William and Harry would have spent Christmas with their cousins Peter and Zara who were their age and saw frequently . They rarely saw the cousins on their mother’s side as she kept falling out with their parents, her siblings.

By the time they went on holiday with the Fayeds the boys were 15 and 13 so probably asking for what they wanted. What they never had a choice about was Christmas in Scotland. How many would let their children spend every Christmas with their husband's mother? And yes it may be a tradition, but it was absolutely harmful to them and not what is usually permitted in divorces. And no matter if you think she has or hasn't exercised it the monarch has legal responsibility for all royal children. As an American M must have been shocked when she realised this.

I have always been happy to give Meghan the benefit of the doubt wether she was a good match for Harry. She was in a “win, win” position, either they fitted in with the cosseted Royal lifestyle, or if it didn’t work out she and any kids would live comfortable lives elsewhere. We haven’t reached that point yet, they are still together but win or loose, the court case put a big strain on the relationship.

To favour a republic is a very valid point Grany but equally so is favouring a monarchy. Both are opinions that posters can quite legitimately hold. However those who favour a republic or a monarchy are perfectly entitled to hold and express opinions about people in the royal family. Meghan was only paid $30,000 per episode and the main characters $100,000 per episode so presumably she wasn’t quite the star of the show. In the circles she moved in a 40 year old woman with minimal talent is not going to get where MM thought she deserved to be.

When MM first appeared I read an article by a friend who claimed she had quite openly used people to introduce her to a wealthier set then dumped the old friends. She also said that MM deliberately got involved with charity work in the USA as a way to meet billionaires at functions. She suggested to this friend she did the same. At the time I assumed it was sour grapes but now I think differently.

I don't know what all the fus is about M&H they are not kids. I read the politics thread thanks. I am able to have opinions of my own. She has built a career and made money from it. That is an achievement. Whst do people usually mean by achievements. I would say my achievements are things I have done in my career, raising my children, so she has similar achievements to me, she just has a younger child.

merlotran if you are prepared to criticise someone without investigating them and finding out what has happened in their lives that is up to you. Personally I like to know what I am talking about and not depend on the opinion of the Daily Mail which has cast M as the dark destroyer of the RF.
