GrannyGravy13 History does not depend on statues. The statue of Colston did not record or recognise his involvement in slavery. In fact until recently it was a hidden story which was rarely taught anywhere.

Regardless of who or what the statue represented it is an act of criminal damage the culprits should be found and charged accordingly.

The point I am making that nobody seems to take on board is that when the young white girls were abused and raped nobody caused a fuss, nobody protested, it was all brushed under the carpet.
Can you imagine the outcry if it had been the other way around?

I believe racism works both ways.

The Asian paedophile gangs raped and abused thousands of young girls and the Police took a decade to act because they feared being branded as racist.

The black community really needs to look hard at itself, in Washington DC nearly 90% of black males are imprisoned at some time in their lives, over 70% of black children are born to unmarried mothers. Children grow up with mothers that have a negative attitude to men and the only male role models are the gang leaders.

How can a community thrive when the majority of young males have such negative prospects, having been been rejected or ignored by their fathers, brought up in extreme poverty with no prospect of skilled employment.

Reframe your question with how can black men be expected to do better when they are far more likely to be arrested than a white man doing the exact same thing. When they are far more likely to be killed than a white man doing the exact same thing.
