Will he resign?

News breaking tonight that Dominic Cummings and his wife, when ill with Covid-19, put their child in the car and drove 260 miles from London to Durham so that they could isolate at his parent's place and his parents look after the child. This happened some time after 27th March. Remember lockdown was imposed on 23rd March.

Seen in his parent's garden with his child on 5th April.

Neil Fergusson resigned because his lover visited his house after lockdown.

Scotland's Chief Medical Officer had to resign after visiting her second home twice after lockdown.

Cummings and his wife drive 260 miles to stay with his parents (who must be in their 60s at the very least)... What will he do?

Story is in most of the MSM now.

That's a lot of whataboutery.

GGumteenth Sun 24-May-20 17:56:21

Everyone who followed these guidelines - which was the entire the country - can’t be wrong.

Of course the majority can be wrong - although I am not saying they are/were whatever. Just think back a little Whitewave.

IT ISNT GOSSIP IT IS FACT.

The police gave the possibility of accident as one of the reasons we should stay in Our home.

Fennel Sun 24-May-20 17:57:12

I ask again - what hold does DC have over this govt. to get away with the things he does?

Nannatwiglet Sun 24-May-20 17:57:13

As I mentioned on another thread....why didn’t the Cummings get childcare help and advice within their local area?

Boris’s 5pm statement was so embarrassing to watch...

Goodbyetoallthat Sun 24-May-20 17:57:58

Well as long as we act "instinctively" that is ok. What an insult to all of us who have "obeyed" the rules.

Barmeyoldbat Sun 24-May-20 17:58:01

Well I just hope that not only Boris and Cummings are hanging their heads in shame over the lies and cover up but all those who support them.
This is the green light for everyone who is worried over a child to meet up and even go to 2nd homes. Well done Boris.

It is becoming more and more obvious each time Johnson appears why he avoids appearing anywhere like the plague.

Nandalot Sun 24-May-20 18:02:28

I love the Led by Donkeys protest. They have stationed a van playing Boris’s Stay at Home message outside the house of Dominic Cummings.

Jishere Sun 24-May-20 18:02:29

Oh dear I can't believe the examples you have used Ggumteeth in your debate. Of course you have a right to your opinion but you are not backing it up with any good examples just a dogged determination to win your case for defence.??

wendyann23 Sun 24-May-20 18:03:02

Truly disgusted. Really thought Boris was going to do the right thing. Lost all respect for him. Who is in charge? Boris or unelected Dominic Cummings?

Watching Johnson. This is despicable. Parents all over this country have abided by the lockdown rules, even while ill themselves. Hundreds of thousands managed toddlers while shut up inside cramped accommodation, purely for the common good AS THE GOVERNMENT TOLD THEM TO DO.

Greeneyedgirl Sun 24-May-20 18:03:20

Don't just complain on here, write and let your MP know how you feel.

It is just unbelievable that Cummings couldn't have obtained help locally, it just smacks of hypocrisy and privilege.

GGumteenth Sun 24-May-20 18:04:33

And I am most certainly not a Tory.

This is a national situation and I am quite prepared for them to be torn apart for their failings over much of what they did or didn't do re the pandemic.

That is nothing to do with the manhunt we have here. Indeed I might say that I wish we did have something I feel he could be made to resign on. I do not believe this is that case.

vegansrock Sun 24-May-20 18:07:09

So if we think we might or might not be ill and we think we may or may not need childcare we can travel the length of the country to stay with family . Good.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 24-May-20 18:07:53

As someone just said

Johnson has gone full-scale Trump

silverlining48 Sun 24-May-20 18:08:06

I wrote to my MP yesterday. Apparently many did and that is probably the reason why so many last minute Tory MPs came out from beneath the parapet. It’s not too late and easy to email, just google location and up comes the name and email address of the MP.

Greeneyedgirl Sun 24-May-20 18:08:47

It's really quite clear. Be Alert and use you instincts. What's not to understand??

GGumteenth Sun 24-May-20 18:09:51

Whitewavemark2 Sun 24-May-20 17:52:13
No it didn’t. On March 27th the guidance was that if you had symptoms you did not leave your HOME under any circumstances

So perhaps you would like to show us where it said that in March Whitewave?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 24-May-20 18:11:29

Love the quote by Johnson.

“Cummings was doing what any good father would do”

I assume he is excepting himself from that quote?

GGumteenth Sun 24-May-20 18:12:27

Johnson has gone full-scale Trump

You are too intelligent to believe that to be true so why say it? I imagine eventually you will drive the man out but not for good reasons so it may come back to haunt those who are doing this. I still believe that Starmer has got it right. Let parliament test the evidence not the press.

NfkDumpling Sun 24-May-20 18:12:51

I've just fired off another joint rant to our MP. That's two in one day.

Fennel. I agree. It'd be well worth the papers doing a bit of investigating into what Cummings has on Boris and other MP's. He may also have the ability to give the impression he knows more than he does.

We don't have a democratic government at present. We have a dictatorship with a puppet Prime Minister.

Kim19 Sun 24-May-20 18:13:34

Boris would just have lost my vote. No question. He was beyond belief feeble.

NfkDumpling Sun 24-May-20 18:14:05

I trust we've all written to our MPs?

Goodbyetoallthat Sun 24-May-20 18:14:08

Arrogant & offensive. Who knew?
