Hubby and I have just got back from Parliament Square celebrations (stayed longer than planned as the atmosphere was electric!) - We all made so many new friends (both leavers and remainers) - Hellllllo to the "Backing Singers"! grin And Tenby Angels Helllooo - Hopefully we will see some new members joining GN. (I've warned them about the welcoming committee, don't worry). wink
There is definitely a wonderfully, optimistic buzz in the UK!
I love this British wave of positivity.
Reminds me of the Berlin Wall coming down.

Nice to know I'm up to the minute!?

SirChenjin Sat 01-Feb-20 23:57:02

It’s not ‘not PC’ - it’s offensive and no longer appropriate within a clinical setting. The implication from that is it’s been a good few years since you were administering any form of nursing care.

Joelsnan Sat 01-Feb-20 23:56:33

Growstuff
And when and where did you practice nursing?

growstuff Sat 01-Feb-20 23:56:31

PPS. Not that I assume that the people so intoxicated on winning could give a stuff whether you're working for a bot farm :-(

growstuff Sat 01-Feb-20 23:55:22

ananimous How about posting something original? I've seen that meme umpteen times today.

PS. I'm giving you the benefit of assuming that you're not from a bot farm.

Joelsnan Sat 01-Feb-20 23:54:34

SirChenjin
Okay, maybe my terminology re epilepsy sufferers is not currently PC, however when I was a nurse is irrelevant to you or the thread.

Dollymac Sat 01-Feb-20 23:53:43

Austerity Joelsnan, that's the very thing
Populism is a reaction to that

growstuff Sat 01-Feb-20 23:53:21

I'm guessing Joelsnan is a tad out of touch.

ananimous Sat 01-Feb-20 23:52:43

As was pointed out to me recently...

Don't forget that the EU oversaw the era of:-

The rise of food banks
Zero hours contracts
Disability sanctions, and suicides
Homeless stats off the scale
Merkels scheme of cheap, unlimited labour.
Insufficient housing, schools, and hospitals for demand.

Where were, they and their big ideas?
The EU rules only help big business.

But wave a flag in their pretty building and woe betide you.

Evie64 Sat 01-Feb-20 23:49:35

Oh dear, another "handbags at dawn" moment is it? Chill ladies, chill. You're not doing your BP any good now are you?

SirChenjin Sat 01-Feb-20 23:49:25

Joelsnan - NMAHP and medical staff haven’t referred to people with epilepsy as “epileptics” for quite some years now. When were you a nurse?

Nezumi65 Sat 01-Feb-20 23:47:44

In which case you should understand that people die from them & why consistency of supply is so essential

Joelsnan Sat 01-Feb-20 23:45:51

Nezumi65
Have you ever seen a tonic clonic?

Yes, in my nursing days I saw quite a few.

SirChenjin Sat 01-Feb-20 23:44:12

It’s rising across Europe and the US to coincide with a rise in right wing populism, yes.

Nezumi65 Sat 01-Feb-20 23:43:46

Well my son has managed to get the same brand of epilepsy medication every day since he started on that brand.

Have you ever seen a tonic clonic?

Joelsnan Sat 01-Feb-20 23:41:29

Dollymac
I haven't voted for a right wing government, where children are hungry
I haven't voted to see young people sleeping on the streets

If you look you will see that although these are dreadful situations, they are not specific to the UK. Deprivation is rising throughout Europe and the US, hence the rise in populism.

ananimous Sat 01-Feb-20 23:39:25

Exactly my thoughts Joels
Some meds supply has always been a problem it turns out

Nezumi65 Sat 01-Feb-20 23:38:54

Joelsnan - it would mean some people with epilepsy (I haven’t met many who like being called ‘an epileptic) would have seizures when they swap meds and some would die from those seizures.

Nezumi65 Sat 01-Feb-20 23:37:11

I doubt Scottish opinion in 2014 has any relevance to today. I’m sure Scotland would be off if they get Indy ref2 & Northern Ireland (although that will be messy sad )

ananimous Sat 01-Feb-20 23:37:04

Nez
I believe there will be no shortage - so do not think you should worry, though I understand it is hard not to.

Joelsnan Sat 01-Feb-20 23:35:51

Nezumi65
So, does this mean that an epileptic would never be able to emigrate or if the medicines efficacy altered would have to stay on the same brand?
What would happen if there was a worldwide shortage of that particular brand as is currently occurring with some HRT?

Dollymac Sat 01-Feb-20 23:33:35

? it's a word, it's just a word. ..
I haven't voted for a right wing government, where children are hungry
I haven't voted to see young people sleeping on the streets
You could do worse than to use that word, you know, you could vote Tory
Still laughing at 'potty mouth'

SirChenjin Sat 01-Feb-20 23:33:17

You might want to link to something a bit more up to date than that six year old article and get your percentages correct if you want to be taken half seriously.

Nezumi65 Sat 01-Feb-20 23:32:16

The Government has also confirmed that epilepsy medicines will be exempt from its serious shortage protocol. This will give pharmacists power to dispense alternative drugs if those prescribed by GPs are in short supply at any time, including during the possibility of a 'no-deal Brexit' scenario after Britain leaves the EU

Except brand swapping a lot of epilepsy meds increases the risk of seizures.

Notice I am not raising concerns about the other meds my son takes. Epilepsy meds are different.

I believe Scotland should have the right to leave the union as the UK did to leave the EU.

I don't think there is the appetite in Scotland to leave though - polls say 95% Scots are happy in the union. Plus they are too poor for the EU to take them on.
