Boris has ‘no plans’ to visit flooded areas

Unless he is shamed into visiting it appears he plans to spend Christmas at No. 10 with girlfriend while victims are spending Christmas in temporary accommodation.

Are we surprised?

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 12:33:44

? ? ? ??

trisher Tue 24-Dec-19 13:19:57

Knowing how he operates- pass the buck (sometimes called delegation) I can't think he will be missed at all. Of course he could have stayed here and spent Christmas doing something good and useful but I suppose at least he's started the way he means to go on.

JenniferEccles Tue 24-Dec-19 14:07:31

Come on. He’s entitled to a break.
Whether you voted for him or not , everyone can surely understand that the country needs a PM rested and firing on all cylinders.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Dec-19 14:51:19

Jane10 and jenniferecckesof course they need a rest poor dears my heart bleeds for them they must be so worn out working out how to successfully con the minions
Gosh I didn’t realise he’d ‘saved’ the country jabberwok how silly am I I must keep up more what a hero !!!

GagaJo Tue 24-Dec-19 15:09:14

Haha, BlueBelle! Bon point.

Seems his very hard work has paid off. The blue and yellow minis on here are completely taken in.

Jane10 Tue 24-Dec-19 15:16:24

Gagajo what on earth are you on about? Nobody said that we were 'taken in' by anybody. Maybe we just had slightly more open minds and were willing to give someone a chance to actually do something instead of just vetoing every suggestion.

Summerlove Tue 24-Dec-19 15:39:17

Why not just have a break when situations are over? No one said he shouldn’t ever

Just not now

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 15:45:22

Why not now?!! Its the Christmas break for Parliament, both here and in the EU so can't see many MP' either side of the channel being up for earnest debate!! Boris is only away for the New Year, Christmas day is at No 10, or is that wrong too?!

JenniferEccles Tue 24-Dec-19 15:56:06

It was more the case of not being gullible enough to fall for the idiotic hard Left Momentum led policies.

The country wasn’t taken in and didn’t we rejoice when the exit polls were revealed. ?

I actually leapt to my feet at ten o’clock as did my husband.

There were no cameras to capture the moment though as there were with Boris and Carrie!!

Callistemon Tue 24-Dec-19 16:05:51

What are the blue and yellow minis please?
tchconfused

endlessstrife Tue 24-Dec-19 16:15:07

It wouldn’t matter what Boris does, it’ll be wrong.

vinasol Tue 24-Dec-19 16:17:24

As I have no time for Bojo, I can't say that I am surprised at his choice.

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 16:19:57

We hardly dared listen J.E, but took a deep breath and prepared for the worse! At 10pm we were cautiously hopeful! but you know what they say, 'many a slip etc'! Then listening to the actual results early Friday morning, like you we were absolutely delighted, but more than that, the feeling of relief was indescribable! No camera's here either!
Boris is more than welcome to a few days of relaxation in the sun as far as we're concerned!

Callistemon Tue 24-Dec-19 16:27:23

I'm still struggling to know what minis have to do with this thread.
Blue and yellow ones in particular

Anyone?

Jabberwok Tue 24-Dec-19 16:39:56

Sorry, I'm as mystified as you! I think any explanation may end up in the long grass along with the 13 month pregnancy! Still waiting to hear about that but nothing seems forthcoming !!

notanan2 Tue 24-Dec-19 16:41:51

Glad he is not using up essential services time to manage the logistics of a PR visit at a time when they need to focus on the task at hand!

Ilovecheese Tue 24-Dec-19 16:49:01

So was Prince Charles doing the right thing or the wrong thing when he visited?

notanan2 Tue 24-Dec-19 16:52:29

Depends on logistics. Charles is basically a farmer at heart. He doesnt need "minding" in the countryside and will have brought his own all weather vehicles so may have been actually able to contribute to the efforts that way.

Boris would need all that laid on for him.

GagaJo Tue 24-Dec-19 16:52:57

Sorry! Minions. Reply to BlueBelle's post.

lemongrove Tue 24-Dec-19 16:53:09

The consensus on here is that he is entitled to have a break, along with the cabinet and all MP’s who are also having a Christmas break....and quite right too.
The truth is yehbutnobut from your coments on various threads, you are so seething about the Conservative win at the GE , that you are starting threads with the flimsiest of unreasonable complaints, to try and get people to argue and others to join in with you.
Quite ridiculous.

Callistemon Tue 24-Dec-19 16:59:01

Oh sorry, that was me!

I had the DGC staying over and never got back to posting about the 13 month pregnancy.
I can't look it up at the moment but I think that the heir to the throne, Richard, Duke of York, was away fighting a war against the French. The Duchess of York supposedly became pregnant by a French archer; that child, who became Edward 1V, was accepted and succeeded to the throne.
Had he not been accepted then George Plantagenet, Duke of Clarence, and his heirs would have succeeded to the throne.

If the child had not been accepted as a royal descendant, then the Plantagenets would have continued the succession right until today through that line to Michael Abney-Hastings and his descendants.

SueDonim Tue 24-Dec-19 17:01:58

According to my friend, Ilovecheese, Prince Charles was doing the wrong thing by visiting. She thought it was pointless. I very much doubt he travels around with all-terrain vehicles!

However, to judge by photos I’ve seen of his visit, others appreciated his interest. Both Charles & Camilla have quietly done a lot of work in Ballater since it was overwhelmed with flooding in Storm Frank a few years ago. They have put money into local businesses and rolled up sleeves and lent a hand. A friend of mine who was helping out in the initial rescue operation didn’t even realise who she had been working alongside until someone told her!

Jane10 Tue 24-Dec-19 17:06:42

That's interesting SueDonim. Nice that they got stuck in at the sharp end. It's a nightmare situation for those affected by flooding.

Ilovecheese Tue 24-Dec-19 17:07:38

Thanks, SueDonin and notanan2. Different opinions, both valid I suppose.

Callistemon Tue 24-Dec-19 17:07:40

Oh, I see now

So what you are saying is that anyone who voted blue or yellow ie Tory or Lib Dem, is a minion, ie child-like and gullible.

What an insult.

Especially listening to some of those treating Corbyn like a cult leader.
I was astonished, when I did go to a hustings, at the childishness of the Labour candidate's supporters who had followed her from out of this constituency. They had to be told how to behave by the chairwoman otherwise the meeting would have ended in chaos.
