Sir Kier Starmer has double standards?

Several Labour MPs have broken lockdown and they have not been sacked...Stephen Kinnock 400 mile round trip to visit parents.
Ali has attended funeral mass gatherings
Gething rewrote Welsh lockdown rules after he was caught.
Corbyn not observing over 70’s lockdown.

Wife could have driven.

growstuff Tue 26-May-20 10:46:43

If he was seriously worried about his eyesight, he should not have been behind a steering wheel. It's an offence to drive with uncorrected impaired vision.

Ramblingrose22 Tue 26-May-20 10:27:22

Speaking of Barnard Castle, if DC was seriously worried about his eyesight a 10 minute drive would have been sufficient. Instead he went for a 60 minute round trip.

And if he was seriously worried about his eyesight why take his son in the car too when he might have been unable to drive safely? Makes no sense. After all, he had all those relatives available to look after the child.

These stories are very "convenient".

doodle it was Easter Sunday.

That theory cannot run I’m afraid.

SOCIALISTS .dont believe in the Honours system or titles ,well not any socialists I grew up with ,maybe English "socialists" have different standards ?

Sorry to wind back so far, but I had intermittent difficulty logging on last night.

If you can point me in the direction of a catechism of socialism, I can look at the bit about the Honours system. I wasn't aware that there was a policy on beliefs about such matters though, but maybe my standards don't match up to yours - you know, on account of being English sad.

I'm still baffled about the Barnard Castle (not Castle Barnard, incidentally) reference. Yes, there is a 'branch' of AstraZeneca there, but not the HQ. I am most definitely not an apologist for Cummings, but if he had travelled to visit someone there (unlikely if he was ill, and why take the family, and why not meet remotely, and why not host the meeting in London where other government bods were on hand?) he could just have said so. It is a far less contentious reason for travelling than the one he gave.

Dominic Cummings is a prime mover behind making the rules. Of vourse we should all abide by them but more those who devised them. Remainers like me regard Mr. Cummings as a deceitful almost criminal liar who helped win the referendum by telling many lies. Seeing the Brexit they are pushing it is not the Brexit that most leavers voted for. Such people have no place in a civilised government. His lying ways have not changed.

To expect Kier Starmer to withdraw the Labour whip for less grevious actions is unreasonable.

EV I live close to Southend on Sea, there were beach marshalls, and the overhead drone footage shows that the majority of people were observing social distancing . They have reopened public toilets, and there are lines on the pavement outside takeaway ice cream parlours and food shops.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 26-May-20 09:08:37

It may do in 2-3 weeks when the reproductive number increases EV

EllanVannin Tue 26-May-20 09:06:09

Southend-on-Sea-----packed like sardines on the beach yesterday, but it doesn't matter what the South does , does it ? shock

Whitewavemark2 Tue 26-May-20 08:56:58

sparkling what personal attacks?

Daisymae Tue 26-May-20 08:36:41

I think that he has come across as ver measured in his responses. I think that he has the Tories worried and with good reason.

Galaxy Tue 26-May-20 08:00:33

Yes imagine the opposition holding the government to account, how awful of them.

Sparkling Tue 26-May-20 07:49:24

Granny Gravy, your points are spot on plus factual, Sir Keir! Doesn't the Sir say something, is a very priviledge and wealthy clever lawyer, he is looking for loopholes in anything Boris says as if he's in a courtroom. These bulletins every afternoon are now a sham, not many people bother, met had become attack after attack from Labour and the press. I wish Boris had taken more time off, you can see he's not well. I find
the personal attacks by Whitewave offensive, deal with facts please. Dominic could barely be understood due to some stupid people paying a horn to disrupt everything, but that's the behaviour we can expect now. He should never have put Boris in this position it has detracted from dealing with the most momentous event the world has known it's not about him and it's not working together, it's just become political, another stick for Sir to beat Boris, my father would turn in his grave at what's happened to Labour, he gave his life to them.

There may very well be LP MPs and supporters breaking the rules, but they are not the people who have issued the rules which most of us have observed.

lemongrove Mon 25-May-20 19:07:44

Witzend ???
I agree totally, and has anyone not been watching scenes of packed beaches for the last few weeks?

growstuff Mon 25-May-20 16:24:39

Snap Callistemon. Sorry, I didn't see your post.

growstuff Mon 25-May-20 16:23:12

Over 70s in good health have never had to obey any lockdown. [sigh]

grannyrebel7 Mon 25-May-20 16:20:23

He was knighted in 2014 prior to him being an MP for services to law and criminal justice. He is an honourable man unlike this Tory bunch of hypocrites with their lies.

growstuff Mon 25-May-20 16:18:39

paddyanne I think you'll find that Alice Cummings has nothing to do with Dominic.

His sister is called Francesca Hewett and is an accountant.

growstuff Mon 25-May-20 16:14:35

I'm just soooo gutted!

I thought somebody was going to dish the dirt about Starmer visiting a lover in Newcastle. hmm

AGAA4 Mon 25-May-20 16:00:42

allowed!

AGAA4 Mon 25-May-20 15:41:34

No we can't all break the rules if we think it necessary
Maizie D.

Only Cummings is aloud to do that according to Boris!!

The rest of us have to abide by the rules as we have been doing whatever our personal circumstances

Daisymae Mon 25-May-20 15:36:54

Well, Cummings didn't just bend the rules. He transported an infected person hundreds of miles and exposed a child to heavy viral load. He sits on SAGE. Apparently he's going to make an announcement at 4. Expect even more embarrassing moments. The issue is that people have suffered and continue to do so, following government restrictions

Jaycee5 Mon 25-May-20 15:27:42

Starmar can't sack MPs (except from the shadow cabinet) only the public can do that.
Johnson is the only person who can sack his SPAD.
Labour MPs did not write the rules they broke (not that anyone thinks that is ok and they have been soundly criticised for it).
Cumming did write the rules and has made very obnoxious comments about the lack of importance of the people who are likely to die. He was behind a lot of the Government's austerity measures which have had such damaging effect.
I would not vote for any of those MPs but I cannot sack a SPAD.

grannypiper Mon 25-May-20 15:22:35

MAY7 Cummings knew he had the virus when he travellrd
