PMQs

“The commons was transformed from a bear pit to a courtroom yesterday, when the government’s junior barrister was faced with a top QC.
No contest - master versus pupil.

What Starmer brings to the post is intelligence and a forensic attention to detail. Neither does he raise his voice or get rattled, rather he adapts his tone to the occasion.

He was near tone perfect.”

John Crace

I don’t like Corbyn or Starmer nor Johnson. In fact there are No policies or Politicians I feel I can vote for anymore. I am not and never will be a socialist and I can no longer support BoJo. So I am now a disenfranchised “none of the above” I’m awaiting a decent right of centre party I can trust to lend my support to. I’m old fashioned I believe politicians are there to serve their constituents not make up policy for themselves - so if there’s a party that wants to give people a fair wage even in retirement, complete Brexit, put our safety first before money or politics. Does not tolerate criminals, does not plunder their citizens via taxes or inheritance penalisation and deals with the disadvantaged with compassion and aid, whilst expecting them to contribute, and does not want to sell us out to the Chinese, the USA or Europe and does not want to Govern as they want “Power” but rather because they want to improve All their citizens lot, I’m waiting..........

The policy of never interrupting your enemy when he is making huge mistakes is so clever.

Starmer is good.

Alishka Thu 21-May-20 20:36:11

Keir Starmer's really shining through, isn't he? At last, a Shepherd to bring this errant lamb (that'd be me,btwwink), back into the fold. A joy to listen to and superb today at PQT.

MaizieD Thu 21-May-20 20:31:35

Certainly a functioning opposition. After yesterday's PMQs, guess what?

The NHS surcharge for immigrants is to be lifted for all NHS and care workers.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52761052

All credit to Keir Starmer for raising the issue, don't you think?

Pathetic capitulation on Johnson's part, though. He couldn't see anything wrong with it. It took someone with decency and a sense of fairness to point out how wrong it was. And, I suspect that much of the country was in agreement with Starmer...

The brother of a friend of Dominic Cummings.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-20 19:36:33

dinahmo he rarely answers the questions, and when he does he usually lies

Dinahmo Thu 21-May-20 19:20:42

Nor did he answer the questions put to him by KS.

It would appear that the app used on the Isle of Wight wasn't all singing and dancing. I believe the company is owned by the brother of Dominic Cummings.

????

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-20 18:41:07

And that was after Johnson prepared for PMQs!!

He isn’t very good is he?

MaizieD Thu 21-May-20 18:40:13

I thought that Johnson seemed more 'prepared' this week. He spouted off loads of figures (not just the immigrants' charge one). I expect that's why we didn't see much of him in the days between PMQs. He was learning figures off by heart.

Trouble was, they didn't really have much to do with the answers...

MaizieD Thu 21-May-20 18:35:22

That £900 million is apparently the figure for 4 years of charges to all immigrants. Health Service workers actually contribute about 10%.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-20 18:17:38

Patel on twitter has talked about the wonderful NHS staff and their extraordinary contribution.

Tell me, weren’t they contributing yesterday when they announced the intention to charge them?

What an evil lot they are.

varian Thu 21-May-20 18:16:59

The amount was approximately right for four years contributions.

BJ couldn't bring himself to utter a truth, his instinct is always to lie, or if he can't get away with an out and out lie, to embroider the truth.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-20 17:48:29

Nor reviewed received

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-20 17:47:54

And of course true to form Johnson lied about the level of income that is reviewed from the immigrant fee. He stated £900million. It was found to come nowhere near that amount.

Apparently he was much more prepared this week for PMQs ????

Galaxy Thu 21-May-20 17:44:18

An effective opposition. Thank god.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 21-May-20 17:39:56

After Starmer’s clear criticism of the intention of charging low skilled immigrant NHS workers, Johnson has u-turned today after huge criticism on the media etc.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 19-May-20 07:42:54

Keir Starmer has met the Labour Jewish Movement.

The first time a labour leader has done so for 6 years.

Various rules and cultural practices are being changed in order to sort out the issue relating to anti-Semitic charges in the Labour Party.

Very true Jabberwok, very true indeed.

I have been working fourteen days on the trot from home and today I am trying to grab a few hours off. Therfore winding down a bit, I do not think my brain is engaging properly at the minute.

My wife is the same I think. She said a few minutes back "if we are both not working today we could go out for tea to somewhere nice. To which I replied, WHERE. ?

Jabberwok Mon 18-May-20 12:24:09

Moral of that is, "First things first"! as my mother used to say!

Grandad1943 Mon 18-May-20 09:55:19

Sorry my above post was meant for our family WhatsApp page.

Trying to work to forums at once.?

Grandad1943 Mon 18-May-20 09:53:43

There is a person on a forum I frequent who has been told to report back to work from this coming Wednesday. He is saying that he now feels like he will be going away on holiday on that day.

Grandad1943 Mon 18-May-20 09:15:02

growstuff in regard to your post @08:53 today, I believe if you read my post of 08:30 thoroughly you will witness that I have not told anyone with preferences to an alternative political party other than Labour how to organise that party.

What I have stated, was to encourage those, such as yourself, to engage with the LibDem Party, to which they held such fervour prior to the last general election, and assist in sorting out the obvious real problems within that party.

Perhaps it is that many LibDem supposed supporters hold no real core political beliefs whatsoever and are just flip-floppers" with whichever way the wind is blowing values.
