Rosina, what I've done all the way through, since it became obvious that we were heading to another election, has been to see the propaganda, then to search online for other perspectives.

When everyone said JC was a poor public speaker, I watched his speeches on You Tube. When they said he hadn't been at the cenotaph (or whatever the insult of the day was), I looked it up online. With the Diane Abbott massive facts and figures radio error, I looked it up (she was having a diabetic hypo). I can't remember the older stories, there were so many. BUT I never took anything at face value. And sure enough, if it was negative and directed in a left-wing direction, it was fake.

You can't TELL most people that though. They just think you're a zealot. But it does keep your head together.

It's the old, old story really. You can't believe ANYTHING the media tells you.

Oh good grief - more lies and false reports. I hadn't read anything further about the 'child on the floor' as I haven't opened a newspaper until this afternoon, and I still haven't seen any article about what now seems to be the true story in anything I have read - Times, Telegraph and Mail, this afternoon. I did get most indignant about false reporting. I am indignant again, but obviously for different reasons. So depressing - what can we believe?

I agree Grany. I don't think they'll call it austerity anymore. It'll just be the new normal. No public services, denuded NHS, no elder care, no support for anyone with a disability.

That is what anyone vulnerable is to our government. Surplus population. And like Malthus, they would prefer if we just went away and died. As many have under this government over the last 10 years. Diabetics, elderly, people on hospital waiting lists.

We are reliving Dickensian times. The undeserving poor.

We all need a strong economy what like Tories these past nearly 10 years. They used unessessary austerity which the poorest had to shoulder while the richest 1% got tax cuts. Do you think that that is managing the economy? Cuts to all essential public services. So much unfairness all so that the very rich can get even richer. Labour had to deal with global resession caused by the greedy banks the Tory chancellor amongst others dealing in derivatives at the time caused the banking crisis in the first place. And by the way the government finance is not run like a household budget though these Tories would like to make you think that is so. You need to spend on essential services to invest in the economy then you get it all back that is basic economics. We don't want permanent austerity don't see the economy getting better while the Tories are still in power.

maryhoffman, How do you know these things will happen? How do any of us really know whether or not things would be better if Jeremy Corbyn had won.

My family is divided equally between leave and remain. Two of our grandsons are graduates in politics and have appropriate careers. One is remain, one is leave. We have all taken great care to appreciate eachothers' views. I voted Conservative but if Labour had won I would have accepted the result and looked forward with interest to all the reforms they have promised.

As it is I'm hopeful that there will be some stability now. Uncertainty over Brexit has not been good for the country so at least we now know in which direction we are going. Only time will tell whether or not Boris will be a good PM. It's not fair to write him off just yet. Remember all the euphoria when Blair was first voted in?

I am proud that democracy won the day. Now we have to trust that our votes will result in a better future.

I am devastated. It's another bereavement like the one on the morning of June 24th, 2016. Five years of a man not fit to be Prime Minister, more austerity, more loss of workers' rights, more foodbanks, more trouble for the NHS, more homelessness. I just want to hide under the duvet and weep.

Rosina, please stop repeating the lie about the photo of the child being staged. The original story was thoroughly checked by the reporter who wrote it - confirmed by the hospital where the child was treated. The hospital subsequently apologised to his family for the poor treatment he received. The claims that it was staged were spread by Tory propagandists.

Grany. I can only speak for my DiL who is a NHS consultant. I have no idea who she has voted for in the past, Labour I suspect, but this time she voted for Boris. Her reason for doing so was that she was worried about the threat McDonnell made to get rid of public schools and her DS
will be going to one next year. I’m sure was not the only doctor who voted Conservative this time.

As a Labour voter, it is clear to me that the majority of anti-Corbyn comments have been taken from newspapers.

I despair how any future opposition parties will stand a change with such powerful right wing press barons in charcge of our media.

Em...Rosina where have you been? It was not staged. It was proved to have not been staged. A disgusting letter from a ‘senior nurse’ was proved to be fake. National TV deplored the fake news set up by a Tory activist and even posters on here apologised for posting and believing this vile slur.

I don't think Boris 'ran away and hid in a fridge' - he was presented with aphoto that was disturbing and quite clearly, knowing nothing about the situation, he could not say much except express sympathy. What was he expected to do? Resign on the spot? ? As we all now know, a few hours later this 'appalling' incident, and the 'disgusting' situation the child was in, that of having been left on a floor by the 'uncaring NHS', was proved to be a staged photo organised by the poor child's parents which was subsequently sold to a newspaper. Caring parents, eh?

Give Boris a chance and see where we are in a year's time. He made a stunning speech yesterday promising to unite the country and to make the NHS a priority. This is the start of a new era now he has a majority so let's see what happens before throwing more abuse at him.

CoolioC, maybe that's true for you - it's not the case for me. I know plenty of "do gooders" who actually do good things quietly and because they genuinely do care for the many, not the few. And they tend not to cast aspersions on others either...

Agreed, NHS workers usually vote Labour, but they should remember that we need a strong economy to run the NHS otherwise where do they think the money will come from? Labour don't have a clue with money, they just think they can play Robin Hood and drain the country's wealth.
