I am disgusted by the announcement that these two have sacked 15 British members of staff. What are they thinking?
I ask myself 'how would I feel if I'd upped sticks and gone to another country out of loyalty to my employer, only for them to get rid of me 3 months later.
I would be heartbroken and furious.

Oh, I didn’t see her chatting to D of Cam Namsnanny so am sure you’re probably right.
Yes, why don’t they sing up? I assume they have
an Order of Service, so no excuse for not knowing the words.

merlotgran Mon 09-Mar-20 15:42:42

Do you think Harry will miss all this? sad

Calendargirl Mon 09-Mar-20 15:43:49

Summerlove

Not sure what you mean about Camilla wearing navy with other royals there?

Anniebach Mon 09-Mar-20 15:46:01

Sophie chatted to Kate she was sitting directly behind her.

merlot I don’t think Harry will miss it, it does mean Charles
and William will have to do more oversea visits.

Calendargirl Mon 09-Mar-20 15:46:15

I’m going to study Harry as he leaves. Yes, he must have very mixed feelings I’m sure Merlotgran.

maddyone Mon 09-Mar-20 15:50:22

Lucca
I’m not sure if I saw that post, but it wasn’t mine.
Actually I love that record and it was played at my Auntie’s funeral as we all came out. It was so poignant because she loved Roy Orbison and my Uncle adored both her and this song.
Off topic I know, it just reminded me.

Summerlove Mon 09-Mar-20 15:59:23

Calendargirl, One of the criticisms of the Duchess of Sussex a few pages ago was that she wears dark colours around the other royals when she is supposed to wear light bright colors.

Summerlove Mon 09-Mar-20 15:59:40

Colours! Darn it phone

pinkquartz Mon 09-Mar-20 16:07:25

Summerlove
Given posters said how lovely she looks in bright colours I don't know why you are saying the opposite.

Anniebach Mon 09-Mar-20 16:08:24

A lovely service

Calendargirl Mon 09-Mar-20 16:09:36

Oh, I see.

Well, the whole service was pretty colourful!

merlotgran Mon 09-Mar-20 16:11:46

I thought Camilla looked great. I'm a fan of dark colours.

Anniebach Mon 09-Mar-20 16:19:45

Yes, I liked Camilla’s outfit, elegant

Lucca Mon 09-Mar-20 16:26:36

Maddy. Agree it’s a great song !

lemongrove Mon 09-Mar-20 16:30:58

Merlot I don’t think Harry will miss any of the royal duties (other than it involved the military) presumably it’s what he wants to get away from.
However I do think he will miss his wider family more than he realised when planning the jump to Canada.
He may well miss the bowing and scraping as well, which he is used to.

Namsnanny Mon 09-Mar-20 16:33:17

I understood the royal women had a 'preview' (description or sketch?) of the others outfits before the day. So they didn't clash.
Presumably, it would follow protocol eg, Queen first choice, Kate next etc.,
If this is the case outfits are decided a good deal of time in advance. No chance of upstaging I would have thought.

I see your point now Summerlove … yes odd, I always thought the dark colour thing was a no no where royals were concerned.

Anniebach Mon 09-Mar-20 16:33:33

Harry was very close to Beatrice and Eugenie

Anniebach Mon 09-Mar-20 16:35:01

Queen first choice, Camilla second choice ?

Minshy Mon 09-Mar-20 16:36:22

This will end in tears I’m afraid.
Megan is a forceful woman and I think Harry is out of his depth .

Namsnanny Mon 09-Mar-20 16:48:23

Anyone notice Harry fist pumping (well nearly) to show he is 'down with the kids', 'what ho!' ?

Sorry, I think I've been over influenced by 'The Windsors' on TV grin hope you get my SOH.

I like the royals, well who would we have in their place?
It would be some nose-in-the-trough knitwit (like Baroness Scotland ….but that's another thread)
So on balance I'd rather it be them.

But all this 'call-me-Dave' nonsense is frustrating
hypocritical and self deluding.

I'm ducking back behind the sofa now, so bombs away people!

Suppose they're off for a posh nosh now, and a wave goodbye to H&M.

Bridgeit Mon 09-Mar-20 16:51:12

I wonder what the Suffergettes would have had to say if they could hear/ read of the concerns of a group of women worrying that some other woman may have worn a dress that clashed with a dress worn by another woman !

Namsnanny Mon 09-Mar-20 16:51:28

Yes you're right Anniebach Camilla next, if indeed they do plan clothing for important events.

I would take a guess they do, because it would be silly to botch an occasion just for the sake of a little planning ahead.

Namsnanny Mon 09-Mar-20 16:57:22

Well Bridgeit … colours and how to wear them were very important to the Suffragettes wernt they? The choice of purple for example and what garments were to be made in those colours (sash hatband ect.,)
So to answer your question I should have thought they would have joined in wholeheartedly.

But the discussion on this thread hasn't actually done anything more than a thousand magazines and articles out on the newspapers shelves as we speak.
Which will show how much influence and money the royal choice of clothing brings into this country alone.

Bridgeit Mon 09-Mar-20 17:00:28

Yes indeed but not for the same purpose.

Grandma70s Mon 09-Mar-20 17:03:36

I watch these things for the music and costumes, a bit like going to the theatre. Catherine looked wonderful, but then she is the right height and build to show off clothes.

Such a variety of music, from the Abbey choir singing exquisitely to people mumbling or shouting into microphones (luckily there is a mute button). Something for everybody. William and Catherine actually opened their mouths a bit and clearly knew the words. Even the Queen opened her mouth! If I was in charge of a school attending a televised service I’d make sure they knew all the words of all the hymns, so they didn’t look silly. To be fair, most of the children appeared to.
