Please does anybody know.

Realistically I think we should expect restrictions to last 3 months, longer that that will cause major problems, the country will run out of money. Nobody is paying bills, one guy I spoke to today said he was cancelling direct debits, the government has only announced loans to companies that will need to be repaid. That is dependent on companies having security for the loan, with no cash flow that is uncertain, because if one company goes bankrupt their debtors are also affected.

So many companies are foreign owned, they are going to look after home interests and sacrifice overseas businesses first. It’s all very well saying we can borrow to keep going, who from?, all nations are affected.

Don't let it get to you Greymar. For some of us this turned into an interesting discussion.

Greymar Mon 30-Mar-20 09:56:55

I'm off here for a break. I can't tell you how upset I am this morning. I come accross as a bit silly sometimes but its an act. I pm people, I am kind to those I see struggling.

So good luck to you with your sniping.

Dr Fauci said that Trump has to be told something 4 times before he takes it on board. I expect there are many people who need to be told something multiple times. Sadly MrN is one now.

Marydoll Mon 30-Mar-20 09:23:23

I agree, Ellianne, the message obviously hasn't been heard by all those irresponsible people ignore the advice.?
They are putting others at risk.

Ellianne Mon 30-Mar-20 09:19:32

Hetty you're right to an extent, but having spent my days addressing all manner of people, I believe you have to repeat information over and over for it to sink in. It's like learning a new language, the first time you hear a new word you are unlikely to remember it, so it needs to be used and repeated several times before it becomes part of your brain so to speak.

Marydoll Mon 30-Mar-20 09:13:58

Greymar, take care.?

Greymar Mon 30-Mar-20 09:12:05

Lets clear this up and then time for a break. Nobody ( unless you are pming to and fro) knows what a person is going through.

I asked a simple question. Due to circumstances which I won't go into, I have memory problems. I genuinely didn't know if there was a briefing.

The comment about the watch was ill advised. I was surprised to see it as I have read advice to keep hands free of any jewelry.

I think there are at least 2 responses to this which are based on some sort of dislike of "me".

As you wish. Have a nice day, stay safe.

Hetty58 Mon 30-Mar-20 08:58:59

How much information (or repeats of) do people really need? Surely, we've all got the message and are isolating, social distancing etc.

There's not much point in speculation about how long it will last.

I'm just gobsmacked, though, by people even suggesting a possibility of 'back to normal' before next spring!

Ellianne Mon 30-Mar-20 08:49:56

Yes, Marydoll, there are some very articulate, calm women giving us the information we need at this time. Their ability to answer some of the journalists' daft questions is brilliant. Have you noticed how Laura K has already prepared her questions in advance and despite having had them answered in the briefing she insists on asking them? I for one would roll my eyes!

GracesGranMK3 Mon 30-Mar-20 08:41:34

That's not really the point, is it?

Oopsadaisy3 Mon 30-Mar-20 08:38:30

At the bottom of the previous page Greymar has just admitted that she asked the question in the OP

‘Just for a laugh’

.????

GracesGranMK3 Mon 30-Mar-20 08:37:20

Why on earth are some of you being so unkind to Greymar? It's perfectly possible to miss the announcements for one reason or another and perfectly reasonable to ask for an update.

Marydoll Mon 30-Mar-20 08:34:30

I don't know if anyone has seen the Scottish Chief Medical officer on TV, she is outstanding!

vampirequeen Mon 30-Mar-20 08:12:19

A couple of days ago Gransnet bosses asked people to avoid attacking others so why is Greymar being attacked for asking a simple question. I missed the briefing too because I was asleep at the time.

Gingster Sun 29-Mar-20 22:47:07

I bet you wish you hadn’t asked ?

MawB Sun 29-Mar-20 22:38:47

But the added “Great” Greymar - tempted to say “So what?”
Does it really matter? If not, why comment?

growstuff Sun 29-Mar-20 22:28:15

There is no official advice against wearing watches and bracelets.

Anniebach Sun 29-Mar-20 22:19:00

The news reader on BBC. News is wearing a watch and a
braclet

Ellianne Sun 29-Mar-20 22:10:35

Listening to all this again on 10 o'clock news it isn't really new news, they've been pretty much saying this all along. Maybe repetition helps the information sink in but would it make more sense to have a briefing every other day from now on?

Greymar Sun 29-Mar-20 21:59:02

No cheap jibe, a comment on a watch.

Patsy70 Sun 29-Mar-20 21:56:07

I am also very impressed with Jenny Harries and really object to the cheap jibes people make.

Greymar Sun 29-Mar-20 21:48:56

There’s an announcement every day Greymar, didn’t you know that?

Yes, I knew, I thought I'd just ask for a laugh.

Ellianne Sun 29-Mar-20 21:44:56

I understood it that it would take the UK 6 months to get back to normal, not that lockdown would last for 6 months. Many reports are misconstruing her words. It is my guess there will be a phased re introduction and maybe school children will be allowed out of lockdown first. The older generation may well be left until last! shock

You can always get updates on Covid, here:
www.gov.uk/coronavirus

In order not to promulgate false information and make the situation worse, for yourself and everyone else, try to get information ONLY from websites you know are accurate, authentic and reliable.

All else, including newspaper reports, is dross.
