In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands.
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “

So peoples fathers fought in the war?!!! My father aged 28 was killed in the war a month before I was born! He was shot down and was burnt to death along with his compatriots. They were buried, (curiously by the Germans with full military honours) on Xmas Eve in The Netherlands where they are still regarded as hero's by the local population. I don't resent the RF,their position or their wealth , Calling Prince Phillip Phil the Greek is so childish and plain stupid, (as is calling the Queen Lizzie,) particularly as PP was a Prince of Greece and Denmark until his marriage to HM. If you must be insulting at least get the title correct!

maddyone Sat 28-Mar-20 16:10:18

Annie you’re right, history is so interesting, I’ve always found it to be so.
But Queen Elizabeth is no more responsible for what Henry the eighth did than I am for the banning of Welsh being spoken in Welsh schools. Quite rightfully children are now being taught to speak Welsh again. Everyone has a right to their own culture and that means speaking their own language.
Incidentally one of my grandparents was Welsh. But I don’t speak Welsh.

Greymar Sat 28-Mar-20 16:15:38

How can somebody who isn't really that fussed about the RF be "a republican". They could just be rather disinterested.

I quite like looking at the clothes, shallow I know. Beyond that, I don't like the various hangers on. One or 2 of them are OK.

Ellianne Sat 28-Mar-20 16:29:18

I'm guessing if Meghan had come out with the truth to begin with - I want to be a famous Hollywood actress so am bagging myself Prince Harry to get there - the Queen would never have allowed the marriage to go ahead. Some would say they could see it as she walked up the aisle in St. George's Chapel or even in the clingy engagement pictures, but we always like to give people a fair chance in the hope they are not manipulating the situation. I feel sad we, and the Queen, were all used.

SueDonim Sat 28-Mar-20 16:42:43

Phil the greek. Pigment-wise? shock

Jabberwok Sat 28-Mar-20 17:01:45

We certainly were Ellianne! Sadly.

Boz Sat 28-Mar-20 17:08:26

I do wonder if she is one of those women who are actively disliked by other women. A lot of us took one look at the film star engagement shots and took against her. Irrationally, I wholly dislike them both and pray for their disappearance from the public eye with as little of our money as possible.

Anniebach Sat 28-Mar-20 17:09:36

The use of Phil the Greek explains much

Anniebach Sat 28-Mar-20 17:11:14

I took a dislike when I saw the arm clinging and the solitary
walk down the aisle.

TerriBull Sat 28-Mar-20 17:13:29

It seems Canada have also fallen out of love with the pair. Camilla Tominey writes in today's Telegraph "Canadians are also up in arms, accusing them of using the Commonwealth country as a "smokescreen" for their long planned assault on America. Some are now starting to question whether they ever had any intention of supporting Queen and Commonwealth, or always had their sights firmly fixed on Hollywood."

trisher Sat 28-Mar-20 17:17:48

I realised the other day that Kate reminds me of a Stepford Wife! Presumably Meghan got out before they had finished her replica.

Anniebach Sat 28-Mar-20 17:29:45

Kate has dignity, poor Megan lacks it. I have never met a
Stepford Wife, thought they were fiction

maddyone Sat 28-Mar-20 17:44:14

Ellianne.
Absolutely correct, I agree with you. I thought she behaved differently perhaps than others, but thought that maybe as she came from a different culture, it was perhaps just cultural differences. The first time the penny dropped was when I realised the cruel treatment of her father. I simply couldn’t, and still can’t, understand how a normal daughter could behave in that way towards her own father. She has been appallingly cruel towards him, and her behaviour towards both her own family, and Harry and his family, shows a level of narcissistic behaviour that is quite blatant. My opinion only.

Anniebach Sat 28-Mar-20 17:56:53

Terri she married a director , got a part in a tv series, dumped the director, marries Harry and heads for Hollywood,
after writing on a few bananas.

Chestnut Sat 28-Mar-20 18:12:22

Wow, this scathing article pretty much sums up the way many people feel about Meghan: The Final Megxit
And it has nothing to do with the colour of her skin!

trisher Sat 28-Mar-20 18:15:41

Actually he's not a director he's a producer. He had nothng to do with 'Suits' the TV series and they split partly because she was working in Toronto and he was living in LA.

SueDonim Sat 28-Mar-20 18:27:44

It does indeed, Anniebach, (Your post of 17:09).

Ellianne Sat 28-Mar-20 18:32:25

Chestnut that is a brilliant article! I had to laugh about the NHS Instagram post being like a note left for the cleaner. It was said she used to send email messages to her staff at 5 am so she has had plenty of practice in churning out silly comments.
Interesting also that Harry could come unstuck in America with his Sussex title in three years time, but will they still be together then anyway?

trisher Sat 28-Mar-20 18:35:01

Phil the Greek was coined by royal courtiers when he first proposed to Elizabeth.

maddyone Sat 28-Mar-20 18:39:53

Gosh, it certainly does Chestnut.

maddyone Sat 28-Mar-20 18:42:42

I thought that was very interesting Ellianne , he will have to give up his title if he becomes a US citizen. What about her though, how is she allowed to keep her title if it’s not allowed in the US?

Anniebach Sat 28-Mar-20 18:51:25

Realy trisher so Phil The Greek is acceptable after 70 years,
but the ‘n’ word isn’t, a child born out side of a marriage isn’t
called a bastard, suppose some still use such words and some
defend them using them.

cupaffull Sat 28-Mar-20 18:53:30

What has happened to the darling of the public? When that little boy was pictured walking behind his mothers coffin, we'd have subsequently forgiven him almost anything.
In every photo recently PH is seen looking down at the floor. So saaaad!

SueDonim Sat 28-Mar-20 19:04:05

Language has moved on since the 1940’s, Trisher. Lots of terms then are not acceptable now.

lilypollen Sat 28-Mar-20 19:08:35

There has been a lot of heartfelt emotion for the princes since 1997. Harry has traded that for a woman with previous in upheaval of family ties. I think she had a fair idea of what she was getting herself into and had her own future plan in place especially once there was a child. I also thought that the States was off limits to her whilst Trump is President!!
