Borrowed from a Friend on FB. Just to make people clear of what, as a nation, we have voted for:

In his first four days as Prime Monster of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson has:

Cut the disability benefits of 650,000 vulnerable humans.

Rolled back on plans to address the climate change emergency.

Banned any boycott of Israel and supported their renewed offensive against the unarmed civilians of Gaza.

Removed child refugee legal protections.

Rolled back his pledge to increase nurses for the NHS.

Told us that the NHS is no longer protected from a trade deal with the US.

Told us that future deals will be conducted in secret.

Blocked anyone without photo ID from voting in future elections.

Drafted new constituency boundaries to keep the Tories in power indefinitely.

Dismissed renewed calls for a second Scottish independence referendum causing further disharmony.

Stated that workers rights and Trade Unions are under threat.

Rolled back pledge to increase the national living wage.

Announced an increase in MP’s wages to £82k a year

Scrapped EU directives on holiday pay, sick leave and working hours.

Stated that Brexit is happening by the the 31st of January with the worst no-deal scenario yet.

Dottynan Thu 26-Dec-19 18:41:30

Thank you Jabberwok.

Starblaze Thu 26-Dec-19 18:44:32

Telling someone to emigrate if they don't like it is basically a covert way of telling them to truck off.. That was a covert way of saying the other thing btw

Doodledog Thu 26-Dec-19 18:47:17

I would hate to live in China. I like living here, and inasmuch as anyone can lay claim to a country, this one is 'mine'. I have lived here all my life, and see no reason why the fact that I am uneasy about the way politics is going should mean that I should leave.

Did you push off to Brazil or somewhere when we had a Labour government, Dottynan?

Jabberwok Thu 26-Dec-19 18:59:46

You're welcome Dottynan ( I love the name!☺️).
No one on here has as far as I'm aware, has ever praised the government of Brazil so why would anyone want to go there?!

Doodledog Thu 26-Dec-19 19:11:15

It is a regime that, by the same logic as Dottynan used, might appeal to someone who had issues with a Labour government (ie 'if you don't like it, go somewhere with a different way of ruling'). If Brazil is the wrong choice, choose another country with a regime that is a long way from centrist socialism - it really doesn't matter to the point I was making.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 26-Dec-19 19:12:34

Thank you Jabberwok. That's one step forward. How does that relate to the OP, please.

growstuff Thu 26-Dec-19 19:27:46

The OP listed listed a number of concerns about issues which voters might not have been aware of.

Maybe they were aware. In which case how do they justify them?

Maybe they weren't aware. In which case, do they feel they were conned? Or do they still prefer to keep their heads in the sand and ignore them?

Maybe they want to dispute the claims. Who knows?

This isn't some kind of political game. This is reality for millions of people.

tooting Jane10 and Jabberwok and Opal ???
Well said, all of you.
I suppose the disappointed LP and Corbyn supporters on GN just have to have things to moan and groan about at all times, and will no doubt do so for the next five years!
Those of us who got the result we wanted are happy and have had an enjoyable Christmas,so maybe we should feel sorry for them.......or not??

lemongrove Thu 26-Dec-19 19:38:55

Either way, you would think they may have wanted a break, but apparently not.

growstuff Thu 26-Dec-19 19:46:04

Nobody can ever take a break from poverty, disability or serious illness.

I had hoped the Botanical Bullies were indulging in cheap Prosecco and emotional tat, so wouldn't have time for GN. Apparently not!

GagaJo Thu 26-Dec-19 19:48:09

Those of us who got the result we wanted are happy and have had an enjoyable Christmas,so maybe we should feel sorry for them.......or not??

Not a thought for anyone less fortunate. Says it all really.

BTW, time to move on from Corbyn Lemongrove. He's long gone. Try to focus on the government we have now.

GagaJo Thu 26-Dec-19 19:49:14

So witty growstuff! I was about to include a sarcastic comment, but yours trumps mine, so I won't bother.

growstuff Thu 26-Dec-19 19:51:12

It wasn't intended to be witty. It was written from my heart, as my own experience of Christmas.

Starblaze Thu 26-Dec-19 19:55:57

Probably better to ignore people who think they are winning some sort of Internet points. A life without compassion or any relevant thought is not a happy one... That is why they take it out on others

I agree Starblaze. It really makes me wonder how such people have become so bitter and self-centred.

GagaJo Thu 26-Dec-19 19:59:05

2nd part growstuff, not the first bit. I agree. Sending you love. Not any practical use I know.

I agree, Starblaze.

growstuff Thu 26-Dec-19 20:04:19

Thank you GagaJo. I would have spent Christmas Day and Boxing Day totally on my own, so I volunteered with a local charity. It was an interesting experience and has left me emotionally drained and more angry than ever with some of the posters on here.

lemongrove Thu 26-Dec-19 20:11:13

Hilarious!?
Virtue signalling and poor jokes, I wonder who you were in past GN lives growstuff ( although I have a good idea.)
Give it up! Sour left wing ranting has no effect on me at all.

trisher Thu 26-Dec-19 21:02:41

Is there a single post on here from the right wingers that actually discusses the things in the OP instead of just criticising those who find the OP very worrying and disturbing? I think not. I can only conclude that either they are too ashamed to admit that these things are happening or are closing their eyes to them.

GagaJo Thu 26-Dec-19 21:20:51

I really don't mind those with different political viewpoints. But the sheer nastiness of some posters on here really does show how easy would be for Britain to sink into the morass of extreme-right cruelty, USA style (caging of refugee children, allowing a known rapist to become a supreme court judge, encouraging the build-up of racism).

I thought the British were better than that.

Barmeyoldbat Thu 26-Dec-19 21:23:05

Nowhere on this thread have I seen any poster who is happy with this new government give any sensible response to the questions asked e.g.

How do they feel about the back tracking on the number of nurses.
How do they feel about the NHS.
Pay risers for MPs
etc.

All I have seen is denial. My responses have been based on experience, especially the one on Social Benefits and care maybe those that are happy have private health care and will not have to worry about the NHS, maybe they have never had or know anyone who has applied for benefits. So please can we have some sensible responses from the doubters.

GracesGranMK3 Thu 26-Dec-19 22:41:06

Exactly BoB. The spitting venom doesn't get them anywhere. I just end up thinking they lack capacity. If so it's not their fault. Catch on to an out of date saying like "virtue signalling" and think it proves how clever you are. Sad really.

One thing I did hear this evening, and it will be interesting to see how it turns out, is that the government is going across government departments and setting up a form of citizens assemblies to decide on the future plans for farming. I can't find anything about it but it seems to be a bit of a trend.

Summerlove Thu 26-Dec-19 22:57:50

It is truly sad that instead of interesting rebuttals to proven points it’s all name calling and ignoring of “hard questions”.

I suppose once you’ve “won”, the results don’t matter again until the next election.
