Does anyone really believe that? That the majority of people hate the rest.
Why not believe that the swathes of people who voted Tory did so with the best of intentions and with hope in their hearts for the whole country.
In my view the hate was emanating from her.
Nfk, brilliant picture and good post. So very true.
GagaJo.
I voted conservative I have a disabled step daughter so you can`t generalise, and no I am not wealthy in any way shape or form .
I live on a council estate too.
And no I am not shooting myself in the foot.
We are all allowed our opinion and it`s called democracy.
Terribull. I can't follow your rationale. Well, I've told you my POV. The Chinese people are lovely. Friendly, warm and welcoming to foreigners. Very unlike many British who are making huge constitutional changes largely because they dislike foreigners.
It has been said on another thread that in fact we have now voted to leave THREE TIMES.
2016 referendum
2017 European election where the Brexit party dominated and
2019 yesterday
No remain or Labour supporter could argue with that.
I don`t dislike any race GagaJo.
And I personally know very few people who dislike foreigners.
No one can generalise to that degree.
What I would add is w e as a country have too many here taking up school/hospital etc places.
That is not their fault it`s the governments over the past years that have allowed us to be a little over run.
Gagajo, British people don’t dislike foreigners, they welcome them, as visitors to GB and as potential citizens of the GB. You are talking utter tosh when you say British people don’t like foreigners. We are well known for being a welcoming country, that’s one reason why so many people want to come here. Try going to live in Hungary, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, or many other countries and you’ll soon find out what being unwelcoming is.
What I would add is w e as a country have too many here taking up school/hospital etc places.
Paying taxes. Fortunately for a LOT of people on this site. No pension for you otherwise.
EXACTLY my point though. Voted Brexit because of immigration. Very, very sad.
irene....Bradford? Dewsbury?
Maddyone, the poster DIRECTLY above you admitted it was why she voted Brexit.
timetogo, I have to drive up to Cumbria often and I stare out at that rather bleak, uninhabited landscape. Nobody there, not " indigenous" or immigrant. I think it is the urban areas with dense populations, mono cultural ghettos that are problematic.
A massive error and a gift to the right wing.
gagajo Why do you assume all Conservative voters are rich you obviously do not know many people. My husband and I both came from working class families. My husband from a fairly large family while my parents chose to have just me mainly I think because they both came from large families. My husband had to leave school at 14 worked extremely hard sometimes 12/14 hours a day after serving apprenticeship finished up with a company employing many people. I sugggest you speak to many more people about their lives before you start giving your biased opinions.===
Yes I don't doubt the Chinese people are lovely, I'm not questioning that.
Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a country that has capital punishment or rounds up sections of their society to put them in camps somewhere.
You cannot castigate a whole nation based on some experiences, by saying "unlike many British" "many" being the operative word. How many British have you encountered, I live on the edge of London which has a high foreign demographic, it's where the foreign parts of my family emigrated to and settled and they found it welcoming enough to stick around and marry into the English population.
Gagajo, you’re spouting yet more rubbish. Brexit was not and is not about not liking immigrants. It was about a lack of proper democracy and accountability. It was about EU law trumping national law. It was about being tied into a single market and customs union that suits the Europeans but doesn’t sit well in Britain because we are essentially a service economy.
Get off your hobby horse, take off your blinkers, and at least think about why the people want to leave the EU. Stop parroting the usual insults.
And for good measure, why in God’s name would you want to live in a country that executes more people than the rest of the world every year, and the executions are performed with a bullet into the back of the head/neck. That’s an appalling abuse of human rights, and you pretend to care.
Gagajo, the poster directly above said it was the government’s fault, not the immigrants. Don’t deliberately misunderstand.
Thank you, maddyone, but I understand perfectly, thank you. My point is that whole countries are now in that situation, not just non Tory voters. Surely you can understand how people might feel aggrieved about that.
Somebody actually listens to that great intellectual philosopher and deep thinker Lily Allen????????. It is ridiculous , stupid and extremely dangerous and damaging to believe that people voted for any party out of cruelty, wickedness or ill intent. People voted for who they believed would serve our country best. We all have different opinions. We are not idiots nor are we brainwashed. We just have different thoughts. That is why we live in a democracy and not some closed North Korea type state.
inkcog I don't see how such a huge majority could be caller 'a polite cough'! We roared at Westminster to get on with it and break the stalemate hindering progress.
43.6% of the votes is not a majority. Even if you add on the votes for the Con's friends in the DUP, Brexit Party and UKIP, it is still less than half of the votes.
Varian" in 2005 Labour won a 66 seat majority with just 35% of the vote on a 61% turnout the support in other words of about 22% of the total electorate"

I assume that was ok because it wasn't the Conservatives?

Sooooo, I don’t dislike foreigners, I just don’t want them in my schools/hospitals.
Got it.
No matter whose fault it is that they are here, that’s a pretty strong anti-foreigner statement.
Whilst I don't believe the majority of people hate others who vote differently, I strongly believe that Brexit has stirred up bad feelings and nastiness that we never had before and the division it has caused will not be healed in our lifetime.
Rest assured, that if we did go down the route of a party doing what ever they please, and it not being in the best interest of the country, we do have the backstop of the Queen, who can refuse to sign documents she’s not happy with. She is our safety net, whatever you may think of her, unlike Germany, when Hitler was elected, there was no one to stop him.

"Strangely enough, for the first time ever, my/our votes counted- and a young woman of afro-carribean origin was elected in our Constituency. Looking forward to go and congratulate her in person."-
When you come over to England to congratulate her is your constituency in Leicester by any chance the one won by Momentum candidate Claudia Webb who took over from the disgraced Labour MP Keith Vaz?

NO it is not OK that we have such an undemocratic voting system. Our politics is rotten to the core
