After the news about Bea and Edo's wedding venue this morning, I was having a quick scan to see what Harry would managed to newsbomb them with. Well it seems they scurried around a bit and finally got themselves into the evening news. Well done Harry and Meghan, don't get caught napping when you have family to compete with for publicity [roll eyes]

Someone has to try and control the media. Or at least certain ‘out of control’ sections of it. I’m talking about those who cater to the needs of the gossip hungry. Tacky magazines and certain unscrupulous newspapers who are only interested in their profit margin and have no scruples.

If the gossips and the needy and the jealous and the gullible stopped buying such tat then there would be no market to cater for.

Yehbutnobut Mon 10-Feb-20 13:42:59

Well Annie thanks for that!

merlotgran Mon 10-Feb-20 13:43:20

But what I do believe is that certain of the media (eg Piers Morgan) have got it in for his wife. And he, being the man that he is, is having none of it.

I do find it hard to understand why Harry thinks leaving the RF is going to solve any of that though.

There was huge support for Meghan at the time of their wedding. Piers Morgan is disliked by many. If others can rise above his arrogance and spite, why not two members of the RF when the Queen is held in higher regard than PM will ever be.

Harry was determined to poke the media with a big stick from Day 1. Not a wise move. Where has it got him exactly? Hopefully not turning into one of those celebs who will turn up to the opening of an envelope so long as there's a cheque involved.

I don't think Meghan ever had any intentions of being apart of anything - other than team Meghan.

Yehbutnobut Mon 10-Feb-20 13:46:17

But Merlot how can H&M ‘rise above’ all the lies and vitriol when it’s clear, from reading many of these posts, that this has been digested and believed by so many.

You believe what you read in the papers.

Jabberwok Mon 10-Feb-20 13:46:31

I totally agree Callistemon! It all started with so much promise that together with William and Katherine, Harry and Meghan would help take the RF into the future as a modern, efficient, popular establishment . This is now a dashed hope and desperately disappointing.

Yehbutnobut Mon 10-Feb-20 13:47:55

And that mock up of Private Eye was a disgrace. Some people will actually think those are actual quotes.

Yehbutnobut Mon 10-Feb-20 13:49:46

Well time to leave this wretched thread peopled by gossipmongers with just a few dissenting voices.

merlotgran Mon 10-Feb-20 13:51:30

You believe what you read in the papers.

You can't possibly know what I do or don't believe Yehbut

I'm quite capable of sorting the wheat from the chaff in my opinion and seeing as opinions are still allowed in this country I'll discuss them.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-20 13:51:53

Harry tried to beat the media when his son was born, he played the same game with them as his mother did

One photograph of them leaving the maternity unit, as William did , would have been sensible but no, he had to
make the announcement that there would be no announcement, then summoned the press to make an
announcement

merlotgran Mon 10-Feb-20 13:53:24

Some people will actually think those are actual quotes.

grin grin grin grin

Greymar Mon 10-Feb-20 13:57:27

maddy, I don't undertand your post.

Anniebach Mon 10-Feb-20 13:58:22

I didn’t read in papers that Harry when in S.A. Walked the walk his mother made years before for the cameras then
complained in an interview how the click of a camera caused him distress.

I didn’t read in the press Megan met S.A. girls who live in a troubled country then in an interview said no one asked her if
she was ok when having a baby.

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-20 14:02:06

Yes Annie and Callistemon, exactly.

I really liked Meghan, was so happy for Harry, especially when she got pregnant. We all knew Harry wanted to settle down and have a family. I loved the wedding, I always enjoy watching royal weddings. Meghan is beautiful and confident, a lovely addition to the royal family. They seem so much in love, it was all good.
But now this. A quiet life out of the sight of the publicity was perfectly possible. Princess Anne has achieved this. Prince Edward has achieved this. We only ever see them on a tiny number of their numerous engagements. As for bad press, well doesn’t anyone remember Waity Katie, not to mention the bad press Camilla received, it was horrific. And Prince Charles, who wanted to be Camilla’s tampon. For goodness sake, how embarrassing was that for them both. Diana was sainted by the press, but hounded unmercifully from when she first started to go out with Prince Charles And it never stopped. What about the bad press for the Queen and Prince Phillip after Diana was killed. The way some people go on about it on here, anyone who didn’t know any better would believe Meghan was the first royal to ever receive some bad press. She should have put on her big girl knickers and as the royals say, never complain, never explain. Just quietly retired from much of public life and built a private life out of sight of the paps. How much intrusion does Princess Anne receive at Gatcombe Park? Answer: none!

Jabberwok Mon 10-Feb-20 14:02:17

Annie is quite right. The only person who deprived P.H of his mother, was - his mother and Dodi Fayed (sp) for going against sensible advice, using a drunk driver, when surely they could have used the duty driver, not wearing seat belts and trying to outrun the PP. Going into an underpass at 70 mph + is courting disaster. Whatever they were thinking of, it certainly wasn't Diana's sons!

Greymar Mon 10-Feb-20 14:03:27

I don't think it is helping anybody bringing up Diana and her awful death. So many errors. To say if she hadn't played the game Harry might have had his mother seems unkind. We just don't know.

Greymar Mon 10-Feb-20 14:04:01

OK, a line had been crossed now. Too much.

suziewoozie Mon 10-Feb-20 14:05:11

Ready leave off attacking Bluebelle. I’m sick to death of this ‘if you don’t like the thread go away’ rubbish. And I disagree that these threads show a dislike of what MM does and not of MM herself. If that were the case, why so much speculation and gossip?

suziewoozie Mon 10-Feb-20 14:06:08

Jabber your post is a (Anglo Saxon word deleted) disgrace

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-20 14:10:23

Greymar, my post that you don’t understand is the one about selling Harry to the highest bidder, I think, correct me if I’m wrong.
I was saying Meghan or her publicity firm have taken the highest amount of money that JP Morgan offered for Harry to speak at their networking conference. I hope that irons out the misunderstanding.

Greymar Mon 10-Feb-20 14:11:34

Ah OK, got it.

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-20 14:12:25

I think you’re enjoying being annoyed Suzie. You seem attracted to the threads about the royals. So are other people, they like to discuss what’s in the news.

suziewoozie Mon 10-Feb-20 14:15:47

Think what you want maddy

suziewoozie Mon 10-Feb-20 14:17:29

News of course being the operative word. The MM threads are based on gossip, misinformation and innuendo that is in the news but rarely based on facts.

maddyone Mon 10-Feb-20 14:21:46

I certainly do think what I want Suzie, despite your efforts to change my mind grin

suziewoozie Mon 10-Feb-20 14:25:11

What on Earth makes you think I want to change your mind? What a very strange idea?
