designated shared spaces. It is illegal to cycle on pavements in towns and cities. A bell warning coming from behind a deaf person is of very little use. In my area there are wide, protected by bollards, cycle lanes. It is not unusual to see cyclists using the pavement alongside the empty cycle lane. I assume because they want to ride opposite to the direction of travel and can't be bothered to cross the road.

I’m surprised that he thinks it’s the naughtiest thing he’s ever done - the rest of the world and their dogs know that’s not true. That man’s got a very loose grasp of reality.

Baggs Tue 10-Dec-19 19:22:43

He doesn't think it's the naughtiest thing he's ever done. He said it's the naughtiest thing he's willing to admit to.

Gonegirl Tue 10-Dec-19 19:24:19

Ah! That makes a big difference. ?

I think that cheating on your wife(s) and numerous girlfriends, refusing to acknowledge your children, (legitimate and illegitemate), being sacked twice for lying and lying to HM the Queen trumps "cycling on the pavement".

Who knows what much naughtier, even wickeder things this serial liar and charlatan has done?

SirChenjin Tue 10-Dec-19 19:36:23

I know that’s what he said Baggs - my point was that his more serious misdemeanours are well documented and in the public domain.
