In this morning’s DT
THE Duke of Sussex has been duped into speaking about his decision to quit the Royal Family by hoaxers pretending to be Greta Thunberg, it was claimed last night.
The Duke was pranked by Russian jokers who convinced him he was speaking to the teenage climate activist and her father, according to The Sun. He alluded to tensions between his wife and himself, and the rest of the Royal family and also criticised Donald Trump, who he said “has blood on his hands.
The two phone calls were reportedly made to the Duke at his rented home on Vancouver Island, Canada, on New Year’s Eve and January 22, by Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus
Do you all remember how “Sheik gate” put an end to Sophie Wessex’s career plans? I fear that without the protection of a Royal Press Officer Harry risks being a bit of “an innocent abroad “

Maddyone..... British culture ? For example ? Or do you mean royal family «culture». And in point of fact what was it that this terrible woman failed to accept «culture wise?
Do not accuse me by the way of defending her’ how could I do that when I don’t know her

jabberwok You ask «Incidentally what was all that white wedding dress about?!!!« Why would she not wear a white dress ? (Stunning it was too). Imagine the outcry if she had worn a different colour

It won’t matter what she tries to do to fit in, ( what ever that really means, ) she will never be accepted by some & some will never ever let go of this particular dog & bone.

maddyone Wed 01-Apr-20 18:52:06

Lucca
You have indeed heard it all. But it has been suggested that British culture should have bent to American culture, hence beef burgers and fries. Of course it’s ridiculous, it was meant to be ridiculous. If a person marries into a different culture from their own and goes to live in that different culture, whoever they are, they should make an effort to adapt. Of course there’ll always be differences, that’s part of the charm, but nonetheless the person should make some effort to fit in.

maddyone Wed 01-Apr-20 18:47:03

Greymar
I think she’s vegan maybe so no beef burgers grin

Lucca Wed 01-Apr-20 18:46:01

* Or that the Queen should have offered Meghan beef burgers and fries rather than afternoon tea?*

I’ve heard it all now. How do you get to that one????

Greymar Wed 01-Apr-20 18:44:10

What is the culture of a British Muslim?

GagaJo Wed 01-Apr-20 18:44:01

Couldn’t agree more trisher. When I want to the US as a very young bride, I retained my Englishness. Style, habits, cooking. Only my MiL had an issue with it.

And maddyone, MM is a whole food/clean eating type. Exactly like Kate. Not so different.

maddyone Wed 01-Apr-20 18:43:34

.....it’s not unusual for people to find differences difficult to adapt to........And why the hell should you put up with it?

A selfish and entitled view. No, don’t try to accommodate differences, why the hell should you?

Greymar Wed 01-Apr-20 18:43:25

I think she's vegan maybe so no beefburgers.

Greymar Wed 01-Apr-20 18:42:31

What is British Culture?

maddyone Wed 01-Apr-20 18:40:16

Summerlove it is interesting indeed that you have turned the situation on it’s head. And so I will ask you, if you were visiting Jerusalem for example, would you remain respectful to the ultra orthodox Jewish community and dress respectfully whilst there as a visitor to their country?
If visiting a mosque would you wear respectful clothes or wear a strappy top and shorts?
If visiting a synagogue would your partner/ husband wear a kippah?
If Jewish or Muslim friends came to your house for dinner, would you cook pork for them?
Are you suggesting that Meghan had no need to try to fit in with the prevailing culture? Or that the Queen should have offered Meghan beef burgers and fries rather than afternoon tea?

trisher Wed 01-Apr-20 18:38:37

maddyone firstly the RF are not 'British culture'. I don't expect my DIL to curtsey to me, nor would I complain if she crossed her legs and my GCs fate is decided by their parents and not their GGM. The RF live as I have already said a 19th century lifestyle that most people would think weird.
As for Muslim culture in the first place it isn't a single culture it is a religion and practices differ according to the region of origin. If I did marry into a Muslim family I would accept traditions I agreed with but I certainly wouldn't accept the restrictions some versions put upon women.

Bridgeit Wed 01-Apr-20 18:32:55

Sadly yes , Gaunt ,I will try to behave?

Gaunt47 Wed 01-Apr-20 18:24:07

Bridgeit - you know there'll be another similar thread don't you? grin

Summerlove Wed 01-Apr-20 18:16:05

do you respect the culture of ethnic minorities here in Britain? I wager my house you do. You will be respectful if you enter the house of a Muslim family and in doing so, you will remove your shoes. I always did when it was part of my role when I was working. Why therefore, would you not expect Meghan to respect British culture?

This is an interesting example

Surely, in this case, meghan would be the minority though, not the british public? So, her culture should have been respected, and not expected to change?

maddyone Wed 01-Apr-20 18:08:37

trisher you have not answered! Do you or do you not respect the culture of others who are not British? And if you do, please explain why you have made it abundantly clear to us all that Meghan should have no respect for British culture. You made the comment, please now answer the question.

Ilovecheese Wed 01-Apr-20 18:01:32

142?

Anniebach Wed 01-Apr-20 18:00:27

Here we go .

Seems Harry and Megan are looking at a mansion in the same area Diana was going to live .

How do we know Diana was going to live there ? An interview
with toad Burrell in 2003, Diana showed him the mansion she
and Dodi Fayed were going to live in with her sons !

He must have forgotten the reason she stayed with Fayed and
met Dodi Fayed was because she wanted to holidayed with her
sons in America with a very wealthy American she had met ,
she was not allowed to take her sons there for security reasons.

We can only hope we don’t have toad Burrell back on tv. yuck.

trisher Wed 01-Apr-20 17:54:16

Amazing how many know exactly what happened and why. It's also a bit illogical to complain that someone didn't fit in and then complain because they get out. There were lots of complaints about the amount they cost in the beginning now it seems they fleeced the RF. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Bridgeit Wed 01-Apr-20 17:37:41

We cannot Know the truth,
We can have observations & opinions , but they don’t have to be so spiteful do they ?

Jabberwok Wed 01-Apr-20 17:32:06

No slag offs! Sadly the truth which if we're honest we all know!

Bridgeit Wed 01-Apr-20 17:31:49

147 now.

Jabberwok Wed 01-Apr-20 17:30:27

She was hardly a naive young girl, she was 36 with a marriage and a long term relationship behind her. She'd worked in the film industry and must have been just just a little bit streetwise! Starry eyed!!! Incidentally what was all that white wedding dress about?!!! When my daughter remarried she wore a very pretty !lilac dress, the ceremony was in the registry office with a church blessing afterwards. My mother ditto except as a widow she was able to marry in church both times, but not in white the second time!

Bridgeit Wed 01-Apr-20 17:24:50

Thank goodness this thread is nearing 1000, only 148 slag offs to go ( Ohhps sorry comments & opinions)

Anniebach Wed 01-Apr-20 17:17:40

She stayed in this country, lived with Harry at Kensington
Palace before they married. And she didn’t know how the firm
worked ?

She wanted the star role not a supporting role.
