I am disgusted by the announcement that these two have sacked 15 British members of staff. What are they thinking?
I ask myself 'how would I feel if I'd upped sticks and gone to another country out of loyalty to my employer, only for them to get rid of me 3 months later.
I would be heartbroken and furious.

Was reading comments of William and Kate in Ireland, so
positive. Kate was described as a new Jackie Kennedy , Megs, criticised , an American agreed with the criticisms !

MerylStreep Thu 05-Mar-20 15:34:47

As we all know Spitting Image is coming back so obviously Megan and Harry will feature.
This got me to thinking about all the merchandise that came from that program.
Do you think that Megan and Harry will buy the mugs to put on their website.
Maybe not ?

GracesGranMK3 Thu 05-Mar-20 15:40:28

Goodness me GracesGran don’t you read the political threads? The condescending, sneering comments on there towards other members from certain quarters are numerous.

Not sure why that is relevant to a quotation about gossip and libel tickingbird. As has been said before, we are a country of many different cultures. I truly don't understand why those gossiping have no shame for doing it especially with the recent suicide.

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 15:48:47

Gossip . No, opinions ? Yes

MerylStreep Thu 05-Mar-20 15:56:16

Gracesgran
I thought you weren't going to associate with this mean spirited thread anymore

Bridgeit Thu 05-Mar-20 16:01:59

Quote for the day :
Your idea in your head is an opinion, but when it leaves your mouth ( or keyboard) it is gossip .

Chestnut Thu 05-Mar-20 16:03:02

I have seen a lot of threads much more 'mean spirited' than this one and GracesGran has posted enthusiastically on those. Not sure why this one has suddenly become the target of Bible quotations.

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 16:03:32

So Bridgeit you are gossiping?

Bridgeit Thu 05-Mar-20 16:06:11

No Annie, quoting ?

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 16:06:16

I am now confused, an opinion of a politician or a royal or
a poster if typed and posted on this forum, it’s gossip ?

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 16:08:38

Quoting ? . Then it isn’t gossiping to post anything one reads
or hears because it’s quoting

Bridgeit Thu 05-Mar-20 16:08:41

Yes I guess the quote implies that once you have shared an opinion as opposed to a fact it becomes gossip.

merlotgran Thu 05-Mar-20 16:09:51

Just looked up the definition of forum: Just in case I've been missing the point.

A facility to meet for open discussion (the italics are mine)

So, that's OK then so long as we are all of the same opinion and nobody is put out by a bit of gossip creeping in which is bound to happen when discussing something that's already in the public domain. hmm

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 16:15:50

Then Bridgeit we can be reassured you will be posting on
every post on every thread you read - fact or gossip.

Bridgeit Thu 05-Mar-20 16:17:01

??

Bridgeit Thu 05-Mar-20 16:17:55

It would be a fact that I had posted, but the post may not necessarily be a fact .

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 16:20:50

So those who say there are racist comments about Megs are gossiping

maddyone Thu 05-Mar-20 16:23:03

Well gossip or not, I think that William and Catherine are representing the country very well whilst they’re in Ireland. I have formed this opinion from watching the news and online pictures of them.

Bridgeit Thu 05-Mar-20 16:23:19

I suppose One would have to read up on what constitutes a racist , and or offensive remark .

maddyone Thu 05-Mar-20 16:25:20

Annie
Gossip or opinion, it doesn’t matter, but what are missing from those who claim racism against Meghan, are facts.

Anniebach Thu 05-Mar-20 16:27:41

True maddy

Summerlove Thu 05-Mar-20 16:43:49

I find this thread fascinating. Some posters say that Meghan was welcomed with open arms and has basically giving everybody two fingers. Others say that well we’ve just been proven right that she was just a social climber.

Obviously she wasn’t welcome with open arms it’s so many are willing to say that she is just a social climber

maddyone Thu 05-Mar-20 16:44:58

Apparently Dickie Arbiter, who is the Queen’s former press secretary, has said that if H+M don’t bring Archie to see his family in Britain, and with Prince Philip in very poor health at the moment (he apparently said PP is not expected to live for much longer, and therefore clearly it could be PP’s last opportunity to see Archie) then they are being spiteful. He also said that Meghan is the leader and makes the decisions.
I would agree with him.

maddyone Thu 05-Mar-20 16:48:05

Summerlove
I think some of Meghan’s ex friends and her family have claimed she is a social climber. If you saw the footage of Meghan meeting the crowds when she first did royal engagements, it is clear that the British people welcomed her with open arms and enthusiasm.

merlotgran Thu 05-Mar-20 16:53:27

When Meghan arrived on the scene I thought she was beautiful, stylish, a supposedly talented actress although I'd never seen her and a confident speaker. In short, an asset to the RF. Her solo walk into St. George's chapel was breathtaking. Harry looked happy and obviously head over heels in love.

What could possibly go wrong? grin
