Boris has ‘no plans’ to visit flooded areas

Thats his parents though, Charles dedicates much of his life to countryside maintenance and has a great bank of knowledge, as well as equipment and fleets of suitable vehicles.

He also rent relatively quietly.

People want Boris seen / photographed there. On show. Which would definitely ^not be helpful

I think you'll find that Boris has waterproofs, a stout pair of Wellies and a pretty good understanding of country/farming life. The family have a farm on Exmoor where he's spent a good part of his life, both living there and visiting. DH and I lived on Exmoor for 20 odd years,(DH was born there) and bought a generator from Birdie Johnson (Boris's great aunt, I think!) and to say that the farm is at the back of beyond is an understatement!! So I don't think floods or mud would phase Boris!

I was astonished, when I did go to a hustings, at the childishness of the Labour candidate's supporters who had followed her from out of this constituency. They had to be told how to behave by the chairwoman otherwise the meeting would have ended in chaos.

That's interesting SueDonim. Nice that they got stuck in at the sharp end. It's a nightmare situation for those affected by flooding.

According to my friend, Ilovecheese, Prince Charles was doing the wrong thing by visiting. She thought it was pointless. I very much doubt he travels around with all-terrain vehicles!

However, to judge by photos I’ve seen of his visit, others appreciated his interest. Both Charles & Camilla have quietly done a lot of work in Ballater since it was overwhelmed with flooding in Storm Frank a few years ago. They have put money into local businesses and rolled up sleeves and lent a hand. A friend of mine who was helping out in the initial rescue operation didn’t even realise who she had been working alongside until someone told her!

I can't look it up at the moment but I think that the heir to the throne, Richard, Duke of York, was away fighting a war against the French. The Duchess of York supposedly became pregnant by a French archer; that child, who became Edward 1V, was accepted and succeeded to the throne.
Had he not been accepted then George Plantagenet, Duke of Clarence, and his heirs would have succeeded to the throne.

If the child had not been accepted as a royal descendant, then the Plantagenets would have continued the succession right until today through that line to Michael Abney-Hastings and his descendants.

The consensus on here is that he is entitled to have a break, along with the cabinet and all MP’s who are also having a Christmas break....and quite right too.

Depends on logistics. Charles is basically a farmer at heart. He doesnt need "minding" in the countryside and will have brought his own all weather vehicles so may have been actually able to contribute to the efforts that way.

Boris would need all that laid on for him.

Glad he is not using up essential services time to manage the logistics of a PR visit at a time when they need to focus on the task at hand!

Sorry, I'm as mystified as you! I think any explanation may end up in the long grass along with the 13 month pregnancy! Still waiting to hear about that but nothing seems forthcoming !!

We hardly dared listen J.E, but took a deep breath and prepared for the worse! At 10pm we were cautiously hopeful! but you know what they say, 'many a slip etc'! Then listening to the actual results early Friday morning, like you we were absolutely delighted, but more than that, the feeling of relief was indescribable! No camera's here either!
Boris is more than welcome to a few days of relaxation in the sun as far as we're concerned!
