I loved the message it sent to the country. We may not have the government we wanted but all those who had a re-energized belief in British politics are still there. Solidarity!

I'm aware the usual naysayers will be on here, hurling abuse. But they don't cancel out that lovely message. If anything, they make it even more important.

Has a K in it.

Callistemon Wed 01-Jan-20 22:44:35

Still puzzling what d* is though.

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:42:55

Callistemon, people can chose whatever label they like. Or they can chose not to label.

Callistemon Wed 01-Jan-20 22:40:55

I didn't hear any chanting either.

I, too, thought fairies was homophobic; at least I'm not going to shout that over the fence at my neighbours.

Can you be a lesbian for 10 years then change your mind?
Surely your definition of self would be bisexual?

You do learn something new every day on GN.

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:22:59

Grandiosity, much? Meh. Whatever.

Chewbacca Wed 01-Jan-20 22:21:07

Starmer. Damned autocorrect kept changing it to starker and then starm!

Urmstongran Wed 01-Jan-20 22:20:42

You always delight in calling me out GagaJo! Look further upthread before my post. How come you didn’t call varian Or GG13 out? They didn’t post a ‘fun’ comment either!
?

Chewbacca Wed 01-Jan-20 22:20:14

I'd be happy with Starm Urmstongran. Best of the bunch imo.

BREAKING NEWS:
(just now, The Guardian on line)

Keir Starmer has emerged as an early frontrunner in the Labour leadership race to succeed Jeremy Corbyn after a poll of members suggested he was the first choice in all regions of the UK, age groups and social classes.

The shadow Brexit secretary is yet to formally launch his campaign but is expected to do so in the first few weeks of the new year. The new leader will be elected in March after Corbyn said he would step down following the party’s catastrophic general election defeat.

Chewbacca Wed 01-Jan-20 22:17:36

Is it not a homophobic slur then? My 4 gay (male) friends would be most upset to be referred to a "fairies". And I'd certainly never use that term myself but then.... what do I know?

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:16:37

Urm, the thread was about a bit of chanting. Light hearted, frivolous, FUN (god forbid), not a deep analysis of the LP.

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:15:39

*not best cancer (what an oxymoron!). BREAST cancer. Typo

Urmstongran Wed 01-Jan-20 22:15:38

Honestly having seen the head in the sand delusion by the left of the party in the last few weeks I cannot see Labour in its current iteration even remotely near power.

a "period of reflection" seems to be just admiring their reflection in the mirror and how great they have been.

Just dissonance on a grand scale.

A split is more likely.

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:13:43

Chewbacca, HOW the hell is Soho unPC?

EITHER I'm way out of date, or some of you are WAY out of London.

Let me do a quick straw poll of my gay mates online.

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 22:12:34

Eh? Since when? Me best mate is a gay bloke. He was going to be surrogate mum if I died from best cancer. I was a lesbian (nearly said something else) for 10 years. Since when has fairy and a range of other words been insults?

I happily called myself a d* for 10 years.

Chewbacca Wed 01-Jan-20 22:11:44

Fairies and Soho? Not PC at all.

Urmstongran Wed 01-Jan-20 22:10:00

Not PC GagaJo most unlike you!

lemongrove Wed 01-Jan-20 22:02:25

The exit polls got it almost right Grany as they often do.That’s before the count.
No, it wasn’t rigged and never has been.

lemongrove Wed 01-Jan-20 22:00:26

Bit homophobic there Gaga hmm

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 21:31:34

Weeeelllll, if you're looking for fairies, you should have gone to Soho, not your dreams.

ExperiencedNotOld Wed 01-Jan-20 21:29:10

I used to believe that the fairies could make my dreams come true. But then I woke up and started living in the real world.

Yennifer Wed 01-Jan-20 21:22:14

Oh Jeremy Corbyn!

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 21:19:45

quizqueen, the thread was about chanting on NYE.

Move on dear. The election is LONG over

quizqueen Wed 01-Jan-20 21:15:29

Corbyn grew up in a middle class family in a rural 7 bedroom house, was grammar school educated and now lives in the middle of London's homeless in a house worth over a million. Yes, I'm sure he understands the working classes!

I also wonder how many homeless people he has taken into his house and fed on a permanent basis- charity begins at home, doesn't it! There's plenty to choose from on the streets. Perhaps he offers them some salad he has grown.

GagaJo Wed 01-Jan-20 21:13:42

LOL Glad I gave you a laugh.

Norwich is middle class as f***. I'm surprised it was every Labour TBH. I was born there and remember BNP canvassers in the street.
