Was taken from Sandringham to Edward 7th hospital ,London for observation in relation to a pre existing condition.

My heart went out to the Queen she looked so sad and lonely on the news at the station

Nanny41 Sat 21-Dec-19 13:58:22

I have to defend the Queen, she is loyal, she will not abdicate. As far as Prince Philips Hospital observation period,I think he will annoy everybody until he is discharged in a few days, the Queen probably knows this, and is taking care of her visitors arriving at Sandringham in the next few days.If his condition was serious she would be by his side.

I agree with Urmstongran. I feel sorry that PP is ill but I do resent the health care that they have compared to the rest of us. It just isn't fair.
How reassuring it would be to know that whatever little ailment you have you can get seen to immediately, so no stress about possibly being ill and not getting to see a doctor /consultant. While the rest of us have to resort to Mr Google whilst waiting. .......weeks..months..years.
The RF must be aware of this privilege. How do they justify it to themselves?

annemac101 Sat 21-Dec-19 15:04:48

There will be hundreds or more families in the UK at this moment dealing with ill relatives. Some will be babies, toddlers, young people and many will die before they have lived a life. Price Phillip will have much better care than any of those I' ve mentioned. He has lived a long and privileged life. Let his family worry about him,no need for us to speculate whether he has a bladder infection or not. Save your sympathy for people who can't get an ambulance or are lying for hours on a hospital trolley not a man who is getting the best treatment our money can buy.

annemac101 very well said

Anniebach Sat 21-Dec-19 15:08:58

annepl would you refuse private health care for your family
and tell them ‘Other people can’t afford private health care and have to be treated in the NHS ,even thought I can afford
to pay for you I will not until everyone can’

oodles Sat 21-Dec-19 15:09:47

possibly the reason for using the King Edward hospital is so members of the royal family can visit each other much more easily than if they were at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Kings Lynn, less disruption to other patients too, although I presume like many other hospitals they have the potential to
have private patients. Possibly PP might not want to go to the Queen Elizabeth hospital either, just because of the name.

Old Prince Philip what a remarkable age hope he gets another two years and our Royal Sovereign can send him his telegram.

I like both of them they have had a hard time recently they are elderly now and need some peace.

MerylStreep Sat 21-Dec-19 15:50:39

All the sniping and nastiness but not one word praising the wonderful scheme he set up to help all youngsters.
The Duke of Edinburgh awards.

ReadyMeals Sat 21-Dec-19 15:51:05

3nanny6 they are indeed old and I do wish the Queen would retire and have a few years just doing what she wants - and maybe spend more time with her husband while he's still around (if they want to, of course)

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 15:59:43

The Duke of Edinburgh’s award was established by three men - The Duke of Edinburgh, Kurt Hahn who was the founder and headmaster of Gordonstoun School and the founder of Outward Bound, and Lord Hunt, who was the leader of the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. It’s a great thing for sure, but doesn’t excuse the worst of his behaviour over the years.

Anniebach Sat 21-Dec-19 16:04:54

Nothing and no one is forgivable?

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 16:08:31

I’m just a poor lowly subject, it’s not within my gift to forgive his behaviour. The only people who can forgive him - if they do choose - are the people his comments and behaviour have affected. Meanwhile I’ll just maintain my own rather low opinion of him as I’m fully entitled to do. Disclaimer: other opinions of him are available and also valid.

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 16:08:45

So choose

I was responding to a post from quizqueen. The bolded were her words.

I don’t care if the Queen visits in hospital or not. Just seemed a silly thing to judge her on

inkcog Sat 21-Dec-19 16:15:29

Is Diana forgivable and the lady with the funny name who is taking time out?

suttonJ Sat 21-Dec-19 16:15:37

SirChenjin.....join me in thinking that we are citizens, NOT subjects.

ReadyMeals Sat 21-Dec-19 16:18:05

Summerlove, I wish this forum software was a bit more up to date with proper quoting features sad

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 16:22:10

I’m already there with you suttonJ, believe me smile

MerylStreep Sat 21-Dec-19 16:31:08

ReadyMeals
There are quoting features on GN. just like this

Ilovecheese Sat 21-Dec-19 16:31:36

Anniebach why are you assuming that annpl would not refuse private health care? Many people do refuse it on principle. My husband has done so in previous employment.

Callistemon Sat 21-Dec-19 16:38:28

We don't know that it is the Queen's decision, it could be that Philip doesn't want visitors.

I can imagine him telling them all not to make such a fuss!

JenniferEccles Sat 21-Dec-19 16:51:44

Although I can understand everyone’s point about the royals having first class medical treatment the fact surely remains that very few would want to swap lives with them.

SirChenjin Sat 21-Dec-19 17:06:15

Which Royals are we talking about?

I’m pretty sure that if you went into many communities up and down the country you’d find large swathes of people who would happily swap damp housing, minimum wages, poor health, lack of opportunities and the daily grind for the life of a royal - just keep your head down, smile nicely when you’re opening a community centre, don’t proffer your opinions, don’t make racist or sexist remarks and lead a quiet life the rest of the time.

Anniebach Sat 21-Dec-19 17:08:15

ilovecheese I asked annpl* a question. I do wonder how many would opt for NHS if they could afford private, I so
wish I could have paid for elder daughter to have private healthcare, not for maternity care but for the illness which ended her life.
